"The fourth edition of the Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europe boasts lots of new content whilst still retaining the format that has made it such a success. The European series is an excellent training ground for drivers with ambitions to race in the GT categories and a fantastic showcase for sponsors too, thanks to the media coverages, to the opportunity in organising "taxi-drive" events, to exibit the cars and last but not least the possibility to invite their own sponsors to the season various events.
The number of scheduled races stays the same this season with seven in all being held on European's most prestigious circuits in addition to the Maserati World finals. The Trofeo races will also be combined with other top class motor racing events such as the FIA GT and WTCC. Drivers will now be spending more time than ever behind the wheels of their cars too and the Trofeo GranSport has been confirmed once again this year as the car of choice for the championship. It has, however, have been updated to improve both performance and reliability. Several endurance races lasting an hour each are also being introduced to further heighten the spectacle.
From 2006, the Swiss manufacturer Audemars Piguet has become the main sponsor of this series, sharing with Maserati values of tradition, excellence and innovation."
