1972 BMW 2800CS mod for GTL
This Mod has been available at a few places for over a year.
And now at NoGrip as well.
Physics based on 72 Group 2 specs.
Please be sure to read the README first before installing.
The Mod in this form has been in use in many leagues for a while now, including the one I race in and we have seen no other issues that I am aware of.
The car runs very well with the other 1972 era cars in GTL like the Capri 2600, Porsche 914-6, and small block vette and Pantera.
Version 1.2:
Includes the shadow fix from Sunalp2.
Version 1.3:
Shift light on dash now working! (thanks Philipp)
New exhaust system on some cars (thanks Philipp)
Updated shadow fix to fill light hole under nose. (Thanks Sunalp2)
Rally lights removed from car # 16
Cars #2 and #4 that were in the car download section now included in Mod and updated to V1.3 specs. (Thanks Ned for these cars)
Cars now sit a touch lower (Does not affect physics in any way)
Many other small detail upgrades.
Version 1.4
New wheels, rotors, and calipers on cars#15, #16 and #2 (thanks philipp and JtraipXtreezeR)
Fix for the original wheels conflicting with, and causing the Escort
to have black centers on wheels. (Big thanks to UmmaGumma for advice and technical help with 3Dsimedit).
Fix for taillights disappearing when seen from a distance.
If you have any of the earlier versions there is no need to download the whole mod again
You can get the full 1.4 patch here.

--------------------------------
First off, if you have any of the 4 Original BMW 2800cs cars that were at no grip please remove them from your game before installing this!
they would be in your BMW CSL car folder and used the CSL physics.
If you finde any of the following car folders in there remove them before installing this.
LM72N49
SPA7014
SPA7215
SPA7216
Notes on the real BMW 2800CS:
The 2800CS race cars never really could challenge the 2600 Capri’s for the title in the early Days of the 1970s Group 2 championship,
while they had good power and a more sophisticated chassis they suffered from being over weight compared to the much lighter Capri 2600
A situation not rectified until the 2800CS was replaced by the CS Lightweight in 1973 more commonly referred to as simply the CSL.
The physics here are inspired by that final year of the 2800CS, 1972.
By 72 work had already been done to try to lighten the car as well as having the use of 3.0 engines and the 5-speed gearbox.
It is still some 400+ pounds heaver than the 2600 Capri and does not have the down force generating bodywork and rear wing,
which would help the CSL win the championship the next year.
It does have a power advantage over the Capri, which helps off set the weight to some extent, and is more forgiving than its ford rival.
I have given the car the benefit of the doubt, and tried to keep it as close as possible to the performance of the Capri 2600 with out being faster,
while staying as true as possible to the 1972 specifications.
The 2 cars are a blast to race with each other.
On larger tracks with fast sweeping corners the lighter weight of the Capri seems to give it an advantage.
Evan with the extra 25hp of the BMW, the Capri will out pull it in the first 3 gears.
On tracks where there are multiple transition sections the more stable platform of the BMW gives an advantage,
while the Capri is a bit nervous in these sections the BMW takes a set and holds its line nicely, any over steer is easy to control
with a bit of opposite lock.

Instillation:
Unzip to your Desktop or favored unzipping spot, copy and paste the "GameData" folder in C:\GTL
included with the cars are “Talent files”
These will make the cars faster when under AI control in single player, as well as make them turn different lap times relative to each other.
The talent files are just for single player use, so feel free to modify them any way you want.
-------------------------------------
These cars have been built using GTL content for use in GTL.
