Read Me (Porsche Mobil 1 SuperCup version 2.0)
The main changes to the original version (for GTR Evolution) are:
(a) transparent windscreen, so that you can see the car number and driver's name when driving in cockpit (credits for this go to LeSunTzu, who made it possible and prepared the relevant .psd, included in the 'Paintkit');
(b) edited windows files for all cars (because I do not fancy the Arial font and wanted all windows to look consistent with the new fonts I chose for the interior windows). Some of the edited windows miss the national flag of the driver as it is not available in the template; I am sorry for this. Thank you very much, kiwisteve, for allowing the editing of the windows (and for all your assistance);
(c) new sounds: all 'ambient' sounds – rectius, all sounds but the engine sounds, including transmission sounds - were replaced with GTR Evolution soundclips; the engine sounds were kept untouched, though;
(d) better brakes: the brakes and their cooling are now more efficient, they no longer overheat (at least, I couldn't make them overheating despite extensive and intensive testing), but the brakes will lock if you press them too hard for too much time (formerly they would never lock no matter how long and how strong you'd press the brake pedal); also, the tires temperatures are now more uniform (outside, inside and in the middle);
(e) slightly softer suspension (parameters still locked, though), making the car more driveable in the bumpier tracks, like the STCC tracks (although that experience is not recommended during summer time, unless you want to lose weight...);
(f) slightly longer 6th gear ratio (for some odd reason - probably related to the tire model in GTR Evolution - all gears are shorther in Evo than in GTR2, although the figures in the .grb file were exactly the same), so that the car won't hit the rev limiter in 6th gear as soon as it did before in the faster tracks; the gear ratios are still locked, though;
(g) further tweaking of the car's default set-up (toe-in, steering lock, etc.), which you can addspt to your own preferences, though;
(h) reduced 'SteeringFFBMult' (from 2,0 to 1,8) to help saving your wheels (the FFB feeling is still great, imho);
(i) the mod now includes headphysics.hed, so you get the complete g-forces when driving in cockpit;
(j) car info, when in showroom;
(k) other small changes I do not recall...
This version of the mod includes kiwisteve's skins depicting the cars that participated in the 2009 season of the Porsche Mobil 1 SuperCup ('converted' from his GTR2 mod) and all the (fictional) skins my sons and I painted for this mod so far (including a brand new one). There are talent files for every driver/car and only 4 of them are not real race drivers. Most of the 'extra' drivers are Portuguese (my choice).
All changes were performed aiming at addressing the complaints/suggestions posted by members, mostly at the mod's thread at NoGrip. All suggestions I got from members - namely LeSunTzu, Gunja, fredbull, nwankwo - were thoroughly considered and tested, even though the choice of the final parameters is my sole responsibility. Thus, I'm the one you should aim at in case you do not like this version of the mod...
Unfortunatelly, one issue (reported by 29manzglade) remains unaddressed: the drivers arms animation (or the gear shift stick position). I do not have the skills to fix it and could not find any modder who would; apparently, the correction requires the use of tools available only to SimBin...
Hopefully, the mod is still enjoyable despite this issue.
Upon extraction (I suggest you extract the file to a selected folder in your computer and use 7-Zip for that purpose - it's free, just Google for it) the resulting folder named 'Porsche Mobil 1 SuperCup for GTR Evolution v2' will include a compressed file named 'PMSC v2 Paintkit' with the relevant .psd files you need to paint a new skin and two folders named 'GameData' and 'UIData' with all the mod files.
Copy 'GameData' and 'UIData' to either:
'X':\Steam\SteamApps\yourname\race07 (Steam installation path); or
'X':\GTR Evolution\Addons\GTR Evolution (offline installation path).
Nothing will be overwritten.
Of course, you should remove all files from version 1 of the mod before installing version 2.
As to the painting kit, the included .psd files were edited to replace the fonts used for the digits with 'Tomb Raider' (TR) and the fonts used for the characters with 'Sansation'. Tomb Raider and Sansation are free fonts, you can get them in the internet.
Enjoy!
