HISTORY

The East African Safari was traditionally held over the Easter weekend which just happen to coincide with the long rains. The 1963 Safari turned out to be one of the wettest Safaris on record and as the intial field of 84 cars dwindled the organisers began to wonder whether any cars would reach the end. As it turned out only 7 cars managed to complete the course and the local press borrowed the name of a film on general release at that time "The Magnificent Seven".
In the early days of the Safari the cars where divided up into classes according to their engine cc with the smallest going first. The Fiat 2300s' were all in class F and were allocated numbers in the 70s.
Erik Carlssons'Saab led for much of the rally until he collided with a jay walking antbear. The impact pushed the engine back 5cm and damaged the suspension. Carlsson and Palm made rudimentary repairs and pressed on, safe in the knowledge that their service crew would be able to replace the damaged parts later on. Unfortunately the the front suspension collapsed before they could
rondevous with their service crew. At this stage the surviving trio of Fiat 2300s were well placed to win the manufacturers team prize. However, torrential rain further reduced the field including two of the Fiat 2300s. The remaining Fiat driven by Joginder and Jaswant Singh brought the car home in 4th place.

Double click on the RTP file
Click on “Yes” when prompted and the BZFManager will install the car.
The Fiat 2300 replaces the FTC Cortina (slot 4).
