View Full Version : Is Anyone Still Running 1150?

I was thinking of either uninstalling/reinstalling rFactor and going back to 1150 or making a second install without updating to 1250. I've had rF for about two weeks now and, so far, I can't stand this game. The AI have no regard for where I am on the track. The only way to play is with damage off.
I'm wondering if there are any mods that require 1250 or, if I decide to try online play, if 1250 is needed.
Thanks in advance
I have an 1150 install and three 1250 installs, you can save a bit of space by using just one Locations folder. You can do that by editing Tracksdirectory entry in your config.ini.
Don't forget to back up just in case.

Can I ask what you're using the 1150 installation for?
And how do you cope with 1250? Do you just turn damage off?
I personally think it's a waste of time racing AI with damage turned on at the start of a race, sometime during the race I might remember to turn it on! There isn't a sim out there that doesn't have entirely stupid AI. I see no point losing a wing at turn one and spending half an hour trying to get a lap back against AI. Humans would be a very different matter.
My original install was v1150 and it very quickly became a weighty beast clocking in at about 13 gig if memory serves. It slowed the start up down considerably. When 1250 came out I was not keen to experiment with patching that install because I had a number of seasons going, so I created a new install and put just open wheelers in it. Then some new and rather good tintops came out so I created another install for tintops. Then I downloaded a Nascar mod and ran the install and it created yet another seperate install which I would have deleted except that Nascars are awkward beasts and so I now have all my Nascar mods there. It all sound very catastrophic when I write it down but the reality is it doesn't take up such a great amount of space and the mod installs are so much more manageable. I also race using a projector and that requires very different graphic settings. My original install is a sort of mod test bed and if I like a mod it is quickly removed and put in one of the v1250 installs. Which by the way don't give me any more or less bother than the v1150.
Blimey!!! Did I say all that?!!
