View Full Version : Cant Get Mods To Work

Hi all. A few weeks back i asked this same Q about the F1 mod, and some guys came up with a few ideas as to how i would be able to get it to work in my game. But hey....... 3 wks later i try again, but still the same bloody error. Also i dled the Radical mod too, and that is the same.

after i install, i click on car and when i try to cycle through the names to select one, i get no pics of the car nor can i see it in showroom, this is the same for both mods F1 and Radical.

If i try to run a race it justs crashes to desktop

I have tried everything that can be done...

cleaned computer
switched off all running anti virus /firewall/ modules
Reinstalled os many times, tried different os
got all the updates etc for the mods
Played about with setting up GTR2 folder in some other locations
Tried all patches for v1.1
ran the game without nocd patch and still the same

I have tried troubleshooting everything step by step and i cant come up with an answer as to why these two mods dont run ok on my computer.

I see that must guys just drop the mod into there GTR2 folder and off they go, so why the heck is it not working for me.

The worst thing about this too, is i really want these two mods more so than anything else to do with this game. its getting very frustrating now. So last ditch effort,so i post again :cry:

Put each part of the mod in the respective folder in the GTR2 game folder ! eg - Teams/Ferrari 550 to the c/program files/GTR2/gamedata/teams/ferrari550 and the same with the sound files and championship files if its a mod that come with any ! Had the same problem just extracting them to the GTR2 gamedata folder , until i placed them in the folders one by one and then they seem to work fine !

hi LT,yes i must try that with the F1 mod, still dling it now, so al get back to you about that, but i did try this way for the Radical mod, still no luck

Are you trying the f1 mod from perfectdark(french) ? I thought that came with its own installer , if memory serves me right , uninstalled it a while ago so cant realy remember !

I have tried all mods , from english page and from perfect dark. But all i get is the same thing, crash to desktop.

Al keep at it, there has to be some reason as why this is not running.

Just dl'd the f1 mod 07 to see if i can figure it out ! This is what i did -

1) first deinstall / delete all pre versions of this mod

2) run F12007_pour_GTR2_v1.1.exe by double left clicking the installer that the dl came in and go through the install wizard as normal !!

3) to make the wheels viewable in game do the following :

open the file "your-nickname(leeShore).plr" in the Location - GTR2\UserData\your-nickname\ with an editor
(for example notepad) and change the line 281 to :

Wheels Visible In Cockpit="1" (default is 0 - dont forget to save it after changing !)

ps : you find the line under [Graphic Options]


Worked fine first time of asking !! Hope that helps in any way !

What is the Radical mod?? Heard of such a mod for RF but thought it was still a WIP.

Thanks LT , but i have tried many times again since you wrote that last msg there, Still same error . I thought maybe it was my directx or something , i even dled that again, but nope, same old same old. Thanks for the tips anyways. I have got Audi mod now, so am happy enough :-)

Goresh, the radical mod is on the dls section here in no grip. I had no luck installing it , so just be careful if you do, but it should work fine for you , just not for me,lols

After you install the mods do you look at your GTR2 install to make sure everything went in the right place? For example, in your "Teams" folder do you have another folder called "F1"? The same thing applies to Sounds, etc. I suppose it could also be you have a corrupted download. Also, when you try to select a car, do you cycle through the "classes" tab to find the F1 cars?

I know these suggestions have probably already been given, but it never hurts to check you install just in case. Good luck.

Hello, I think it would be best if you remove the folders already installed and started again,

If you create a folder in my documents called GTR2 DOWNLOADS and download and save the F1 mod there.

Once saved open the GTR2 DOWNLOADS folder and your find a folder called F1 mod 2007 v1.15.

Open this to find a folder with a picture of a hard drive with a arrow pointing down to it, Double click on this and the screen will go blue with the mods own installer.

This is all in French but you can guess your way through starting with the Suivant button.

Dont forget to open your plr folder and change the wheels visable in cockpit setting.

Still not working. I don't have all the tracks installed, but that wouldn't matter for an open practice, right? I'm including the vehgen text file. Seems it's calling for a search path that doesn't exist.:confused:

Have you made any changes to the cars genstring? The error your getting stems from a missing texture for the helmets visor. Things to check:

1) Genstrings for the two Ferraris should be, car07005= GenString=FER05B106 car07006=GenString=FER06B106
2)Be certain this file, HELMETS07.GTR exists in your F1_2007 folder, in this GTR file you'd find the models and textures for the helmets. If this is missing GTR2 will read from the cars CAS file but cause a ctd once its found the helmets texture/model is missing.

I did not edit the genstring. The file HELMETS07.GTR is in the F1_2007 folder. I'll include my most recent trace. It seems there's a problem with a textured material, not a texture itself. I imported all files into zmodeler 2 and all textures appear correctly and the textured material VISORAMASSA is there, along with its necessary textures.:confused:

What graphics settings are you using, low, medium, high or full? Also what dx, 7, 8 or 9?

I was running in dx7 with full vehicle graphics settings. I tried in both dx8 & dx9, but had no luck. I'll include the traces for both dx8 & dx9.
