After You download the mod, read the read me file, it usually tells you how and where to download.

Don't forget to unzip or unrar them first.

I recommend 7zip as its free and does not ever ask to be registered, like winrar does. http://www.7-zip.org/

Also they have a windows x64 version which is pretty cool.

Like said above, once un-ziped/un-rared there will be a readme file, telling you what to do.
