Rent a server!

Hi ,i would like to hire/rent a 16-20man gtr2 server for our clan,does any body know of a company that do this ? Multiplay don't as far as i know .

Please help me on this one lol i have had no luck at all trying to find one.I am UK based.

my actual provider for my clan is racingservers and at the moment i'm fully satisfied ;) and prices are very good.. expecially for us that rent server in € or in your case pounds (sterline) for the good change rate with $..

oh.. i'm from Italy ;) and at the moment no lag problems or hight ping problems..

I rented from Defcon and the damn server would rarely show in the game browser, they could not fix and would not refund. Support was bad to say the least.

Defcon were terible,i had the same problem withg them.same as you it does not show up in the brouser.Now i am renting from racingservers.com and i have to say so far just as bad ffs,it shows up in the game brouser for a small amount of time then goes again ,you cant join it while it's there and it says -1/80 ffs.Im just getting ripped off by theses idiots ffs.

oh yeah ,the guy from racingservers.com asked me for a cd key ,he said this will make it show up in the lobby ??????? any one heard of doing this ?

p-lease help.we gotta stop ppl ordering from these guys if there just gonna rip ppl off.

The reason why the servers disappear is because these companies aren't forwarding the correct ports. I used defcon for two days and when the admin refused to fix the issue I dropped them and went with MTCO communications. $79 a month but you have complete control of the box through vnc. The admin there worked with me to forward the correct ports and everything has been working great. I have two servers running off my box and I know of a few other people running GTR2 servers with them with no problems.

Multiple Hosting on a LAN

If more than one machine on the same LAN starts a session using the default PLR values then they will all open ports 34297, 34298 & 34347. Hence all machines will not be joinable from a person on the external Internet, as your port forwarding configuration will only be able to forward those ports to 1 of the machines.

To avoid this problem, and allow multiple LAN machines to be available from the Internet, the Port Start value must be altered on the machines, so it is not using the same ports as another machine.

E.g.
PC1 Host Port Start = 34297,
PC2 Host Port Start = 34299,
PC3 Host Port Start = 34301

This configuration will give:-

PC1 needs ports 34297 & 34298 on UDP and 34347 on TCP forwarding
PC2 needs ports 34299 & 34300 on UDP and 34349 on TCP forwarding
PC3 needs ports 34301 & 34302 on UDP and 34351 on TCP forwarding

i have just ordered a server from racingservers.com but i am having trouble with it staying in the game brouser.Also when it is in the brouser it says -1/80?
It is only a 28 man server so why is this.The guy at racingservers said i need to provide him with a game cd key so that the server will stay in the brouser !

Di you have to do this? any help with setting up my server would be really appreciated.

HI !! if it says you 1/80 it's ok ;) becouse racingservers has modified the dedicated application to completely automatize it :) . If you run a normal gtr2dedicatedserver.exe and set it to 28 players, stop it and restart you can view that palyers number auto resets to 16 any time.. so they have modified the application to prevet this ;)

For the on line lobby, yes you must to use your key to allow your server to stay into the lobby.. infact 1 license allow only 1 on line payers and 1 dedicated server.. ;) but it's not necessary to send the the key.. you can do all by yourself.

Go on your installation folder, run dedicatedserver application, start and stop it..

then go to you userdata folder, dedicated logs and you will find the file dedicatedserver.ini !! Open it with notepad and copy the two on line key that you find.. lobby broadcast and lobby username (if i remeber correctly)

then open you control panel server on racingserver, open the configuration interface and paste the keys that you copied changing the old that are into it

i'm using racingservers from first days of may and no problems with them..

remember that they give you the server and game installed but not license game.. they use the same installation key for all servers.. and then you must insert your key to publish it into the lobby..

1 original copy of gtr2 gives 1 on line access and 1 on line dedicated server... remember this..

So if you publish more than a server with the same keys, 1 will be published and 1 will disapper this is all..

my server in on the lobby.. you can verify looking into sim mod.. server name ITALIAN RACERS TEAM ;)

i have done what you instructed with the cd and pass word keys and the server does appear to be in the lobby now and i think its gonna stay there .It now says 0/80 not -1/80.How ever i cannot join the server,i click the join button,it goes grey and nothing happens.Any idea what i can try now ?
I notice that your server says 1/80 mine says 0/80 ...why is this ?

Would it be too much to ask if you pm'd me your config so i can see maybe if i have done something else wrong?

... if you have this problem maybe can be a problem of port forwards..

Try to ask to racingservers to verify port configuration..

I'ts now sorted,i take back any bad things i said about racingservers.com (not Defcon tho) With your help Delgado and Eric who works for racingservers we got there in the end.Eric was on Msn with me for well over an hour helping me solve the problem.

lol please don't laugh,but the only problem i had after doing what Delgado said was that the server name was too long .... Doh!
It is in the server list atm and it just says *MaD* Will prolly say *MaD* Racing! later.Your all welcome to come n play there,soon we will hopfulkly get the listener sorted to run on the server so we can have some good clean racing.

I would like to put in rotation some custom tracks on my server ,seeing as you use the same control panel as me,could you kindly give em step by step instrustion on how to up load the tracks to the server please ?

yes... you need only an ftp program to transfer files into the server GTR2 installation folder ;)

I suggest you Filezilla that it's free, complete and friendly to use :)

install it and configure with your server ip, uservame and password of your control panel..

download the FileZilla 2.2.32 , then extract and run the exe ;)

i think you was not sure for the presence of 3 different files ;) but you must download and install only the first (or the second if you want to try the new beta3 version)

it's simple !! Enter the configuration panel and insert the ip address of your server, port 21, then select ftp access normal insert username e password that you are using to access to racingservers control panel and click connect ;)

well to upload, click on the forders server and go to locations folder, take from your pc the "trak folder" that you want to upload, and move with the mouse into the filezilla program into the location folder that you previosly opened
