To what standard do you expect or want your drivers in your league to achieve?
ie: appx lap times etc.
Cheers
Paul, although I don't race in the league races, from what I have heard it does not matter how good you are as long as you have fun and race cleanly, the league is open to anybody that is willing to race. I shouldn't be talking though as I'm willing but I still refuse.

The most IMPORTANT thing is to be CLEAN, FAIR and RESPECTFUL driver. The speed doesn't matter. :D
Right on man, right on. That sums it all up.

Just race clean,
We have drivers of all speeds so whatever speed you are you will have someone to race with.
Its much easier to do some fast hotlaps, then it is to race side by side with someone and avoid any contact.

Cheers for all your responses! I am at the point where I am frustrated with some of the AI shunts or extreme braking! and feel that soon I will be of the standard to race online, havnt ventured there yet!! but look forward to racing with all of you in the near future...
Cheers PaulTDSBristol
Ummm, online it may be worse depending on where you race. There will be wreckers that like to crash on purpose. It is best you drive on servers that protect from idiots like those.

Gamers Crib is tha god for wrecker free races;) and there's always good and fair competition, even the RS motorsport dudes are nice fellows in fast RSRs come sometimes. GC racers are too fast, such as the admin Whoopster and GC Filip

Best thing to do bud, is to come along to the practise server and have a go. Plenty of guys there to give some advice or a setup that may help you. I am sure that if they know you are a bit of a 'rookie' they will understand the odd mishap. You will gain some experience and also probably get a bit of confidence about racing online.

Thks, I understand where you are coming from. Before gtr2 I was racing online with Toca Race driver 3, had the wrecker problem there! It will be a pleasure to race online with people who have fun but still take it seriously enough to be considerate to others....

There is no preset standard you need to be at online races to race with us. As Steve said give it a run in the practice server for a while. I'll probably be on the server tomorrow preparing for the race and there will be many others there who will be willing to offer setup advice, driving tips etc.
There is some fast people online. Just race your race and don't worry about how fast they are going. File 1993 mentioned a few important things. I would also like to say it is important to be aware of how you and other peoples actions effect other people on the track.
An example is if you run off the track or if you get bumped off the track please don't think it is your god given right to get your car back on the track as soon as possible. Make sure you don't cut out in front of someone coming back on the track. That could cause them to have to slow down for you or it could cause them to get in a wreak. Another way your actions could effect someone is something that happens far too often online. It is wreaks in the first corner. Be careful going into it. Know that you and other peoples breaks are not warm yet and that could be a issue. Know that cars are bunched up more at the start and that could be a issue.
Also watch out for as_holes they don't bother qualifying. They could be there to wreak people. Or they could just feel entitled to pass as many cars as possible before the first turn. They will cut in front of you and others causing problems in the first turn.

Thanks mate:up: I appreciate that :).
Oh and forgot to mention, ALWAYS use virtual mirror. Not just to be virtual, use it to LOOK at it. Because, it will help you a lot. It improves visibility at the back and YOUR safety at the same time.
I'm in the same boat as the OP and greatly appreciate the great community of racers you guys have here. Watching you guys racing through replay shows how good and patient you all are. I've been popping in an out of the server during practice and appreciate how welcoming you guys have been. As of right now i'm not comfortable enough with my online driving but i've been trying as hard as possible to stay clear from getting in anybodies way while their hot lapping in practice.
I'm still about 3-4 seconds off the pace and hope to at least close that down to 1-3 seconds consistantly before I take the full race challenge hehe.
Hopefully i'll be able to join you guys soon, till then i'm having a blast watching your races through replay and Karlos's great video's.:D
