View Full Version : A strange thing in KK's physics..

I have long used a wheel as a controller to enjoy RT. However, I am using a keyboard now, because I am in other country without my wheel.

I have found a strange thing yesterday. When I drove all the cars (22 cars) in RT with KK's physics, I found that Ford escort FTC shows somewhat abnormal behaviour. The control of it was totally impossible. It cannot go straight, on the contrary, it always go right or left staggering continuously. On the other hand, Ford escort (not FTC) went well as I want. All the cars except Ford escort FTC showed normal behaviour.

Is there anyone else who found this?

No, I don't have more problems with the Escort FTC than with other powerfull RWD cars. Never tried driving it with a keyboard, though. :)

Try it with a keyboard. It is really strange.

Try the Stratos with keyboard and try also a real car with keyboard. Not easy, really ;-)

I also tried stratos with keyboard. It was far more easier than Ford escort FTC. All the record of cars with keyboard (russia stage 1) were around 2:30, but the record of Ford escort FTC was over 6:00!!

the only comment I can make is, those physics where never designed to work with the k/b controls like the original game prolly was, but at the same time there is no reason I know of why it should be any different to the other powerful cars in how hard it is to control by k/b

ok, i see this issue is not your concern. :)

if god wonted cars with kayboard controlls we would have it :o

KKND2-why are you suffering, why don't you buy some crappy cheap wheel for your notebook  -this two mounths ;) will be lot easier to play then with a kayboard :o

well.. I made those physics a long time ago, and they were done for a specific reason, but now there isnt really any use for them, I dont particularly like them as I think most fo the cars are too easy to drive, and too fast to be realistic..
and, I recently removed them from the downloads section, so I don't feel that I should waste any time supporting them in any way ;)

I find the Stratos a lot easier to handle than the Escort FTC even with a wheel. I think the Escort FTC needs a larger deadzone and slower steering than the other cars (havent tried larger dadzone, but slower steering helps for me). I am actually faster in the non-FTC version... :o

I got a dumb question...what does FTC stand for

Factory team car.

In RT that means that the car with that designation is faster(usually more powerfull) than the non-FTC version. Originally all the non-FTC cars have an FTC counterpart in RT and when you have all of the cars avalible the FTC cars are on slots 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22.
This dosent go for the addon cars as they usually dont have more versions to simulate the non FTC and FTC cars. Perhaps some time that will happen, but i havent noticed it yet.

If you are not yet able to drive FTC cars and would like to have all the cars and tracks and championships unlocked without driving for them just use the KALJAKOPPA cheat(all is described in the guides section on the main page).
