View Full Version : Anybody else annoyed with Seven's coverage of V8 Supercars

For the second time this year I came home early to watch the final race of the v8's, and turned the TV on to see that AFL was on instead. Nothing against AFL, but when Ten had the coverage there was no conflict and it was reliable coverage. Besides that, it was Ten that brought motorsport back into popularity in Oz. I don't know why they switched.

I liked the hosts better on Ten also. I'm no fan of Beretta, but on this point I can say that I'm glad it didn't go to Nine or we'd probably be stuck looking at Glen Ridge and Richard Wilkins, thank god for small mercies.

If only you had a clue....

There was only 1 race today - because of the long weekend, the racing will continue tomorrow, with the telecast from 1:00pm to 5:30pm.

As to the hosts, Neil Crompton and Matthew White are both former 10 commentators, who 'came across' to Seven with the V8s. Very little has changed, apart from which button on the remote I press.

Here's a virtual $2, buy a TV guide.

9 hours televised coverage for one round seems pretty good to me. Ten did a great job with the V8's for the last Ten (heh) years, but 7 is televising racing and race related shows every weekend with V8 Extra, which is bloody great IMO.

I have to agree with FamousAnus here.

I think that channel 7's sole coverage of V8's is as good as Channel 10's but appears to be lean on it's motorsport coverage, showing only the V8's. It just sits out like a sore thumb slotted in after a movie and just before the football. It's just not treated with the justice it deserves. :(

Channel 10's coverage over the years has been exemplarily, covering not only V8 supercars but also production GT, Formula Ford etc. all of these brands owe their gratetude to the publicity that has come from it

I still watch Channel 10's motorpsort coverage as it has all the rally races that I want aswell as the other stuff that 7 has missed.

I stand corrected. I should have known to look for a v8 race on a Monday. I know about Greg Rust and Neil Crompton, I was referring to Beretta et al there.

Thanks for the virtual $2 Wumba, I'll use it to buy you a virtual medal.

seven won't be happy until they get AFL umpires as flag marshals and Dennis cometti or whatever as a V8 supercar commemtator. I hate paddock ballet. Maybe they could play in the in field that would solve everything.

WD on Brockie's Record

Skaife will always be in my good books he came from those POXY Nissans and like the Kellys he would slash his wrists before he ever drove a FORD.

what happened to Targa Tassie? It's gone from a bloody good 1 1/2 hour review to a 1/2 hour wankfest of who had the most expensive car! I reckon they should show alot more of the also-rans as well as the winners. Get rid of the AFL or show it at a later time and get back to real motorsport Channel 7.

Bloody Fords! Good to see Lowndes winning again though. Gee there was a bit of carnage this weekend hey. Races 1 and 2 didn't even make 4 turns before huge accidents brought out the safety car, looked more like my GTR2 races.

The Super Car coverage has got better but the Champcar coverage is shocking!!!!!!!! Channel 7 need to pull there finger out. Interesting race today, if not a bit sloppy.

LOL I was but only once at the start.
1st B.Spengler
2nd B.Schneider
3rd M.Ekstrom:D

Shame Hakkinen was in 2nd place but didn't make a pitstop and the yellow flag showed up after a crash. Great drive by the Greek in DTM, 7th place Alex Margaritis

It was only 2 weeks between rounds this time, usually 3 or 4 weeks apart. Skaife won race 1 on Saturday, Lowndes won races 2 and 3 o Sunday which gave him the round win, with Rick Kelly 2nd and Skaife 3rd. Jamie Whincup was strong all weekend, Tander as off the pace for qualifying and race 1, but came back in races 2 and 3 to score more points. Russell Ingal and Will Davison had a big shunt in race 1 at turn 4 of lap 1, and Courtney spun at the exit of turn 1 in race 2 on lap 1, and was hit hard by Shane Price. In race 2 the safety car came out and picked up Greg Murphy instead of the race leaders, Murph was already a lap or 2 down due to some mechanical troubles, so that put him yet another lap down, so he decided to park it.

I thought so. I was surprised when I checked the V8Supercar site after the last round, I don't think they've ever had 2 rounds that close together. BTW Hobo, how was Eastern Creek? Or did I ask you that already?

i will try to get out to oran park though,
when i get my car, its time for a road trip across australia,
im going to everywhere to watch V8s, perth, darwin, adelaide, queensland, tasmainia, and i will have to go to bathurst again :)

i went to bathurst in '05, and saw the infamous "wheel incident" for lowndes, :P we got to go because my dad won tickets to go all wekkend, but again, my mother disallowed me to go camping up there, "my side dream:)" so i just went on sunday, and got to see skaifes 5th bathurst :)

25 June 07, 07:57
Aw man I want to go to Bathurst, that would be the best weekend ever. When I win Lotto I'm gonna buy one of those lush apartments on Conrod near the Chase, I might even let you stay there too. :p:roflmao:
I think this year is the last year that Oran Park will be raced on isn't it? I know it's supposed to be bulldozed to make way for a development soon, that sucks cause it's one of my all time favourite tracks.
