Hey, I'm new to modding, for any type of game for that matter.
I want to create a new car for GTR 2,(a Supra) possibly a using existing mesh from the game, i want to know what programs i need to do this, throughout my reading i have seen names such as, Zmodeler, 3dStudiomax, 3dSimED, as well as this "Physics Editor", i already have one, Scythe Physics Editor, I'm not sure if this is the one your talking about for editing/creating engines. As well as any plug-ins i might need.

Recommendations would be great, links would be even better.

Thanks In advance

Here goes: unless you are already good with 3d modeling, you should start with Zmod2. It's pretty good 3d modeling program for learning. Go to their web site, you'll find program, tutorials, examples, forum, most of the info you need anyway. 3dSimed is also good, I use it mostly for converting file types between games and modeling software, packing/unpacking and material editing. Ofc 3dsmax is best if you know how to use it. I don't know about physics editor you mentioned, but you can go to rFactorCentral and you'll find lots of tools there, plenty of which are compatible with GTR games.

And here are the links (you can get them all in about 5 seconds using Google):

www.zmodeler2.com
www.sim-garage.co.uk
www.autodesk.com/3dsmax
www.rfactorcentral.com

Have fun!

Thank you :)

There is lots of work on making a new car. Modeling, texturing, sounds, physics... If you get stuck, don't be discuraged, ask your questions here, there are plenty people willing to help.

Another thing, I don't know if you already know, but you can help yourself if you take an existing 3d model of a Supra as a template. There is one extracted from NFSMW. You can download it here:
