View Full Version : IS RACE WTCC worth it... or not!
Is RACE WYCC worth it? It's not the money.... I know it's 20 bucks! I have GTR2 and rFactor.... I'm wondering if I would play RACE! What do you guys like about the game? Is Steam like Starforce?
Is the exp pack fun?
Thanks

The cars weigh the same as the GT cars in GTR2 but have less than half the power, so they are a different experience - not everyone likes lower powered cars. But the racing is close and front wheel drive also adds something new.
Apart from close racing I like the reverse grids for the second race, and I like the wipers. Macau is also fun to drive but hard to race. The Caterhams are fun.
To be honest though if you haven't bought it already it might be worth waiting for RACE 07.
Assuming you are from the US - if you prefer pickup on-line racing you may find numbers on-line are an issue as numbers on-line are quite a bit lower than say for GTR2 and like GTR2 most people race on-line at peak European times.
Steam is different to Starforce. I've never had any problems with Starforce but it does force you to keep the DVD in the drive. Steam doesn't require you to use the DVD (assuming you buy on DVD - in the US you are more likely just to download). It is also very good at updating your game automatically. Its default settings are a bit intrusive - by default it starts when you start your PC and has "pop-up" ads for games when you exit from your game but both can be turned off pretty easily. You need to be on-line to activate a steam game but after that I've had no problems playing when not conected to the net. There are no issues with renewing licenses which you can get with other on-line copy protection such as trymedia. And Steam does provide an on-line anti-cheat system.
Thanks David, I appreciate your time!
I may wait for RACE 07.... and your comments to that thread were very informative!
Since I just got Forza 2 for my 360 and of course still run rFactor/GTR2.... I'll wait for thw WTCC experience. I actually love close racing... as long as I can be in the top 10, at least when in a game.
Thanks
Well, i have also GTR and GTR 2, GT Legends and rFactor, but RACE is superior in my eyes to both of them.
It brings that much intense close racing, which is uncomparable joy if you find a good fair group of people to race with.
So since RACE 07 is expected to be released only later-end of this year, if you do not want to wait to have great joy ride battles on-line it is the best choice at the moment to buy as a race-sim!

p.s.: look at this, and decide for yourself :)

It's a lot better now than when it first came out but now i have to pay 5 bucks for the new cars.they should be free for the people who bought the original game when it first came out.It will be the same price at the store for the new version.

They were free for those who bought the first game for a limited time. :)
Thanls guys for the comments! Looks interesting! What's 20 bucks, though my connection really doesn't make for a good online experience.
