I think its long overdue ladies and gents...lets setup another event
for Thursday July 19, feedback appreciated. Lemme see we ran Escorts
last time and GT40 before that, so i guess this time we need some tc65
action, maybe the alfa or cortina.Whos interested.

the more the merrier :) Dan can you also post this in the private league forum.
I guess we will run Alfa GTA's, anyone got a suggestion for track. Please test track before posting to make sure it can accomodate 20-25 players.

Strangely enough a topic was started in the league forum about this very subject yesterday :)

We thought Panteras at the Indy Oval would be kinda funny...

Whatever gets decided upon I'll try to make it.

I'd love to (I started the thread in the league forum), but I'm not home until 6pm+ Eastern US time. When are we starting?

I like both. Jus an Alfa race should be cool, tho ANY TC-65 race becomes an Alfa race. :D
Pantera Indy Oval also gets the .

If during the week, anything AFTER 8pm UK Summer Time (I work late during the week Y'see). Anything post 6pm UK ST during the weekend as well if that helps.

Track/Car?

Sure for the Pantera, a beast to drive and damn sure to be a challenge with all that turbo lag. No thanks for an Oval. Identical field will turn the race into a flinching contest. You make one mistake and yer languishing miles behind with little chance of catching up.

Perhaps something a little different like 'Slotpark'? http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2957 (http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/../details.php?filenr=2957)

Nice and wide, Good and fast... Not to mention a drifting paradise for the Alien brigade. ;) Will check race numbers ASAP but not expecting problems.

There's also the thought of 'Snetterton 1967' Already stress tested in the league to great success. [NG] Admins would be the best bet to have a look at that.

Hoskins;118953'][NAGTL/SSR] vs [No Grip] practice server is up.

Anyone else having a problem getting onto the practice server? I can load cars / track fine single player, but when I try to get onto the server I just get a quick flash of the main screen and the player loading message before GTL does a CTD.

Update: went back in with trace enabled and got the following:

plrfile.cpp 3381: Entered PlayerFile::Restart()
vehgfx.cpp 1354: Could not open
vehgfx.cpp 2552: Unable to read USERDATA\LOG\vehgen.scn: Error opening scene file name USERDATA\LOG\vehgen.scn
vehgfx.cpp 818: Could not open
vehgfx.cpp 2607: Could not find instance "SLOT000"

No errors running locally or on another track online. Any ideas?

OK, I did some experimenting.

Cannot run on my own server with Alphas when the car pack is installed.

Runs fine on my server without the carpack.

Runs fine on SSR server without the carpack.

Anyone else having issues with the carpack?

I did with the GT40's. Try using 7-zip instead. I did this and it unpacked cars that winzip didn't.

That was it. The self-extractor didn't unpack everything.

Now I just have to hope I get home in time. After letting us out an hour early all semester I think the instructor has started getting some heat about the length of her classes. Tues. ran until almost 6pm!

Nice track - big, wide-open spaces. Should be good for overtaking. I'd guess somewhere in the 1:38's for pole. 1:40+ for the rest of us.

I think probably faster than that, I did a best of 1.38.4 practicing the other night, regular laps around 1.39.

I hate the Club circuit cut through, spoils a great track.

I'm kinda surprised we have a car pack, as there's a reasonable amount of standard paint jobs to choose from. They do look nice though, and as long as everyone can get them installed properly, great.
Gonna make sure it all works proper a bit later. Lost my connection last night just before race 2:mad:

Well, that was a pity. Race will probably start in about 15-20 minutes from now at maybe 12:15am BST.

Unfortunately, that is/was just too late for several of the [NGR] team.

Malcolm, Snowcat, SuperPask and I had some fun in a 5 lap mini-race against some of the [SSR] team, Mirling Stoss and Ol'Greazy (NG 1,2,5,6 v SSR 3,4) but we really need to arrange this for a weekend.

And get our times clear. When do practice, qualifying and race start?

Still, fun while I was there. And a clean bunch of drivers.

In the end, the green flag dropped at approximately 00:30 in the UK.

Practice and Quali had gone reasonably well, (For me at least) the race didn't...

Got tangled up with somebody in the esses on Lap 1 and smacked off a retaining wall, pit stop to fix it would've taken a good 7 minutes so no way was I pitting that early. The Alfa still had some pace so kept going. The car was definately wounded though, Right hand turns had bad understeer and the tail had more wiggle than Ms Lopez.

Managed to claw my way back up to fifth but a couple of hairy moments further down the road granted me the now traditional Interleague Stop/Go penalty... :conf1:

Had to drop out of was quite a decent melee' to pay my pennance and found the sickening picture waiting for me on exiting the pits. I'm dead last on the road, 45 seconds down and with 15 laps to go... :banghead:

In the end, what's the point? Kept going as hard as I could but that far back with a :censored: car has about the same potential as urinating into the wind. The rest of the race was just a boring lapathon on my own. The exact same way I'd spent most of the previous 4 hours in Practice...

Thanks for the invite fellas, it's appreciated. Sadly it was also a wasted evening that I probably should be spending in bed... :-/

Was having fun, running well, right up to the point where my wife came home and couldn't figure out how to open an unlocked front door. Stood out there yelling for me to open the door until I crashed, then opened the door herself. Was too disgusted and aggravated to continue.

The race started well for me, I had really intense and good battles. At the start there was a little mess and I could avoid it. I was driving in good company with Snowcat and XanK (correct the spelling if it's wrong, I don't remember all the SSR nicknames well). We had good battles for a few laps. But, the Dark Omen fell on me once again....... It happened at the end of the 'highway straight'. When the highway road ends up, near the enter of the last big turn, there's kinda retaining wall. That's where I 'died'! XanK,Snowcat and I were fighting side by side on the highway. I put myself on the right side. That time, I was too much on the right. I entered the turn in a too much wide way, and the front of my car smashed into the head of the retaining wall!!!!!

Due to the high speed at the end of that straight, you can easely imagine how violent was the hit! My car stopped on the concrete wall, like a buttered toasted falling on the floor. My engine didn't got fire but it was pretty much smoking though. I stood there for a few seconds - this is when I typed 'Opps, dead car' on the chat lien! Then I put rear gear on to get out of there and went bakc on track, just to see if my car could ever be still driveable. The game finally said that I had suspension failure, but I had more than that obviously. The steering wasn't working that good, and the engine was seriously dammaged. I could shift gears quite well at first sight, but it looked than the engine was blocked to max of gear 4. The RPM light didn't light on at max gear 4 and when shifting to 5, I didn't get anymore power, it was like keeping on gear 4.

So I did 2 laps this way and finally went to pits. The time to fix was too long and so I thought it would be worth keeping on racing. Then I gave up.

It didn't look like it was NGR day on that race. But while watching the race from the pits, I sent a few messages on chat to cheer up NGR boys ;)

Anyway, even if I had bad luck, I really enjoyed that track/car combo!!! This track is one of my favorite, definately and the Alfa is fun to drive!

Thanks to everyone, this challenge was a good friendly moment to get together! :) Congrats to all racers!

Last thing : as Psyfungi said, it should be better to schedule the race date and times in a way that could fit to most of us next time. Sure that the late time here in Europe penalized most of NGR guys. As far as I'm concerned I'm on holidays, but if it had been on a normal work week, I wouldn't have raced, and I guess it was the case for many of us yesterday.

billsmithem
20 July 07, 12:46
I don't think it could be much earlier on a weekday for the folks here in the US, as the start time was only 1 hour after most people get off work, but it would have been better if there was a short qualy/practice time so all y'all in Europe don't have to stay up until 2am to drive the race.

I cut out of class early, rushed home, got in a couple minutes after 6pm, thinking that I'd barely made it, and then discovered that we were running another hour's worth of practice and qualifying. Others that had planned on running had to drop out when they discovered how late we were actually running.

We will have to make the schedule a bit clearer next time we try this.

I did love this track / car combo. Great driving, great battles, right up to the point when the wife came home. :D

Apologies to whomever I tapped when we were running side by side in the left hander just before the cut-through. Have not had a chance to look at the replay and can't remember who I was racing at that point, don't know whose fault it was, or if it was just GTL's collision detection getting stupid again.

billsmithem
20 July 07, 20:26
I think I've about had it with running add-on cars. I can't run a single one of the Riverside replays after I installed the add-ons. The earlier ones are fine. What a PITA! I may just do yet another clean install and leave it be.

Would be really good. Last SSR/NGR race (R1) I did was a bank holiday on the following Friday, so I could stay up till whenever. But not on a regular worknight. Would love to do a late Saturday race. With the timezone difference it doesn't even start till well after the GTR2 race finishes should any of the crossover guys be interested.

Keep the idea alive! :)

Nice Vid. Having the only Martini car on the grid means I can spot myself easily and figure what I was doing wrong that night.

Sadly, Late Saturdays or late Fridays (Assuming as late as the Riverside race was) are out of bounds for me... The Weekends have me on Early shifts at work so a late run is impossible. Ironically, I'm evenings during the week so late night racing is fine... :(

Perfect for [NGR] Races (Normally on a Sunday evening) but useless for an interleague scheduled for 'normal' times... :conf1:

Sorry fellas...
