what do you guys think the best view is? imo i prefer the helmet cam, makes u feel like your rly there with a big monitor and a G25 :D
who drives with the chase view (dont know what its called!) where the cam is behind the car. I think thats a bit wussy but i would love to know what everyone thinks.
and anything else about DiRT, what does everyone like/dislike + want to change?
You go from very specific to extrememly broad in your questions lol.
I prefer the cockpit view when I race. Even though I use a 37in widescreen LCD, I have the monitor set up so the g25 transposes right below the motec/gauges, and therefore lose the bonus of seeing the side mirror.
Never played DiRT. But, I would like for them to lose Starforce and revise the physics.

In stock form the "dash" view (closer cockpit viewpoint) is the only way I feel good with.
It's the same seat position I use in all my racing-sims so obviously it's how I feel better, also for the immersion/realism it delivers while driving, better than any other cam available there IMHO.
...you can edit the cams to your likings though.

I find the helmet cam is more realistic and more fun tbh. But yeah, i also like the dash cam. how do you 'edit' the cams?

Another note that I don't think is pointed in those threads...
if you look at each camera parameters you'll see a line with parameter name:
"position" type="vector3" x="*.****" y="*.****" z="*.****" />
(this goes for headcam view)
or instead of that, some cameras you see same thing but with other name in parameter:
"offset" type="vector3" x="*.****" y="*.****" z="*.****" />
(this goes for dashboard view)
x="*.****" goes for left/right camera positioning
y="*.****" goes for up/down camera positioning
z="*.****" goes for closer/distant camera positioning
...you can also change (and combine with those parameters above):
"fov" type="scalar" value="**.****" />
If you notice, "60.0000" is default FOV (Field Of View) value for most cameras.
Increase that value and you'll get a better sense of speed (and also distant camera/seat positioning), but things will probably look a bit distorted if you use too much FOV (IMO).
Decrease that value and you'll get a more "natural" image (and also closer camera/seat positioning) but the sense of speed will be almost lost if you use too little FOV (again, IMO).
...now it's up to you to edit, increasing or decreasing values for each of those parameters, combine them if you want to, test ingame and improve cameras to your likings if you wish. :)
PS: I'm currently using "65.000" FOV in dash view, just for some testing.
Very nice DucFreak!

WOW nice man :D thanks! Thats really smart and helpful there, might go and give that a try. I will use this to make a Roof Cam for my replays, i think that would look great :)
thanks ducfreak
Like in Rfactor,GTR2 and GTL I donīt use the virtual steering wheels from inside car. I donīt know if Dirt has some key to retire the steering from cockpit and if somebody here knows something about it, please, let me know ok. Thanks....
