I can confirm today that my moddeler Angus will be doing the Galaxie in Zmod, complete with wheels and template for us here. He has the blueprint that was supplied by David I think and also the video of the model

Heres fingers crossed chaps, but it looks great and he is all good with it.... ;)

A Galaxie in GTL has been my hope since it came out 2 1/2 years ago. I have some physics data and an on-board recording. If I can help the modeller in any way with photos etc let me know.

A capri 3000GT to race against the upcoming Monaro, GTHO, and LC GTR XU1 Torana in a TC 1970, for addons.

I like to mod this myself, but my modding skills are not there yet.

An Alfa GTV 1750 and Escort GT, MK2 mini (Australian Spec-need to change the door windows) from the existing cars,to add some variety.

Maybe later a Datsun 510 (1600), Corona RT 40 MK2 (1600 SS), and...

Well its a wish list.

ATM I am trying to make an A40 farina for TC65. I have started making a mesh with zmod. Still a long way to go yet! Slow learner.:stupid:

DDon't worry - we'll get that done.
But it will take a while to start, at least we have the word 'go'.
I'l give a yell when when thecountdown is finished and we can start hitting the throttle.

Meanwhile, some other cars will get done. But it's not forgotten!!

Ehm, have you ever played the game yourself? I am talking about the Ford Cortina, not the Ford Lotus Cortina. ;-) The Ford Cortina has a different engine and is therefore an almost different car to drive. In the excellent Power and Glory Mod you have both Lotus Cortinas and Ford Cortinas for example.

And yes, I only drive the Cortina in the TC-65 class.

as my father raced both cars to a professioanl level, I have played the game. I don't think that having a cortina and a lotus cortina will do the game any good. It'll be like having a Frogeye 948cc and a Frogeye 1275cc (which I am making in 3dMax)

Pizzaman
27 May 08, 11:52
Indeed, they'll only race the 'heavy' version.
But a Mk2 Cortina would be a good idea though.
Especially for competition with the 1310 Mini Cooper S.
That is meant as a later (1969-ish) car as well.

Making a 'lower classed version' is usually not any good.
But a Mk1 Escort 1600 Mexico and Capri GT would be good for 'TC-70'.
Like the Mini 1310, they'd beb OK to race with the GTC-65 cars.

I'd say the problem is that there are too few serious championships out there. If there would be more, with an illumination on different segments within every class, the Ford Cortina GT would be a great idea - assuming it would be one with the smaller engine. If more light would be thrown on every smaller segment, for example (-1600 cc (Alpine, Elite) in GTC-65), or (1600-2500cc (Cortina, Alfa GTA) in TC-65 class), more people would enjoy driving these. I know the GTA, Cortina example is quite corny, as a lot of people are driving them anyway, but just an example. So, yeah, in the scenario that is now - everybody driving the GT40 in GTC-65 class for example, I guess noone would care about having a car with the smaller engine.

Anyway, I'd be happier for the other cars i wrote, Austin A35/A40, BMW 1800 ti, Galaxie, Volvo Amazon, every day, every year, so no need for this "discussion" to take bigger proportions at all.

This is still a GT Legends forum, and those cars aren't meant to be in that game - at least my opinion. It's a game consisting of cars made before 1976, as I presume you already know. Seriously, are you guys kidding me? Go somewhere else, please.

Well, these would do fine IMO.

Also, some classics like the Sierra Cosworth and Escort Mk2 RS2000 or even Escort Mk3 XR3 would go well in GTL.
But indeed, the other two cars are better left for GTR2.

Cool Gollum.

I think the Celica GT (1600) is a strong possibility. It may be made in the near future.

Having those plus capri (3000 GT, 1600 GT), Cortina GT and Escort (Lotus, 1300 GT), Alfa (GTV 1750) from the existing cars will make the bathurst legends a great experience.

There are already other cars in existence in other mods. Fiat 124 sedan (Lada) and Datsun 1200 Coupe are already in the Rfactor ETCC 80s mod. BMW (2002) is also around.

Isuzu Bellett GT(R) is also a possibility and it wont be long before someone makes a Datsun 1600 (510) as it has such a cult following.

Your own group is making a LC/LJ Torana and maybe a RT 38/9 Charger too I hear. Of course the Falcon and Monaro too.

All in all this would add up to at least 15 + variations of cars from this era. Hope you get your wish. Bathurst with such a range of cars will be a lot of fun.

I still wonder why RA -series Celicas went only to U.S. I would have expected at least you guys down there to get that "scaled down mustang" with 2 liter engine, but as you had 1600GT racing, it sounds that you had TA-series as well.

Europe had loysiest Celicas in the 70's... I am not sure if even (TA-series) 1600GT was sold in Europe as in Finland only ST variation was available.

Its interesting to see the Japanese variations.

The Celica's raced by Peter Williamson (and Graham Bailey) during the late '70s early '80s in Oz were infact imported DOHC versions (and were 2.0L).

Group C regs were very 'open' (for a better word) back then. The local Ford and Holden guys were pretty well tied down with what modifications they could use. Infact if it wasn't for Garry Williamton (spelling) and to a certain extent Dick Johnson, the XD-XE Falcon would not have been developed into the race car that we now know (Ford [factory] had pulled out of race car development after about 1975-76, from memory, could be earlier?).

There have been other cars in that era that 'slipped' or holmogulated through; ie; CDT (Country Dealer Team) Holden TE Gemini Coupe (there was never a TE coupe released, let alone with a DOHC 1600 in Aust), the turbo Bluebirds and of course Allan Moffats RX7's (ever tried buying a periphrical ported 12A, and then later a 13B PP, fuel injected RX7 from your local Mazda dealer?).

...ahhh, those were the days. Bring 'em back....better than V8 SuperCabs (no spelling error).

We are considering a conversion of our Porsche 917 to GTL and possibly a Ferrari 330P

or does the community feel these cars are not suited to GTL?

Once we've finished P&G Pt2, GTLW will be working on a 917 for GTL with Alain Lefebvre. This is only for your information - please feel free to convert your 917.

Like kliest, in a perfect world I'd prefer cars which fit perfectly with GTLs existing cars but in reality we have the car models which exist. And what GTL fan would really not want to drive the 917? If someone wants to make a Porsche 917 or a Ferrari 330P as a standalone mod then GTL is in many ways the most appropriate platform/community.

Pizzaman
6 June 08, 22:39
I'd say all classics are welcome.
If you make a 330P and a 917, somebody else might come along with the rest.
Like I am sure that if Zieman releases the Kaddett there will be an Escort Mk2 to follow...
And after that an Audi Ur-Quattro... and so on. Finally my prediction will come true: the Corolla will get some good company!

GTL => classic cars. No matter what kind. Just make them, and try rto get them as good as possible.

BTW I think the 330P is one of the most beautiful cars ever made,
even if I am more of a TC-65 (GT-TC70...) idiot myself...

gravin

What, you mean this one. (see pics below; Phillip Island 2007), The car has been returned to its original race specification after Beechey found and re-purchased it in 1992 and is still owned and raced by Beechey to this day..

Speaking of 'Stormin'' Norman, has anyone mentioned the Chevy Nova by any chance?

Yes the later cars have their Legends too.
But unfortunately there seems to be no good provisions for a Turbo in the ISI engine.
They seemed to have done OK with the 935 though.

that's why Rfactor is for

In RF you can change the Turbo boost during the race with a switch like it was done for real back then

A Porsche 935 engine could gain over 200 BHP immediatly with the extra boost but the fuel consumtion skyrocketed too

that's why Rfactor is for

rFactor doesn't model turbo lag, and this was very significant with the early turbos like the 935.

Nah, a Mk2 Escort RS and Mk3 Escort XR3, and a Sierra Cosworth, and a Mk3 Capri.
Hmmm... let me see... more goodies into the 80's... yes: Pug 205&309GTi.
R5 GT Turbo... Uhhhhmmmm... it's not my speciality really.

But I can see that people find LEGENDARY cars there as well.
With Nappe1's Cartool it is possible to select and save your own field.
So I think, why not. Even though it's not my cup of tea.

not yaris but KP-series Starlet. They are STILL competitive here in national level in rallying and rallysprint. ;)

Ancestor of Startlet is again Publica, which had 2 seater sports sister car, called "Sports 800" and that is in my to do list as it is perfect match to GTC-65... not that I know when it happens.

well, not a fat chance that all of these would be done. :) this is a dreamers' thread. Maker's threads are elsewhere. There's always 100 times more dreamers than the guys who do the cars and the modding / making a car is so huge project games like GTL is that it's maker's own decision which car he makes. So far no request car has been done and I doubt it will ever happen. (unless you count the ones which have been asked by one and then done later on by the very same person.)

The thing is, if you want something, you should not just sit around and wait.

I did get off my butt and as a result we've got now some cars thet I wanted myself too.
Meanwhile I have really gotten a taste for it and I'm not resting until I'm as good as Butch.

OK... that will take a long time... but someday...
