Yes, 80 is possible.

Theoretically you are just limited by the track as to how many can race.

We are running a 40 driver series at NAGP on Thursday nights right now. We haven't quite got all 40 in for a given race yet but we took the steps to edit the tracks to make sure there would be no issues with the starting grids, garage stalls and adding extra pit bays to ease traffic on pit lane.

The only real problem you run into is on the client side. The guys with the marginal hardware tend to struggle with frame rates when grids start getting larger.

We did a multi-class test race at Road America a while back and I think we got 56 drivers start the race. It went quite well with the exception on one guy setting off a big wreck right after the start.

CM

If somebody got a replay that's got over 100 cars.. I would like to see it :-) Pretty please.

There will be at least one technical car limit at 104!! The safety car is numbered as 104 and the count starts from 0.

Here you go ---> http://northamericangp.com/cmoses/Estoril_100cars.Vcr

I hope you have enough cpu, gpu, & ram to run it. :-)

I just took what track I thought had the longest start straight before the S/F line so I could get 100 inside the track bounders; I chose Estoril. I edited the track.gdb from Max Vehicles = 32 to = 100. The game will just generate starting positions directly behind the default grid this way. The proper way to do it would be to actually edit the grid positions, but doing this way you can watch it with the default track you have.

I used the default 2003 & 2004 so you can see the cars. I started 50th in a Seat Toledo and finished 28 in a 3 lap race. I'm surprised I did that well, I haven't driven the Seat or at Estoril since I don't know when.

There was a bit of a pileup at the back of the pack in turn 1, I probably should have done a rolling start instead of standing.

Another surprising thing; my system ran it quite well, never dropped below 70fps with all the graphics maxed out in game and on my card. I am running a E8400 Core2 Duo with an ATI 4870 w/512ram & 4bg of system memory on board.

Enjoy,
CM

Great, except that WinRAR says the file is corrupt.. :crying:

Could you verify that, please?

I re-uploaded the replay file without zipping it, I don't think compressing replay files helps anyway.

I edited my post above with the new link.

Let me know if it works.

Thank you, CM

This works ok :-D. It already put my 010 Editor on its knees while trying to structurize the lap data (for all 100 drive lines..). This is a good test replay for that purpose.

PS. I liked your way entering the pit in the end.. ;)

LOL, yes that darn Viper pissed me off passing on the cool down lap and all, I had to spin him out in pit lane.
