View Full Version : Accuracy of the Nordschleife
I just found this site: http://www.supercarmovies.com/html/interface.html
I must say, the Norschleife I've been driving in GTR Evo is extremely close to the one in those videos. Once or twice I thought "hmmm, that hill looks a little steep" or "different rumble strips", but on the whole Simbin has done a superb job.
Shame GTR Evo only has the Koenigsegg CCX for us to compare to the 5 supercars tested in the online movies :)

I think that the Nordschleife is a superb creation by SimBin.
I am convinced that this track, along with the STCC "mod" have been created by "new blood" at SimBin, as the tracks produced over the last year totally blow away those in RACE06 / RACE07.
So im not sure if they hired new people, or if its just the same people but just given more time and a bigger budget, but they are definatly heading in the right direction.

Check that
Nice video, somehow I missed that back in September.
Of course, the second benefit of that supercars video is so we can compare the simulated CCX to the real thing (and of course our laptimes on other cars can be compared to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times ).
To my mind the simulated CCX feels pretty reasonable compared to the video, similar speeds and suchlike. Of course, simulating a 7 minute track means you get to push harder than real life would ever allow, so I assume people have got the CCX well under the laptime from that video even sticking to "stock configuration".
What I'd like to know is if anyone has managed to get that dreadful barge (Dodge Viper road car) anywhere close to the official laptime as listed on wikipedia. I can't get it remotely close...

Simbin's Nords is currently the most accurate version you will find anywhere as far as layout is concerned. It is missing some track objects (which many have complained about) but you have to realize the FPS hit having EVERYTHING possible modeled on the track.

how come on the video, it says that the CCX only reached 190mph on the long straight... in the game, it goes much faster than 200mph...

At the end of the day, does it really matter?
This version is miles better than any other version available for PC, its silly to get hung up on little details.

The CCX in the supercarmovies.com movie had the Top Gear wing on it so it would not be able to achieve the same top speeds as the car in GTRE. It would also probably be a little easier to drive.

first of all: sorry to bump this old thread, but in my opinion it makes sense to use this one, instead of making a new one..please tell me, if i'm wrong :D
how come on the video, it says that the CCX only reached 190mph on the long straight... in the game, it goes much faster than 200mph...
as said above: this is largely due to the fact that the ccx in the game is the one without a wing and the one marc basseng is driving in the video DOES have the 'top gear wing'. above 300kph it really does make a huge difference and below that, it's extremely beneficial for taking on corners :D
and that's also just about the reason for bumping this thread: does anyone know of a modified ccx for this game? one with a wing? or if anyone has one WIP already? would it even be legal to modify the one in the game, or would it have to be scratch made? simbin should be told to make a patch... :D
