Does anyone know why I have to log into No-Grip everytime I go to a new page. I log in, click remember me, then if I go the download section to the forum or another part of the site, I have to log in again. This has been happening for a while. Does anyone know why? And it is doing it on my computer at work and at home. No-Grip is the only site that does this.
Help.

I had this a few weeks ago when the name changed. I cleaned my pc and that night it worked fine, not sure what fixed it tho, could be that I cleaned all my internet traces and such including cookies. It could fix itself too!!

In my not quite so humble opinion, anyone who doesn't delete cookies or do routine software maintenance deserves all the problems they get. I am thoroughly pissed-off with self-inflicted crap, to the extent that I now refuse to do any tech-support for friends or family unless they can satisfy me that they have actually tried to prevent such difficulties.
I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, therefore if I can understand the nature of such things? why can't they?
For example, my son. Each break from Uni he asks me to 'fix' his PC. For three years I have found the problem to be caused by nothing more than spyware or virus. He seems to think I am stupid because when I ask him about routine maintenance he tells me he has done it. This despite the fact that the system logs tell me that no such programs have been run since I last did it. His mother blames me FFS! According to her, and consequently his stepfather and one of his sisters it is ALL MY FAULT!
This may explain and/or excuse my lack of patience with others.
its a cookie problem caused by changing the forums Vbulletin license last week ->

I know it works ok in IE6, IE7, Firefox & Opera because I have used all those browsers in the last week and not had one problem!

That has always bugged me about trying to fix someones comp."oh yeah..i did this...i did that." no you didnt. And of course...you always end up being the bad guy after it all happens. To quote Homer Simpson..." Here's to alcohol. The cause and solution to all of life's problems":drink:

Or when someone asks you to fix their computer again because they've gotten a virus from browsing porn sites with no security on their system, AGAIN!! And they have porn dialers installed on their system, but they deny ever going to porn sites, after you told them last time to stay away from those sites, or atleast use some security.

I don't let anyone at home even touch my PC anymore. The kids are a nightmare, I have lost count of the amount of times I have wiped their PC's and reinstalled everything. A week later, 'my PC isn't working properly' and then I get blamed as it 'must be something you have done wrong'

Michaudt: follow Scca's advise... Had the same issue and that solved it.

How about a "Family Fee" for PC maintenance?
I hear you man, and totally understand you... I'm no guru but I believe that if you own any kind of "tech" it is YOUR responsibility to understand how to keep it up and running... ESPECIALLY cars and computers. I'd make a list of "Problems and Preventions" and whenenver someone comes up with such an issue it'll be: "Look, it's listed here so it means it's YOUR fault because you don't do the bare minimum effort to keep your own stuff in shape!" People are used to instantaneous-everything now, I miss the good old days of carburators... :(

I do that. I don't do any pc stuff for anyone free. Sick and tired of being the tech support for relatives but luckily they've noticed that I'm not so eager to help anymore :P.

Tried that, was met with incredulity and the question "How can you charge your own son?".

And of course you replied "The same way he can blame me for problems with his PC that he caused himself."? ;)

I just wanted to say thanks for those who helped me. And to that person who laid the big guilt trip on everyone who is not as computer savy as he is.....Go **** yourself. If it bugs you that much, you should stay out of the Site Help Forum!

Now I feel bad. That last post was meant to be humourous, not start a fight. But anyway.....
