I would like to tweak a set of wheels
what programme do I need to do this and what files need to be tweaked

tweaks as in coloring the wheels - maybe redesigning them if its not too difficult

Colouring is pretty easy with Photshop, changing the appearance is a bit more difficult.

You need to extract the wheel .DDS files from the GTR files with Geditor. Then you can play with them and save them as DDS with the nvidia dds plug in for Photoshop.

Google both those things and you will get them. They are free.

Or you can skip all that work and go to Moatlspeed's garage, and pick up some hot wheels there! He has done some "smokin" wheels already!

yup, I already have both of those plug-ins/programmes

what do you re-save the DDS files as ??

I have found out recently that DDS files can be loosely placed into the car folder of choice, and as long as they are named properly, they will will overide the tex files of that car. But normally DDS files are converted back to a tex/gtr file by Geditor. And I didn't mean to suggest that you stifle your urge to do your own wheels. And you may want to look at Martin's (Moatlspeed) to see how he does it? And if you pm him I am sure he would be glad to help or point you in a direction.
