some great racing last night!
Race 1
Extremely hard work with the Pantera. You probably know the saying: "Drive it like you stole it". Well, with the Pantera on this track it felt more like it was driving like it stole you. You're just in it for the ride... :scared:
I did some practice laps to see if I could challenge Hans' times from Sunday. I got down to 2:14,1 which was ok. I knew Hans was going to go faster than on Sunday (no idea how he does it though http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/2404_worship.gif) but it could still be close with the reported tire problems in the race for the CSL.
In qualifying Hans did indeed improve his time from Sunday to a 2:13,6 which is amazing in the CSL. Also Paulo R had found the potential of the Beemer with a 2:14,4. Great laps guys! I finally managed to snatch the pole from Hans with a couple of teths to spare.
I had a good start, but kept running wide with cold front tires. Hans soon took the lead but I was able to keep P2 and just got away from the rumble at the end of the back straight.
The rest of the race was really good trying to keep Hans within reach. I was waiting for that much advertised tire deterioration but it just wasn't coming. I was maybe a bit faster but kept making small mistakes here and there and the gap widened to over 3 seconds. Finally with about 3 or 4 laps to go Hans' pace dropped a bit and I was able to close in again. But it was not enough. Ended up half a second behind Hans at the line. But still, great race!
Race 2
I was hoping for a chance to pay back Hans in race 2, but Hans switched cars. I did the same and took the 911 for this one. It actually felt great and had a good pace too. In qualifying I tried to find the limits of the car and found them on some places but still felt there was a lot to gain.
The race was a bit lonely for me with a massive pile up just behind me in T1. So it became more of a car learning session. I got some 4 tenths of my qualifying time and the whole race time was just a couple of seconds slower than in race 1. On the last lap I slowed down to let Laverda and Matra to fight it out for one more lap. Without that slowing down the time would have been pretty much same as in Race 1. So keep the 911 in mind for the next GTC76 Race. :-)
Grats for podiums to Hans and Paulo in Race 1 and Mogget and Kimi in race 2. Special grats to Daz and Malcom for surviving a race on this track in the Pantera!
I'm of to my summer holiday for the next three weeks. So see you again next season. Have fun! :-)

Unfortunately, I was only able to do the first race.
Fortunately, I did it. What a race. managed a 3rd starting place,
a bit of surprise as it was my very first time with GTL cars at Dubai.
Anyway, lots of good and interesting fights during all race.
Cale and Hans soon got away for their own race, excellent pace guys.
Many thanks to nono, Mogget, Daz and Malcolm for the fun and clean fights.:-)
Congrats to Hans for the win and Cale for the 2nd pace at race 1
Cheers
