View Full Version : per track fuel calculation

Hi:
Most of the track mods that I've gotten here are excellent! Keep up the good work!
Especially with Race 07 tracks, the amount of fuel that it takes to do a lap is low on a lot of the mod tracks. As a result the AI's miscalculate the amount of fuel and make more pit stops than is necessary. Is there something I can adjust on these track's (or the AI's) to make them better at getting the right amount of fuel a race?
Thanks in advance.

fuel consumptions are contained in the vehicles engine file

But the track AIW file also has some lines that govern over-all fuel use. I've found at tracks like Le Mans, which has so much full throttle usage, the fuel mileage shrinks. I've been toying with the idea of creating special AIW files for just the various versions of LM.
In the AIW file, under the [WAYPOINT] section are the following lines:
lap_length=13971.976563
sector_1_length=4450.791016
sector_2_length=10137.128906
LeftHandedPits=0
FuelUse=185444.687500
changing the fuel use line will either increase or decrease the amount of fuel consumed by all the cars. (this saves me from changing about 100 SCC engine files...lazy dave)

I actually think that value just changes the Fuel estimation Calibration, as the car physic files state exclusively that fuel consumption is engine base consumption varied by rpm and gas pedal position.
however, as said, different tracks take different amount of fuel due depending how long periods of time you drive flat out and so the fuel estimation needs to be calibrated per track.
For the real mod I used original tracks to setup the fuel estimation multiplier in engine file right and checked then with long tracks like VLM_Lemans-1977 where I knew the estimation being right in original cars that AI still comes to pit take more fuel in right time, instead of driving themselves all to empty.
just load the aiweditor up ,and make sure you selected one of the orignal cars.owc/kodi..etc and in the unsupported options selected recalute fuel.

Oh, good! I'm glad this can be fixed.
The AI cars always run out of fuel at Laguna Seca (at least, at the version I have).
It's not so challenging when the opponents are all stopped at the side of the road. :-D

Thanks! The AIW file FuelUse was the number I was looking for. The estimate always seems to be wrong...

Finally a track that I can win... :thumbup:

Haha, that's just how I felt. :laugh: It's even more ridiculous with a field of 935s. By the end of the race, most of the AI have rolled their cars in the corkscrew, and are making their way down the track on their roof. :-P

I do that all the time ;-), at least once every race.

Fueluse only changes estimate consumption (not real consumption) but it works in order to make AI load enough fuel for the race :)
