Hi guys is anyone else finding the game run's silky smooth from any of the driving views but when you use the TV camera's on the replay it gets very choppy? I have 2gb ram, e6600 o/c 3.0 ghz and 256MB x1950 XT graphics card. All latest drivers installed and game settings everything to max, except shadows medium and shadow quality medium.
Is this a common issue and are there any obvious fixes? I thought maybe adding another gig of ram as i'm using windows vista?
Hey Jay i think i can help u in that.I have a good system and a week ago i tryed Vista and i got very disapointed with overal performance in games, especially gtr2 because thats the game i play most. The only thing you can do is wait for display driver updates and some vista updates also. Its useful to turn off aero and the sidebar also. Remember to put shadows at medium setting in the game.

Thanks fane, TBH i think GTR2 runs very well in Vista, although compared to my old machine the new computer is a beast, which blurs any comparison for me. Hopefully Vista will get some much needed support soon and iron out this kind of issue.
I like Vista tbh but the problem is the amount of memory that consumes just to show you the desktop. With XP i have 16% usage without doing anything. In Vista i have 35%.For the guys with 2gb memory this is not a problem but i tryed with just one stick and the performance is bad.And with 1gb running gtr2 it will consume almost your memory at all, lets say 95% and dont even think about do some races against 28 AI cars:o

May I suggest, if you have the space, partition the HDD, and Install XP on the "beast" Then when you wish to play GTR2, do it on XP, and you could prolly max it all out with the "beast" That's what I would do. IMO it isn't worht the hassle right now to try to foll with Vista.

Completely turn off Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing. After that, only Macau is stuttery for me.

I found my problem guys - i had replay detail in game settings set to full. Switched it back to high and all is great now. Is there a way of showing FPS like in GTR2? I can run full screen AA at the highest level now and AF at X4, still smooth. Guess Vista isn't as bad as i imagined after all!
Im glad u solve the problem. If u want to see fps all the time get fraps.Thats how i take screenshots, movies etc its a nice program if u wanna know more pm me:)

I don't know about your card JB, but my ATI has that where I can turn it on, and I have it set to be always on, during game or playback!
