Where to start?
Somehow it feels like an arcade game. Maybe not the handling (well most of the time) but something about this game is different to any other simbin title and i cant put my finger on it.
The AI are rubbish again. I know alot of people are going "wow look at the AI they are really good" but take a race on the UK Tour mod for GTR2 and you will see good AI.
After the first race's perade like AI that flashed you (wow) and were reluctant to do anything i thought they would have sorted it but nope. At what point in the PAU WTCC race did they go down to 10 mile an hour on the first corner? Did they stop and crawl around tight corners and generally not have a clue? because thats what the AI are doing (This is at 100% strength) This also happens as usual at Brands hatch at druids. This happens on the first lap then as soon as they get a good gap between each other its single file with the odd overtake though the field :S
The BMW is very erm "strange" when driving around places such as zandvoort where there are drops and crests all over. I know the back end will tend to want to go out around tracks like that but the way this is going all over the place no BMW's would have finished the 2 races there. Although the AI seem to be able to floor it no problem....
Understeer is mind boggling and you cant seem to find your limit like you could on GTL or GTR2. You just seem to be guessing all the time when you cant go any faster.
It just feels like you arent in the car anymore its odd.
I don't want any rants about my thoughts as this is just my presonal opinion
I'm sticking to F3000 to be honest, so the WTCC cars are an enigma to me. Tried those yet?

Yeh. I gave one a blast around pau and it wasnt bad actually :) But seeing as tho i've followed the WTCC for years now (from when it was ETCC) i would quite like the WTCC side of things to be better =p
I've watched them race at Brands (actually there not on TV) and picked up on alot of things that the AI do that really isnt anything like the real WTCC. More like racing with a bunch of Go Kart kids that hit each other in stupid places and slow down and speed up randomly lol
Well if you were relunctant to get this game then why did you get it in the first place?
I also noticed you semi spammed another thread as well by saying "I should have left it"
I personally haven't tried much AI racing but have you considered doing online racing? It's far more exciting if you can find a decent and clean bunch of drivers.
whoops

arrgghhh decent & clean, you ain't raced on many public servers have you? There is always 1 idiot that drives the wrong way, parks in middle of track, blocks on start line, rams at 1st corner or my all time fav knocks you off on your best lap all because your not driving a GT and he is and it would take soooo very long to wait 4 the str8 to blast past. Wasn't impressed with the demo and was stung with the original Race so left well alone .....thank f**£

the one good thing is that almost all races online are closely contested with several laps of cars within less than a second of each other (provided the race stays relatively clean)...the bumper to bumper races are what keep me excited about this game.

I got it because of quite a few misleading reviews saying how good it was. I tried the demo but thought as the reviews were so good they must have sorted some stuff out before the release.
As for semi smamming? WTF
You must be refering to the guy talking about the handling of the f3000 around magny in which case i was talking about the handling with him. The only other place i have posted about race07 is on gamers crib trying to see if any of my fellow GTL mini league racers have got it.

I am with Syncro-Racing and they are a top bunch, just turn up on race nights if you feel like, if not no problem

The lesson is to make your own mind up about a sim. I would never buy a sim if I didn't like the demo. Reviews are always subjective. I love GPL and GTL, but not everyone shares this opinion. People rave about Live For Speed and NetKar Pro but I didn't like the demos and I've not bought the full versions.
Personally, though RACE 07 won't replace GTL for me, I do think its a good sim with good physics and excellent force feedback and I have no problem knowing I'm on the limit. I guess the wheel you use and the settings are always a factor.

You are right about making your own mind up about a sim there David. I guess i was just willing it to be better than the demo as i follow the WTCC and BTCC and could do with a good toruing car sim. It's just unfortunate that the AI on the GTR2 UK TOUR mod is better in my opinion and is more enjoyable (even if it has bugs with brake lights etc) but as it isnt 100% working i am reluctant to play it.
I totally agree with joining up with a racing league but as i am part of the GC mini league i know that it can have some draw backs. Lag, people smacking you off and only racing one night every week etc
It would just be nice to have AI on RACE07 that made me work for positions and not go so slowly into first corners and brake in strange placesetc :)

Correct everyone has their own opinion about things in life which is what makes life interesting. I think we got spoiled with GT Legends. Once you have something very good it is difficult to improve and people will always make comparisons. I also think that they focussed more on online play but being a programmer myself I can confess that doing AI for a circuit like PAU or Porto is very difficult.
Personally I like Race 07 and saw definitely a positive improvement from the previous version. At then end of the day I got two copies (for me and for a friend of mine) for $35 US, shipping included, so I really cannot complaint about the price or bitch too much about it. If it was maybe $50 a copy then one might have valid reason to be unhappy (if there was grounds for it to be) but for $20 I really think it is worth it.
