dude they charge 15 million for the Ferrari 250 TR, a car that won Le Mans 3 times. Only 34 were ever made and the last to be sold broke the record price for any car- over $12,000,000. They aren't big enough douchebags to charge anything like that for these rustbuckets, you could buy yourself an army worth of Starion's for that money.

When they bought the game they knew it only had a max of 8 cars on the grid. And I think there is a reason why the game is sold everywhere for €40 already after just 3 months instead of €60

8 cars on the grid I can't argue with, however if they had more I doubt the game engine could hold 60 fps.

As for the content, it already comes on 2 discs, this isn't like RE5 or MW2 where they are making you pay for stuff already on the disc.

has anyone tried the Zonda R and the Ferrari 599xx yet? I'm close to getting 1.6mil after selling pretty much every car I could, but which is better?

Should I just go for the zonda or keep saving for the 599xx?

I have the Zonda and for an R2 car it isn't too great, it looks and sounds awesome though. I haven't driven the 599XX yet. If you want to try them out go to the Free Play mode. You can drive any car you want.

Edit: So I just went and drove both of these cars again and my previous statement is pretty wrong. I raced the zonda at Barcelona in an R2 class race and on hard difficulty I was 2.5 seconds a lap faster than the AI. Not sure how it woud stack up online but for career mode it's great, the straight line speed is phenominal, I was hitting 160 at the end of the back straight. It understeers though, and is pretty long so I don't think it would be very good on the tight mountain circuits.

The Ferrari is good also, handles like a dream and has some grunt there also. If I had to choose I'd take the zonda because the accelleration is out of this world.

Mine was like 12 forever, then I had a epic day in my R10, won race after race. after race. I was dominiating the room that afternoon. Then fast foreward 1 month i start playing again, and I suck comapred to the other players. everyone seemed to get faster in my absense.

I don't like drifting lobbies, I had more fun in FM2 where it was uncompetative. Now everyone takes it too seriously.

INGS RX7 was all I ever drifted in Forza 2, that thing weighed less than 2,000 lb and had 600 or so horsepower, it was perfect. I can't get it right in 3 though, I've been drifting Subarus instead.

my silvia and my rx7 have 947bhp and 945 bhp respectivley! they are hard to drive but they are amazing drift cars!

idrift the '73 911RS with the 993GT2 motor max tuned, with AWD, works ok, gets points real fast, but is real easy to over do it. T10 shouldve made it so if the rear of your car grinds wall, or you get rear ended during a drift, your points arent voided. i mean serously, Im in the middle of a 4K drift, and some moron in an RX7, just ever so taps me and all mah points are no more....It sucks. So what I did was, in the next event I spawned right behid that RX7 in the starting grid, so when it was go time, I nailed the gas, and sent that RX7, flying into the Silvia in front of it. Also I hate tail draggers, people in FWD cars. Tail Draggin aint driftin. ok, done ranting now.

Yeah that blows. One of the reasons I don't play public drifting lobbies. To be fair public race lobbies are just as bad. I have hardly done any public racing in this game, I was taken out 3 times in an R1 race once and still won the race, there are loads of hopeless players.

The first car in the grid goes first, the other cars are not able to move yet. Once the first driver is X number of feet down the track, or has been driving for 30-45 seconds, ( which ever comes first, so one driver cannot hold up the race by just sittign one place forever ) then the next person goes and so on. it would take longer, but it would be cleaner, less chance of a traffic jam in a slow corner, and would make it harder for wreckers to do that they do best. this mode should be offered along side the regular anything goes free for all, lets crash everyone into the wall mode. the staged mode would be inhabited by the seroius, clean drifters, and the other mode is for, well everyone else.

you can do that in private lobbies, set the time up and how much time each player has got before the other starts

Yeah, the dash lights not working is BS, never in my histiry of gaming have i seen something like this. every game ive played, on all consoles, ( Sega Genesis, PS2, Gamecube and Xbox 360) have been 99.999% glitch free, then comes along FM3, having lights that dont work on so many cars as Fm3 does is unaccpetable. I can see 1 or 2 not working, then they get fixed in the first patch. The production for this game was rushed, and they didnt even bother to fix what they DID NOT FINISH!!, not 1 moth, 2 month, what is it now 4-5 months down the road, and they still have not FIXED THE PROBLEM!!! What, it would take an afternoon at the office to add lights to the cars, then dont do it, but yet here they are adding more cars, and some BS example of a track that isnt available in career. Also, it is BS that you have to have the VIP edition or something to access the VIP cars, and what is even more BS is that you cannot just buy the VIP with M$ pointts in the marketplace. Disapointyed dosent even begun to describe my feelings towards T10. Seriously, they realise an unfinished game and ask that we pay the same price as a finished, glitch free game. if they were going to not finish it, and release it, it shouldve been discounted accordingly.

I agree this really is not good enough. I did however notice on some cars which don't have working dash lights that there are LED's on the steering wheel when you view the car from the outside. The C6R is one example, I think the lights do actually work on the steering wheel but due to the driving view being so far forward in this car you can only see a small bit of the top of the wheel.

Either way, it is really shitty having to use the HUD to race.....:thumbdown:

... Not to mention no real usefulness is to be gotten from the lights because of how horrible their RPM illumination intervals are. 3/4 of the time, all the lights are just on or blinking, telling the driver almost nothing about when to shift. "Pretty lights light up and stuff!!! Cool!"

Interested in the Pantera, but that's about all, it's a real shame they won't sell the cars individually, out of the last 2 DLC packs there have only been 1 car in each I would want.

1) How do folks auction off the same car over and over...? Can you sell a car and still manage to keep it.

2) How can some folks manage incredible lap times on some tracks... there must be cuts...! I'm normally 6-9 seconds back and I'm normally in the top 1-5% on all circuit and time trail leader boards.

3) What is a good way to get credits, I'm always racing the season and some quick races and of course the leader boards. I run the races which offer the most points... but yet always needing more to buy cars like everyone. Just wondering if there is an easier way? Maybe races that I'm not aware off that offer mega points?

BTW, I race on Med, no assist, not race line and sometimes on Hard with only TC with R1/R2 vehicles. 85%-95% .

1) no you cant, they have more of the same car
2) they use cars that are underated.. they are called leaderboard cars. like the viper, under rated with AWD. AWD cars are underated in the game. but dont worry, you'll have a lot good races even with drivers that arent in the leaderboards
3) race and race. its fun and you get money earned:D turn all the stuff off. I've got it on hard and everything off, just got the auto clutch on, it isnt that hard :P

There are several cars that are faster than their PI suggests, the Dodge Viper ACR in 4wd is one, it dominates S class. You can put an engine swap in a mazda lola, put a few more tweaks on it and it's a beast in R2 class. A class and below and R1 class are pretty good, it's R2, R3 and S class where leaderboard cars are the worst.

I've got to driver lvl 45 so far in season 4 (and I've done a few of the events in the events list) and I've still not made that much!

I was looking at buying the Ferrari P4. Until I saw the price.

It is good that they have released the VIP pack, don't get me wrong, but their idiotic pricing of the cars and the packs is very off-putting.

I've just spent £17 on 2100 M$ points (digital delivery, best price I could find, I would add them online via Live but I don't have a CC) and, unless my maths is incorrect, I still can't get all the DLC packs!

I am not spending another £17 so I can get them all, when I only want 1 or two cars from each DLC pack and the new tracks (Nurb, high speed and the sidewinder tracks from the first 2 versions of the game), that'll end up being nearly the price of the game itself!

Still, at least they've bothered to make a race spec Ford GT. :thumbup:

As for the DLC and stuff, you don't have to buy any of it and they give you one car from it for free. They haven't done what they did in Forza 2 and released the best cars in the DLC packs. It's not like Modern Warfare 2 where they are holding back content that they could have put on the disc, the game already had 2GB of extra install content.

Oh I dunno, there are plenty of logo uploaders with some quite good logos, and plenty of guys upping their tuning setups, car liveries etc.

The FM3 community for racing may not be as strong as it was in FM2 but I'd put that down to the sequelitis, i.e. 1 sequel too far for many people.

However in order to get the Audi R15 and Aston Martin Lola LMPs you have to buy a car pack with cars that you may never wish to buy/drive which are purely there for advertising the car companies cars, and there are enough of those in the game already.

If the DLC cars were available on a per car basis for, let's say MS100 per car, then people probably wouldn't have such a problem with it.

Or even better, the DLC packs contained nothing but "legendary" cars or race cars, not cars from 2009/10 that are basically there to generate interest in the car companies product lines.

Oh and just a warning to those looking at the Legends pack, there is no Delorean (not that you'd want it imo...) and there is no Lancia 037 Stradale!

Another Legends pack on the way then, along with whatever the Doran Ford GT-R will come with... :thumbdown:

I have to agree with freejrs here.

Before the tragedy in Haiti T10 were not giving any of the proceeds of the VIP pack away were they? So that blows that argument out of the water, doesn't it?!

And what was wrong with T10 putting the VIP pack up for download after entering your code, instead of putting the cars in the game but locking them? I'm sure freejrs wouldn't have a problem with that as he wouldn't see the cars are even there.

As for the game being half complete, again I have to agree with freejrs. Not only have they missed out the digital displays in many cars but also there are a quite a few graphical glitches, and pop-up issue at tracks, vinyls applied to your cars blur on the start line FMV and the cockpit views have terrible eyepoint positions. Take the Ferrari GTO (or F40 forget which), when it's got the rollcage in it, the cross bar sits right in the way of the eyepoint, and on tracks with gradients you can't see up the gradient because the frigging rollcage is in the way!

And as for it being a rip off being a matter of opinion you are right of course, and whilst I don't agree that the main game is a total rip off, despite it's many problems, I personally think the whole DLC thing is a rip-off and needs a rethink.

I took a look at buying the Shelby Daytona Coupe last night, 15 million if you want to buy it! The most you can win in any series iirc is 300k(ish), and I don't suppose there is much more to be made online (if you win credits online still, I've not actually raced online yet so I don't know if that feature is there still)!!!!!!

Now unless my maths is wrong, that 15 million would take forever and a day to achieve, especially seeing as for single player you need to buy cars, and I doubt that anyone will ever buy such expensive cars!

1.5 million for an car is reasonable but 15 million, nah! This isn't some collectors club for Arab sheiks, it's a racing game!

And whilst those cars are in the game, with such a huge, practically unobtainable price tag, other cars could have been included as stock content that you could afford, like, oh I don't know, a Ford GT-R (or GT3 (yes I know the GT-R is rumoured to be on the way)) or a Merc CLK GTR race version (you would have thought that after 2 versions of Forza already, and now the 3rd, that T10 would have struck a deal with Merc to put that in, even if the paint scheme has to be left blank, they certainly don't seem to have a problem getting their new Merc cars into the game.), or made available in the DLC instead of the ridiculously priced cars like the Shelby Daytona!!

The Ferrari P4, is a prime example, it is stock content and costs 11 million! Why? It was in FM2 at a reasonable price and I bought/race/painted one myself and quite enjoyed it. So why T10 have had a lobotomy and upped the price to make the car practically unobtainable I don't know. :thumbdown:

I see why people would be annoyed with the car pricing, but it's a game design choice to have cars that are worth what they are in real life, hence why the faster car in the game is much cheaper than the rarest. I think it's fair to call Forza a driving game more than a racing game because a big part of the game is just driving these special cars. It works pretty well because the money people rake in from the storefront, now even the richest of the rich will think about buying the fastest car in the game. I bought the Aston Martin 1-77 for 1.8 million I think, and because it was such a big investment of credits I'm more likely to use it.

The VIP membership was a bit of a dick move, they should have done it like Bioware did and offer it up for download on day 1. As for the content of the VIP membership, I've been happy with it. It's really cool them gifting cars. The Highcroft Acura was especially sweet.

At the end of the day, if you think something is a rip off then don't buy it, I won't go out and shop at Waitrose because I think it's a rip off, but the next guy might shop there every day. If you are happy with what you are getting, like I am, then you will have no problem.

As Raven says, saving up £15M credits is not realistically possible. I don't have the time or inclination to do that.

I think it makes the point very clearly about seeing/wanting everything there is to have and not having the means to obtain it. Where is the pressure coming from but yourself, everyone has the ability to excercise free will and make choices.

Forza 3 is a game where you can buy many different cars to paint and modify yourself. The whole point of the game is to collect and modify as many of the cars you want as possible.

Going to a Restaurant is something you do when your hungry and can't be bothered to cook. You do not go to a restaurant to try every dish they offer. You do not modify the salads until you are happy with the arrangement. You do not tune the pasta to increase it's performance. You do not try and drift the bread basket and you do not have to be a VIP member to try all the dishes available.

Got it driving reasonably well, I can beat an S class field in the S class World cup around Camino (or whatever it's called), gonna try Circuit De La Sarthe (current layout) now and see how it goes. Veryron might pose a problem though. :ohmy:

That's one thing I always wonder when trying to make a replica of an old race/rally car, would they have had adjustable suspension, rollcage, antiroll bars etc. etc. back in the day.

Eg. I was making a Fiat Abarth 131 rally spec replica (bought a nice skin off the Storefront:thumbup:). Would this beast have had adjustable suspension??

Dunno about the suspension but I would imagine that to race them these days any historic cars would have to have a roll cage installed due to health and safety regs.

So I'm quite happy sticking the modern bits on. It's not like I'm racing in a historic racing championship and I would imagine that any real life working cars such as the 330 P4 don't have their original stock brakes, shocks, dampers etc. due to them being worn out during racing or simply just not preserved very well.

I could be wrong on that though...

I like to look upon such cars in Forza as being modern replicas rather than the real thing, they're not exactly accurate in terms of weight/bhp etc. and you can put modern parts on them so it's only the wheels/body shell that are period imo.

I decided to take a look on the AH last night and amazingly I found an almost fully tuned P4 for 260,000CR buyout!!??:?::ohmy:

I didnt think I had any cash but I found a Lexus race car that T10 gifted me which I was able to sell back to the game for 300,000CR! So I got the Ferrari for cheap.......

Seems strange that people are selling it so cheap as all the other cars over 10M CR are still holding thier value.

Hey everyone, I’m happy to report that the latest Forza Motorsport 3 patch (codenamed TU4) has just cleared Xbox 360 certification and will be going live sometime in the nether hours this morning (3/9) – anywhere between 2AM to 4AM PST. The obvious question you guys are anxious to have answered is what the patch addresses and adds to FM3. Before we continue, we’ll be monitoring the comments section for trolling and unconstructive comments, including the repeated request for public multiplayer lobbies. Fixed a couple bugs, including the 6th gear shift and the transmission swap gear ratio exploits. A partial Leaderboard wipe will come week of 3/15 – those of you caught using this exploit starting from 2/26 will be permanently banned from all features of Forza Motorsport 3 online.

We’ve also fixed a handful of minor issues including occasional shadow popping in multiple car heats, a controller layout (#11) that had gas and brakes reversed on the triggers, etc.

Someone wanted to know whether there will be changes to the current hoppers that are live in order to make room for the new hoppers coming online. Very good question, and the answer is yes. This will be a 2 part process. First of all, we will make some immediate changes to hoppers by downsizing.

Circuit RWD will be consolidated into just A Class RWD and will be moved into Playground. The category just does not have the numbers to sustain itself as a 5 hopper system.

A Class Expert moves from Playground to Circuit category.
*
On a weekly basis, we will be looking at all hopper numbers. Those that do not maintain a decent number of players during peak primetime gaming hours will get killed.
*
We will narrow down our set of hoppers until we have a core number of hoppers that are sustainable and the community are interested in (by voting with their game time).

To be honest there are only 3 cars (2 DLC, 1 stock content) that are over 10 million, the rest are more reasonably priced at <4 million. But even so I think it's a dumbass idea and many over at the official Forza forums have also stated they think it's a dumbass idea.

Not that I am aware of. Only whatever you get when you complete the race you were currently doing.

Sell some cars, do some races, create some storefront stuff, there's plenty of joes out there who'll buy stuff.

I just sold the Porsche 911 GT1 street version that I was gifted by T10, for 650,000 cr so I'm 650K up without spending a dime. ;)

It's one of many auctions I have on the AH (I sold a CSL with just the extra body work on it for 128k, only a small fraction over what it cost me but I still sold it).

Yeah I've only had 1mil max in my account (currently at 800k, well I will be when I get home and dl the 650k I just made).

The trick is to use as many prize cars as possible in season mode, i.e. don't buy cars and don't spend much on them.

Then find a series in event mode that has big bucks for the prize money and keep doing it with a car you already have, the
S or R3 class world series are good ones for that iirc.

That's the theory anyway. It's worked for me but I keep spending credits on tuning setups, vinyl groups and designs...

Yeah but GT4 was always easy when it came to the credits side of things. That's why so many people could exploit that prize car and buy the best cars for each race and totally destroy the opposition.

That isn't quite the case in Forza, and I find it much more balanced in that respect.

Besides 1hrs racing can net you circa 200k or more depending on the series iirc, and I for one would rather race in a series for an hours than do the same track over and over and over and over and, er, over, and then sell off the prize cars.

It makes buying a car just that little bit more rewarding, to a point...

One thing I did for a bit was hire a driver for an endurance race and leave my xbox on over night. You only get half the cash and you need to be in a car that is sure to win but you can gain a fair bit doing it. Can't be bothered to leave my xbox on anymore...

ravenmorpheus2k, and no you can't import images.

It amazes me as well how some logos are done. Don't expect much from my storefront though, I'm not all that good. I just have a few logos and 1 design (which actually isn't fully finished yet (needs a few more logos)) and that's it so far. I just don't seem to get enough time to sit and make logos. And I tend to only make logos I want to use on my cars, but so far I've downloaded most of the ones I've used and I've not really bothered doing many liveries.

Ok Zud answer me this, how many times have you got to do the Nords 187km (or 128miles Road America, or 17 laps of Le Mans) to get 1million and how many hours would it take?

My point being - you have to spend a heck of a lot of time doing any of the endurance races to make a significant amount of money.

Mind you the 13 race R1 world championship does sound quite appealing, given that you get 428k for completing it...

How many times have I done the endurance races? I've done all of them once except for the E and D class races. I've done 62% of the event list in 79 hours of racing (That includes prolly around 10 hours of multiplayer) The best way to make money is do championships you haven't done yet, because the reward for the championship boosts it. I've earned about 10 million in winnings, about 200k on the storefront and sold most of the cars I've received through levelling and been gifted by T10.

The 13 race R1 championship si long but pays well. All of the world championships do.

All of the endurance races are set up to last around an hour, give or take ten minutes.

How many times have I done the endurance races? I've done all of them once except for the E and D class races. I've done 62% of the event list in 79 hours of racing (That includes prolly around 10 hours of multiplayer) The best way to make money is do championships you haven't done yet, because the reward for the championship boosts it. I've earned about 10 million in winnings, about 200k on the storefront and sold most of the cars I've received through levelling and been gifted by T10.

The 13 race R1 championship si long but pays well. All of the world championships do.

If you're only playing the game, for arguments sake we'll say 2 hours a week, that amount of hours would take 39.5 weeks to achieve! There's only 52 weeks in a year!

I can see what you're saying Zud but what I'm saying is, there is no way anyone, who doesn't play the game day in day out, can make substantial amounts of money quickly, especially when you keep needing to buy cars for each class, regional races etc., if you don't have them in your garage from doing Season mode either as prize cars or having bought them already. Not to mention that selling cars on the AH is getting difficult, for example, Ferrari P4s are going for a 10th of their list price these days, one of the two I've had up has anyway. So selling the gift/level cars isn't all that easy. Currently I'm trying to sell a P4, a Ford GT and a Risi F430 gifted by T10, and no-one is buying. :(

The best way to make money is to do events you haven't done before, because you get a bonus for finishing a championship. If you just do the same event over and over you aren't earning as much as you can.

A great way to make money IMO is the storefront. Put all of your designs on the storefront for a couple of thousand and you will get some cash on the side. If you advertise on the Forza forum you will sell decent amounts. I have to warn you, the Forza forum is full of dumbasses, still, dumbasses with money. I've earned around 200k over the weeks on it, and I haven't used it very much.

Obviously 5mill was an exaggeration, genius. Idk, I seem to remember getting like 3 or 4 hundred thousand for one of those endu races. I don't race offline anyway and I have a garage worth like 30mill and parts worth near 1.5 or 2mill.

Just bought myself a Mazda Foo-rye (Furai), anyone got any ideas for a replica race livery I could have a go at trying (after I finish doing the 4 logos I need to do for the CCGT livery I've been working on)?

I thought about doing the Mazda 787B livery (Orange/Green, Reknown logos etc.) but I think that would look pants.

Ok so I went for the 787B livery replica idea, needs some more logos but it's coming along quite nicely imo. The front of the car looked a bit crap with just green/orange and the white lines so I did a bit of a front grill on it.

Yeah that's due to the way that area of the car is styled, i.e. The curves/raised ridges. I would move it but then it won't look like the original livery. So not a lot I can really do about it.

I need to do a bit more work on that logo though because the R doesn't quite look right either, I kinda rushed it last night.

Logos are the easy part though. Getting the white dashed lines and the triangles of color done right was a real pain in th ass.

3hrs so far. Mainly because I was having a problem working out the angles. :banghead:

Then I used triangles of colour first and applied the lines afterwards... :lol:

I'm gonna do some more logos for it tonight, I need to do a Dunlop logo, the Mazda logo so I can put it on the sides and colour it a darker blue/black (I fudged it and used the stock one and covered over the circular symbol) and a few others.

Might be a while before I finish it, I still have some logos to do for the Minolta CCGT livery I've been doing...

Problem is the car has so many curves (or it's the way T10 have made the model) that it is difficult to achieve a reasonable look to the livery, especially on the sides, because the vinyl groups tend to curve/bend in a way you don't want.

The foo-rye is one of the more difficult cars to paint I would say.

Yeah the front grill helps, otherwise it'd be a triangle of orange surrounded by green with the dashed lines covering the join. With that it did look pants.

Just want to work out how to add a bit of depth to the edges so it looks like it's recessed but that area is a pita to do anything on.

Yeah I agree, putting Merc stickers on an Audi is dumb, that's one of the reasons I don't like all the F1 "replicas" on cars on the AH, particularly the McLaren ones.

I'm going to get all the logos done first and then see where I can place them. Currently the only one that could do with resizing/moving to another area is the Renown logo on the sides.

I thought there was a button to press to mirror things as well. But I couldn't find it. Besides if you look carefully enough the right probably isn't quite an exact mirror of the left on that Furai design I've just done...

To mirror stuff in forza there is no button, you have to write down the location, size, rotation, and skew #'s that are shown. then copy the shape you want to mirror. on the other side of the car, paste your shape. then adjust the #'s so they are the opposite of the other side. so if your shape is placed at 235 on the left it has to be at -235 on the right, size stays the same, if it is rotated 10 degrees on the left, it has to be -10 ( 350 degrees) on the right. skew I find to be the most difficult. for example of you have a rectangle, and you skewed it to the right on the left side, you have to skew it to the left direction on the right side. with more complex shapes, getting a skew to match just dosent seem to work some times.

The beat way to copy stuff from left to righ or other way is it highlight all the stuff you want copy it then paste on the other side just have to more it into the right place

Yeah that only works for the left/right sides though. random1self was referring to the top/hood. And iirc lettering ends up back to front (did in FM2 iirc, dunno if they've fixed that). ;)

No, what I meant was you can copy the half you want to mirror from the top onto the one side and then mirror it, you get the perfect opposite you can just copy and paste to the top.
