I have no time for public races in this game, maybe when only good people play it when the popularity dies a bit more, but I doubt i'll do much public racing.

No, what I meant was you can copy the half you want to mirror from the top onto the one side and then mirror it, you get the perfect opposite you can just copy and paste to the top.
Yeah what about the mirrored lettering being backwards (see my edited post above)?
Good idea when you're only doing basic shapes but I've found it doesn't always work for me.

So just bought this game, well traded some titles in for it, only a few races in but i rather like it. Had rented but not got far, question: Is there a way to make the steering not so sensitive?
My limited xp with F3 - (rental only) im just not sure how to make the car quit "wandering" but i do seem to love the game.

There is no sensitivity setting as far as I know but you can adjust the deadzones at the start and end of the thumbsticks travel. Maybe if you increase the deadzone at the start you will get rid of the wandering.

thats one of the problems i had with my old controller. what would happen is i would put in a small input on the thumb stick and it jerk back in the opposite direction just as far as i had i had input to the other direction.

So then the question for me quickly becomes, which is the better deal. The Splinter Cell Conviction bundle(if I can get a hold of it) with the two controllers, 250 gig harddrive, and buy Forza 3, and Halo ODST, or get the Halo/Forza bundle, buy an extra controller, and to heck with the extra 130 gig harddrive space?
Former?
Later?
I'm still leaning former....thoughts?

Well i heard conviction was kinda lame, but guess it depends on how much u like that game. I only have a 20gig HD and dont really use it.. but i dont also do a lot of dlc or games at the same time.

120GB is all you will ever need, to install a game on the hard drive uses 7GB or so. Demos are rarely over 2GB, unless you plan on installing every game you get then you will never run out of space.
ODST and Forza are worth the purchase, I'd hold out until there are some reviews flying around for Conviction before you spend the extra money.

Now those are the kinds of thoughts I was hoping to hear. Not the oh, the bigger this is better. Or the faster that. I could get the Halo/Forza bundle and the accessory pack or whatever it's called. Controller, charger kit, HDMI cable and all for about 90 bucks. So a few pennies saved their perhaps. I'm not too sure, just weighing the pros and cons.
Thanks for the good thoughts fellas.

So if I follow the recommendations, which have just about comvinced me, cause while I do believe you can never have too much of anything, including harddrive space. I believe Tim Allen, and TVR's motto's speak the truth, too much power is just barely enough, still there are always exceptions to any rule, of thumb or not.
However, I do kinda feel like I'm getting hosed a little bit by the bundle deals. So it does sound best to go with the Elite deal with two free games. And if I do so I guess I'm going to have to brush off my old Gran Turismo Dual Shock driving skills, which are of some note, as many at the late great gtttimes would contest. This is because I will not buy one of the lamely reviewed Xbox compatible wheels.

Microsoft just announced you can use flash drives for storage: http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/03/26/USB-Memory-Support-for-the-Xbox-360-coming-April-6th.aspx
I don't think you can install games to it, but it says "storing profiles, game saves, demos and more." so you can save some decent HDD space with this, it's very welcome considering my 20GB is pretty tight on space right now.
ALEXZANDER
26 March 10, 15:55
I think the next gen consoles should have at least 1TB on the base model units. and like 5TB on the high end model .And before someone says im a crazy nutcase that shouldnt be left unsupervised, i to believe that you cannot ever have too much HDD space. But I take it to the next level.
markspeed
26 March 10, 19:03
I kinda doubt that. I imagine that the new consoles might be totally digital media machines. No harddisk media of any kind. They'll be a totally online design. With games by way of fee for service. Perhaps some kind of pay as you play setup. After what we've seen thus far. They aren't going to miss any opportunities to rake in a much money as possible. Prices might not be as high as they are now, but everything will cost. Even the in-game music will require a fee for service.
And I don't imagine the games will be as good on average. Look at what has happened the film industry. The gaming industry is following that track. More gimmicks, less substance. More dazzling graphics, less keep you interested content inbetween the cut scenes. If that sounds bleak to anyone. Tell it to your local theater/cinema.

Basicly what I'm saying you can't race on line with anyone in those classes
because it's just silly they need to sort that out!

1TB should be all you ever need, whats the capacity of a blu ray disc? 40GB? 1TB would be ample.
For the moment. File sizes, clock speeds, RAM requirements etc. are ever increasing though. Remember a certain William Gates saying the most RAM (or could have been hdd space) anyone would ever need would be something which at the time was seen as quite a lot but is now considered tiny and unusable, like 256MB? (could have been a famous misquote though)
Good to hear that game saves and whatnot can be moved to flashdrives, I'm just hoping it's not like readyboost where only certain USB sticks will work.
And I hope you can use them to run game saves from, not just store them, if so I will buying a separate 1-4 GB stick for each game I have, if it's possible to use multiple sticks for multiple games...
Anyhoo back to Forza 3...
...The Furai livery I've done is on my SF and so far only 1 person has bought it, despite putting up a WIP thread at the official Forza forums... :(
He did however send me a message saying it's the most detailed around, so many thanks to whoever that was for the kind words. :)

Er thanks. To be honest I don't think that many people are interested in livery replicas, unless their McLaren, Brawn, Mercedes etc. Philistines.
I have a LMP on the AH as well, it's costs 2 million brand new and they're going for <10th of that. It's ridiculous, no-one can make any real serious money from the AH anymore.

Er ok. You could have just used the search term 787B. Worked for me the last time I tried it. ;)
I searched 787B and put replica in the keyword, went through all of them assuming yours would be there. I think there were 3 or 4 versions of it, all quite different. If you haven't already you want to add 2 keywords, because people are more likely to find it that way.
ravenmorpheus2k
27 March 10, 09:14
Ok well not to dispute that or anything but I just put in 787b in the keyword search (no car make/model filters) and it shows mine 3rd down the list of most recent. And even when I apply the filters for Mazda and Furai it still shows third down the list of most recent.
And now that I have added a description it comes up top of the list of most recent when I search for it using the keywords 787b replica.
However it is the third most expensive design with the 787b livery and the most expensive on a Furai as well...
...mind you it is more accurate than the one by CWO83, which is the second most expensive...

Ok so I'm getting bored of racing and want to do some more liveries, so I posted this over at the Forza forums - http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/3774320/ShowThread.aspx#3774320
Ok so I've been doing a couple of liveries recently and I think I've got quite reasonable at them...
My XBL gamertag is actually ravenmorpheus2k, check my SF for samples of the logos and the 2 liveries I've done, also bear in mind I did quite a few on FM2, which can be viewed here - http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/1921963.aspx
So I thought I'd take some requests, basically I'm bored and want something to paint.
If you have any replica race liveries you would like me to have a go at please post here.
I do have a few caveats (rules) though -
1. It has to be something that you don't see spammed all over the place, so for example, no F1 replicas (unless they're something that hasn't really been done).
2. I have to have the car already, so post what car you'd like it on and I'll check my garage, or if I have the cash for it I'll buy the car.
3. I mainly do stuff based on older cars, such as the Toyota 88C Minolta livery I've done (on a CCG) or the Mazda 787B on the Furai, so please bear that in mind, I can have a go at more recent liveries but I prefer the older ones.
4. No liveries that would look out of place on a car, i.e. Mercedes cars with a BMW livery (i.e. Merc with BMW logos all over it).
5. I will need source pics so any help you as the person requesting the livery can give in that area will be appreciated.
So with all that in mind make your requests and I'll see what I can do. Smile
So let me know if any of you have any requests. :)

Search on the storefronts for Nissan and keyword enjuku and there are a few of them, one looks very well done, it's by dat bwoi on the #46 Fairlady Z, price 10k. ;)
Oh btw I forgot to mention, I hate liveries like that one and many of the others on Japanese cars (mostly drift cars), purely because they have obsucre bits on them like the black stuff on the side of that one.
Oh and I haven't got around to getting carbon fibre done yet. Need to find the FM2 tutorial with pics so I can have a go, last time I tried it on the create vinyl group canvas it didn't go too well, think I need to be doing straight onto a car from scratch...

28 March 10, 10:26

ravenmorpheus2k
28 March 10, 10:59
Yeah thanks. :)
I just found the CF guide again and did some CF. Looks good.
Tried to do an FXX with CF all over though, front bumper says no.
Worked well on the top of a Mini Cooper though. Mini Cooper with a CF roof anyone?
I swear T10 have done something silly to many of the models UVW mapping which makes them difficult to paint properly in certain areas. :?:
Finding liveries that I want to do, that haven't been done already and done well is actually quite difficult. I was going to do a classic Yellow/Black Renault 5 Turbo rally car livery, but it's been done a few times (shame about the black plastic bumpers not being paintable though). And it seems to me that painters have no life, either that or they've found way of importing vinyls from FM2, because they seem to be able to make liveries up in a few minutes with tons of logos on them!

raven - you could try the all purple xjr-14 silk cut on the furai? (edit) or the funky stoner looking martini 917 on the #26 porsche 911 gt1? or champion audi r8 onto the audi r15? ive no clue what your car collection is?
ravenmorpheus2k
28 March 10, 20:46
Looking good. Can't say I'm a great fan of the Silk Cut liveries, don't like the purple/yellow mix but yours is looking good.
And long smooth flowing double lines depends on what car you're painting, the Furai seems to be especially difficult to achieve this on.
I'm currently doing a 2001 Skoda Octavia WRC livery (Armin Schwartz, Monte Carlo Rally) on a VW Bora (Yeah I know, rule 4, but VW own Skoda and the Bora does look a little bit like the Octavia) as a request for a guy over at the Forza forums so that should keep me occupied this week.
Got any pics of the "funky stoner looking" Martini 917?
That might be a good one for me to do after the Skoda. Although last time I did a Martini livery was in FM2 on a 911 (or could have been a 959) and getting the Martini lines to curve was a pain in the ass...

When I was doen with the intro race, I wen into AH on my new save and canceled all my auctions. had cars put back into garage. so I was lvl 1 with a audi R10. Used it in some of the beginner races. By the end of the second lap ,i usually had the whole field lapped. :)
Kinda defeats the purpose of racing if you're gonna smoke the whole field.
ravenmorpheus2k
30 March 10, 16:48
Meh. The "series" like the Svenska cup (or whatever they call it) are mickey mouse nothing series that are only there to fill the game up and provide competitive racing early on in the career imo. Once you progress and get better cars they become rather pointless.
And I'd rather do 3 lap races in a CCGT and smoke the field than do 3 lap races in some crappy Swedish road car.

I would want it in the game, you're not the only one playing the game here in the world, and the game is not meant to be made only for u.
and come on, I bet you already got your favorite car in forza, since you wouldnt buy a racing game with crap cars, and since you already got the game, stop complaining, if there are people who wanted the X6M, why do you got to complain when you've already got driveable cars in the game that you already race with? stick to your cars and stop being that paranoid. I already got the FXX in the game, and the 300c, thats all I really need, I dont care about the other cars that are coming as a DLC, I dont see why people are getting angry about it when they already paid for something that they like, if the game is so bad when it comes to car variation, why did you buy it? do you expect that T10 should listen to what "you" would like to drive? come on dude, knock it off
something that id really like to see is the addition of new rims/wheels. so many cars and so little choice of wheels... sigh

So how far along is everybody? I'm driver level 3 I think, with two cars over Rep Level 2. My Fiat Abarth is now lookin like an out and out racecar. It's loaded with stickers which are good for about 80 horsepower I think(Lewis Hamilton eat your Mac ;-) ). My Scirocco is a nice little sleeper. Especially for a FWD. Perhaps a driveline swap will make it more fun to drive.

Does any one else have the guilty pleasure of putting stickers on their cars? I'm completely absorbed into putting the stickers of each part I purchase somewhere on the car. It's not perfect cause some parts don't have a sticker. I'm constantly trying to find the most professional look for each cars decals and livery. It's oddly comforting and time consuming.
Does this mean I should start skinning in GTR2?

Nice. But...
...pretty much every single one of those cars is let down by one thing, the wheels.
If you notice the real life cars have colored wheel rims that are not metallic, such as the SBR Irwin car which has yellow rims. And unfortunately you don't seem to be able to paint the rims in FM3 with anything but metallic colors, I've been trying to get white rims and they just come out as silver. :(
Damn good liveries though, there are some really good painters out there.

Hobo, if you set your 360 up near your computer you can connect it to xbox live through that instead of shelling out for a rip off wireless adapter. You need to mess with some network settings which I have forgotten how to do, I'm sure there are tutorials on the internet.

Easy as pie.
Cat 5 patch cable. Plug it into a PC and the 360.
On your PC -
Set a manual IP address and subnet mask in your LAN connection adapter under the IPv4 properties.
I have the following -
IP 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Run a CMD window and type IPConfig (whilst connected to the web) and make a note of the DNS settings you have under the connection that is your internet connection (hopefully not your LAN port otherwise this probably won't work, should work OK with a wireless connection though).
Then put those into the DNS settings on the LAN connection.
On the 360 -
put in the following (IP address can be whatever you want)
IP 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (note that both the PC and the 360 have to be on the same subnet mask)
Gateway 192.168.0.1 (this is what you put in the LAN connection properties under IPv4 as the IP address)
DNS (these are what you grabbed from IPconfig and also put into the LAN connection properties under IPv4), which in my case is -
Preferred 149.254.192.126
Alternate 149.254.201.126
Last step is to setup ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your adaptor that is the internet connection (in my case a 3G dongle but in your case probably your wifi connection) so that the LAN can use the internet connection.
Then connect/disconnect from the web (or reboot the 360 and PC) and then connect to XBL and you should be good to go. ;)

It's nice as FWD cars go indeed. But wait till you put together some scratch and mod it. As a RWD it's quite fun, and tail happy. As an AWD it's a beast in grocery getters clothing. It eats up everything in the C class I've seen so far. And it looks like it'll beat up many in the B class too.
But apparantly the V-Dub Golf R32 seems to be the king of asskickery in the leaderboards up to the B class 500 level at almost all the tracks I've raced on.

Hmm yeah. But there does seem to be a preferred car in each class. From what I've noticed anyway. I definitely don't believe that under scrutiny the leaderboards are all that open, I bet if you go through them there are a core of cars that are used over and over again.
I could be wrong though. I often am...
zud the spud
12 April 10, 20:03
No I agree, S class and above there is usually one car that dominates. I think this is because when you get over S class the upgrades are less common, whereas every car in A class can be fine tuned to exactly the limit of PI in R1,2,3, and S there are fewer cars that have fewer but bigger upgrades. Hence cars that can meet the exact PI tend to dominate, such as the Mazda Lola in R2. This coupled with the advantage AWD seems to have.

No doubt on that. I am certainly noticing that FWD and AWD cars have an advatage to them. So far all the FWD's I've driven, Fiesta, Focus, Scirocco have almost no torque steer, and very minimal understeer.
AWD's, atleast my AWD Focus seems to have no handling bias at all. Clear crisp turn in. Barely a hint of understeer. And exactly the right amount of throttle-on oversteer to be usefull. Whereas my RWD'ed Focus had major grip problems it shouldn't have had. At just around 300 horses, on street tires, or sports tires it should not have been so terribly tail happy. It was way more difficult to put the power down in the RWD focus, than it was in the FWD Focus with the same power. 300 horse FWDers often have trouble putting the power down as weight transfers rear. RWDers, even front engine ones don't have this problem so much. Of course the AWD focus shouldn't have a traction problem at launch, but it sure can in turns in the real world. I mean seriously, I've driven an 86 Trans Am(with a seriously modded lump) and a 89 Ford Mustang LX that consistently nailed 14 flats on stock tires in the quarter, both of which had more grip on road tires than the Focus RWD does on sport tires. So that's something of a balance issue, or an exaggeration issue I guess. And that would be understandable if this were Gran Turismo we were talking about. But I could've swore that Forza's staple was to be better at this than Polyphony. I guess not.
But so far as I can tell from the leaderboards the Golf R32 dominates the F, E, D and C classes. Everytime I look at the leadersboards after a hotlap, or race all I see is the Golf, with the occassional mention somewhere in the low top 20 and beyond. But the top ten is always so far as I recall all Golf R32. That car must have the magic formula of weight to power, grip to power, and drivetrain config, allowing for the most and best modding to fill up to the class spec.

Yeah normally it's a low R1 class, I'm not sure if you can do some upgrades to make it better. What you can do is remove the normal engine and put in a 190 something hp engine to drop it a few classes. A few months ago I ran into a couple of people on multiplayer using it and my unrestricted Lexus Super GT was pretty evenly matched it seems, but then again I've not played much public multiplayer and what I have played they were terrible.

A Mazda Lola with the Lotus Elise lump hahahaha! It actually accellerate with exuberance, till it hits the aerodynamic brick wall at prolly about 120mph with that lump. You'd have to dump all the downforce in order to get some speed out of it. You could probably operate the throttle like an on/off switch for all the traction problems you wouldn't have. The tranny would probably flash a big neon sign on the dash that says [BORING] everytime you touch the throttle.

Couple of hours. I see what you mean now. They may not be all that easy to do.
A couple of tips - don't use large shapes to make the whole thing at once, use various small shapes, particularly where curves are concerned. And use shapes to "cut into" other shapes to create the shape you want.
btcckid
18 April 10, 17:50
thats what i did, cut some of the corners off with circles(for the curves) and others for parts sticking out slightly.......
and to ge the actual shape, i managed to make a vinyl piece slightly thing and curved but nothing flame like as a breif, more just awkward abstract design. do u reckon you could have ago see how it comes out for you with the top gear flame?, uve done more forza design so im sure youd do a better job but i want to know its possible with that one

It's actually still pretty quick, it hits 190 iirc. That's why it's so broken.
I wonder how it pulls 190(mph correct?) with the downforce? Or is this another game that doesn't properly calculate the drag induced by DF? I would hope everyone had learned the lessen of Gran Turismo 3 by now. I just watched and episode of Attack of the Show, and during the Whips Rides and Hoons segment they mention the new Cop car made by Custom Carbon or some name like that, and they claim it does 200 mph with a 265hp and 400lbs/ft of torque, diesel engine which is impossible. An E type Jag can't go that fast and it's definitely got less drag. I think they heard 200 kph and misinterpreted. And that's probably what the Forza developers did by mistake. I mean a Lotus Elise is probably more slippery and it can only do what 140mph with it's 200 or so horsepower. I think all these racing games need more math. Cause there's stuff in Forza and many other games that just don't add up.

markspeed, the R2 version might not be the one with the lotus engine. It hits 190. The R3 probably doesn't go so fast. idk I don't use the R3 version.
Forza 3 models drag correctly. Maybe not 100% realistic, but if you crank up the wing you clearly go slower.

Oh it's definitely possible. You just need to know what shapes to use, how to spin, skew and stretch them.
I would have a go at this and show you but I've got 2 liveries on the go at the moment for a couple of other people so I'm kinda stuck for spare time.
IF you can find some better side shots of the car then I may consider having a go when I've finished the two cars I'm working on at the moment (which I've not done any work on for 2 weeks...)

the reason they only use shapes is so the data can be transmitted quickly for when you are playing online (It's already pretty impressive IMO considering how many trillions of trillions of designs there could be). If you put the ability to make your own shapes in there it would make this so much harder.

Ok, but that's not telling me much, cause that's the case with Gran Turismo 3. So what you're saying is that Forza is no more adavanced than a 9 year old simcade? All of a sudden it doesn't sound so impressive does it? ;-)

Do it all on the right side, then go to the left side, press A and select "insert all from right side". ;)
BTW I've done my attempt at it, it's only taken me 90 minutes, give or take a few. I'll upload some pics later, having some web issues (like T-Mobile capping me so I can't use XBL between 16:00 and 00:00, unlimited broadband my ass!)
On a side note, I've just been driving the Mugen Civic 2010 that I've bought, and I noticed a nice, but pointless, but nice, touch that T10 have done, the clock on the dashboard displays whatever time your 360 thinks it is.

Yeah it's t-mobile's "fair usage policy", if you exceed their "fair usage" limit, I.e. cap, on downloaded data, they throttle your connection so you can't download stuff and they block services such as XBL/Steam etc., either by way of actual blocking methods or just simply because the services cannot do what they need in terms of up/down-loads due to the throttling on the connection.
Problem is the app t-crap provide doesn't accurately record your usage and on a number of occasions, such as this, I've apparently gone over the limit, when I know full well I haven't. I suspect they do it on purpose to alleviate network congestion due to over-subscription of their network.
Hence the reason I'm trying to get a fixed home line broadband package sorted...
Anyhoo the pics will have to wait until Saturday now.
As for the "insert all" method, try it without the numbers and see what happens with just basic shapes. ;)

Next DLC pack will have ten new cars from ten new manufacturers, so far 2 have been revealed: Gumpert Apollo and Mosler MT900 S. IGN are revealing 2 a day here: http://uk.xboxlive.ign.com/articles/108/1087450p1.html it is going to be released next tuesday. I can tell already I will be buying this one.
2010 SSC Ultimate Aero and 2010 Joss JT1 confirmed as well.
I'm hoping for Spyker..
The new spyshots are also known what cars they're.
Recently started playing this game again as i found a way to get cash quickly and easily. Set up a private match on Benchmark Layout A with 7 AI drivers, make it as hard as possible with the difficulty and driver aids off, set it to 50 laps and R1 class only.
Now when you start don't follow the track just go as closely to the inside barrier as you can, avoiding the bollards and tyres.
50 laps takes about 16mins and you get 90K credits for doing it plus a shed load of XP. I prefer to run 20-30 lap races as it doesn't get so boring and there is less chance of getting disconnected with 3 laps to go!!
We got your monies!!!!!
Also I just bought the VIP car pack as I felt like throwing some money off a bridge but didn't have a bridge in walking distance. Got gifted a load of cars, mostly shit, sold a lot of them and I now have 1,250,000CR!!!!
Which won't last me very long........
What I don't get is some of the cars I was gifted I could sell back to the game for a decent amount of CR. Say the Top Secret Supra which I sold for 150,000 back to the game. Yet the Acura R1 class racer I can only sell it back for 100CR.....what is up with that???:?: Are Turn 10 totally retarded or what??

I guess it's laziness, but the very valuable cars (>1mil) they set the sale value to 100cr. The cheaper cars they don't seem to care about.
Also I was just wondering what the hell happened to the car pack with all the old beasts in??
they announced the car list a while ago:
- 1986 Dodge Shelby Omni GLHS
- 1988 Mitsubishi Starion ESI-R
- 1992 GMC Syclone
- 1971 AMC Javelin AMX
- 1984 BMW M635CSi
- 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II
- 1977 Saab 99 Turbo
- 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500
- 1971 De Tomaso Pantera
- 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo
- 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale
- 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth
- 1982 DeLorean DMC-12
- 1983 Volvo 242 Group A
....that one??
I want the Mitsibushi Starion and I'm willing to pay cash!!!!!

Has anyone else found that the Risi Competition Ferrari grips like Happy Gilmour on ice? I don't know what's wrong with the car, but a 550 horsepower mid-engine modern racecar like the Ferrari, as sorted as it is would have more grip. I mean I've got road cars that have more grip on the cobblestones of amalfi on stock tires than the Ferrari does on race tires at a road track like Sedona. It can't break with stability, it can turn in, or turn out. And it snaps from evil oversteer to snowplow understeer faster than it can shift from second to third gear.
Meanwhile, the Viper ACR sticks like Schumachers 2004 Ferrari. What gives? Balance issues? Or did the Forza guys just not get the physics sorted on this car?

most R class cars need a really gentle/smooth approach for putting down power in the first 2 or 3 gears. the c6.rs are really bad, specially with cold tires. i do everything i can to not use 1st gear in r1.
the only exceptions i can think of off hand is the fxx and the r8 lms with awd swap.

It's not the physics per se, just the stock tunes are crap on most of the race spec cars. I found the Ford GTR undrivable until I downloaded a tune for it.
My tip would be, if you haven't already, download the most downloaded (or highest rated) tune for the Risi F430.
Oh and just as an aside, did Turn 10 make Sedona the most difficult track ever known to man on purpose? It doesn't matter what car I'm in, they just don't drive as well as they do on other tracks, they have bags of understeer and the brakes lock so the car just goes off in a straight line (and that's with decent tunes that work great on all other tracks)!

I just tried the ACR and the 430 out back to back at Laguna Seca, after 2 laps I was a second and a half off the fastest lap in last year's race in the 430, (I did a 1:25, fastest lap in the race was a 1:23.9) given some more setup time I could probably get closer. With the ACR I did a horrible lap with a standing start and beat the lap time listed on Wikipedia (I did a 1:33, Wikipedia says the 2008 ACR should do 1:35) so if you can take anything it's that the ACR isn't a realistic representation of real life.
I found the 430 gripped just fine if you didn't turn in violently under braking. In acceleration zones it gripped beautifully. I'm confident that if you were to use a steering wheel and drive smoother then it wouldn't slide so much. The ACR however is glued to the road, I guess it's more forgiveable to drive because it's a road car, with stiffer springs you would probably go faster but you couldn't drive it as easily.
I found adding some more rear camber and rear downforce helped out the Ferrari.
You shouldn't compare Forza to a pc simulation. It's obviously not on the same level in terms of realism. You should enjoy what's good about Forza, and I don't think that the physics is on that list.

Indeed I am enjoying Forza. Just not the faster cars. The faster the cars get the more the grip feels less like grip. I've tried that Ferrari at three tracks, and one of the C6 Vettes at five tracks. And short of trying some of the things you suggest these cars just don't grip like they should. It's just disappointing it all. I can't even roll the power on without wheelspin, and that's just not right. But, like you said this isn't GTR2. Which is ironic, that the Sim cars in GTR2 have more grip than than the same car in the Simcade. I guess they wanted to take a truly different direction than Gran Turismo.

They released the exotic car pack yesterday, pretty damned epic. The mosler, apollo, aero and radical all rape, especially the radical. Stock the aero has over 1200HP but I could only manage to get it up to 256mph, which is right around the same speed my 960HP or so vette can go.
i love the radical its so pro R2900 its sooooo good

260mph is the best I managed with my Koieneggsegggg CCGT @ about 950bhp. My mission is to top 300mph...........anyone done it???
Is the Mulsanne even long enough??

This game needs the chicaneless mulsanne like GT4 had. So you can really hit it at top speed.

It does have it.
Indeed it does have the chicaneless Mulsanne but what it really needs is the GT4 Test Track.

There is the benchmark high speed ring for people who bought the game new, but I don't think you can take it all flat out at about 250 mph.
Benchmarkring is no good. The corners are too sharp/not banked enough to test top speed. Mulsanne is the best option in the game.

Isn't the Mulsanne slightly up hill? Next time you try it go backwards down it.
Yah I got my supra the go 262mph up the hill so I will try down plus that bloody SSC Areo thing dose 257mph stock I need it lol
Ah backwards and down the ever so slight incline!!! That should work.:-D
I wish there'd be a drag strip of 10km long
I've been using the green hell straight to get a top speed run in. It's more than long enough.

Im looking for 300mph+ guy!!
I think I achieved 300mph or just below in GT4 but you had the luxury of NOS to help you along......
I don't think it's possible to get up to 300mph. Me and someone on XBL had those P1 cars with rotary engines in them, maxed out, and we we're drafting and we still couldn't touch 300.

Maybe there isn't a long enough straight. Cause if the old Honda team could get their low drag grid spec meeting F1 to do 260, than one or two of these streamlined butterflies should be able to crack 300. If GT3's no NOS Suzuki Escudo can do it, than a hopped up Mac F1 should be able to also, atleast in these simcades that is.;-)
P.S. Roush9, BTW I have seen your ipod. There's this guy in the next chat room to the left, his ipad swallowed it! :o
Forza3 isn't real life, derp. In theory, the aero should be able to get near 300mph. I don't even think the bugatti can get near 300.

The GT4 test course wasnt big enough. you need a course that is shaped like the gT test course, but the straights are 20KM long, banked at 45 degrees, with end corners that are 10km long and banked at 60 degrees. and for aesthetics it should be textured in concrete instead of tarmac. high banked courses look better in concrete that they do in tarmac. they just do .

concrete gives you worse traction, and also isn't as smooth. When you are putting down hundreds of horsepower you want the smoothest surface possible.
Also, why would the straights need to be banked? It would just mean you would have to pay attention to where your car was heading even on the straight, which is something you don't want to do. Flat straights would be better.

If i was makign my own racign game, i would have a track like i described, even as yuo pint out its flaws, i look at them as adding to the challenge of drivign on it. it wouldlnt be a borign oval, it would command the drivers undevided attention at all times. and i just think hauling bloody tits on a 45 deg. banked strait with the wouderful concrete sruface shimmerng in the sun with full bloom on, and a slightly blured horizon just plain awesome.

but a 60km oval? Seriously? Even at 450km/h that's 8 minutes a lap.
ALEXZANDER
12 May 10, 21:44
i dotn mind a long lap, also, the track would be wide enough to run 10 cars wide. once you get a 800 car grid going it would seem a bit smaller. the whole idea of the track is it is so massive you can hit really high speeds, and it would be a spectacle to run 800 car grids, it would be really fun.
Banked straights?? Are you shitting me?:laugh:
markspeed
13 May 10, 00:52
You'd sacrifice a significant amount of speed on straights having to compensate for the banking. Going straight you would not have any help from centrifugal force. Cars would also need some degree of downforce on that kind of track. If it were more conventional you would only need zero life designs.

Ok ok, i give in, if it means moar speed, no banking on straights.

I think the main problem with your idea is that cars like the Bugatti Veyron can only go flat out for about 10 minutes. For your car do more than 2 laps at a time you would need a huge fuel tank, and extremely strong tyres. Unless you used a slower car, but then what's the point in a 60 km oval?

God knows. I don't think even Alexander has considered the ridiculousness of it.
Now unless my maths is faulty (which it possibly is because I'm tired) even at a constant speed of 300kph it would still take you 12 minutes to complete just 1 lap!
That's 12 minutes of sheer boredom!

especially if your loosing.....................
i got bored of the 5mins lap on gt4...that massive long oval...... so 3 times that in a rev reached sound for 15mins isnt gonna be fun.....
not got forza myself or a 360 but christ what the hell were they thinking with a 60km oval, and like Mr.Kid rightly says the oval in gt4 was long enough so think how boring that is going to be, I mean what sort of driver is going to want to do that, even in a bloomin Veyron that is going to take minutes to drive and think of the pitstops needed, could they make it round? full throttle for 12 mins is a heck of a time and the fuel is going to be gone!
rant over
ravenmorpheus2k
13 May 10, 19:17
Yeah to be fair my maths is slightly fault because 300kph is only 186ish mph.
And this 60k oval isn't actually in the game, it's just a fantasy Alexander has...
I also missed Zuds post which has it spot on - 8 minute laps, be it in kmh or mph.

I just want a track that is awe inspiringly massive. thats all. a few of you have raised good points about its flaws, like the fact that running flatout sucks fuel. well there would be a pit lane on both sides of the track, so that would elimanate the possible of runnign dry mid lap. there would be alot of stratigy in runnign this course, in the areas of fuel and tyres. because the track is so big, and cars runnign fast, stoppign to pit could cost you alot of time and positions especally in races with 800-1000 car grids. the stragity and plannign would make or break your chances at placing well in the finish. the strategy would be alot of fun.
as for the issue of a boring lap. well if your runnign a 800-1000 car grid, chances are that there is always someone trying to pass you, defending you position from them would keep you occupied.
i know it all sounds ridiculous and over the top, but i think it would fun and entertaining, and that is what games are for. :)
I even came up with a name for my track.
Drehzahlregelung Rennstrecke or "speed loop race course"
...and the fuel is going to be gone!
no fuel in forza 3:wink:
no fuel in forza 3:wink:
yeah there is.
Lets just be thankful that we will never ever see a track like the one Alexzander describes in any game or sim ever. We will never see 800 car grids. We will never see banked straights. We will never see dual pits lane for refuelling every lap.
Oh and I though of another name for the "track".
Retardedmorondumbass Streke.

The worst was the Vitz race. 10 laps of 6.5 mile track at about what 140 miles an hour at best. I forget what the top speed was on that car but slow comes to mind. I actually started to fall asleep during the third lap. The developers at Polyphony really annoyed me often with the GT series. The overused so many tracks, than underused so many others. Forza has this problem too a bit. Some of these tracks just aren't used enough.
But what I do like are the Rally like tracks which are broken into stages. They could do well with much more of these for the next game. And make half of them dirt/gravel tracks.

I achieved driver level 50 yesterday. Got my Total Team Peugeot 908. And I've got to say, visibility is quite bad out of this car. It's pretty difficult in several cars in this game because of how close the focal point is to the windshield. But in the 908 it's particularly bad. I lost sight of the apex and more going into every just about every turn at Catalunya. Not good. Hope they change this for Forza 4. I doubt a firmware update can fix this sort of problem. It would need a new disc.

I just got the new DLC, it's got that 1200+HP car that is supposed to be quicker than the Veryon.
Can't say I'm all that impressed with the selection of cars, the Spyker looks butt ugly (although as a VIP I got one gifted), there's a Viper "in drag" and other cars I've never seen or want to drive, the radical might be worth a look at though, if it's competitive in R2...

the 908 and the mazda are bad, i prefer the R10, as it is open cockpit.

More good balancing from T10 then, does it destroy the Mazda Lola LMP as well?
I noticed something odd on the storefronts today...
...I was searching for Acura NSX '05 tunes and paints and I noticed there is an Acura NSX '05+ that only starts at R3 class, but looking in the car showrooms I cannot see such a car for Acura.
It's also listed on the AH.
I wonder if an upcoming DLC has another Acura NSX in it?

The SR8 is a beast of a machine. Acceleration and downforce is where it destroys the rest of the R2 class, on tracks that have long straights the top 2-3 can hang. In one race, can't remember the track, it actually took me 4(7lap race) laps to pass the top 3.

I just drove it at Road America in the R2 world championship and you're right, it destroys the rest of the R2 class.
It does seem to have weak suspension though, I was driving across some of the kerbs at Road America and the suspension damage indicators (all four of them) went yellow during the course of the 9 laps of the race, thus leading to some sudden oversteer issues here and there. :?:
Needs to be treated carefully as it's it a bit fragile but will destroy any R2 car is my verdict (haven't tried it against the R2 version of the Mazda Lola LMP yet though).
I'm still wondering what the Acura NSX '05+ is? It's bugging me...
well i just sold my peugeot le mans car i got gifted..... put it up for auction buyout at 339,000....(was meant to be 340), got sold within 10 seconds of putting up...having looked before, people were asking 400 for it....so thought might aswell....got myself 2 lovely cars to keep me happy.... the audi rs6 touring(whiteish one) and a lamborghini diablo........ audi drives well.....suits me perefect... :)
