Well they are kinda expensive to buy. So I guess that explains that. I've got a pretty cool skin I made for the 92 Silvia K's which looks a lot like it's Gran Turismo 1 Race Mod warpaint. Perhaps I should put it on the auction block. It sure took me long enough to figure out how to do it.

Also they can sometimes manage to stay in a gap of less than 5 seconds behind you, even when their best lap time is 2 seconds slower than your best. And if you're anywhere near as consistent a driver as I am, that means your two seconds faster every lap, not just the best. And in a race of 5 or 7 laps, that's an ending gap of atleast 10-14 seconds, if they are robotically consistent like I am. Yet they can maintain tight gaps, even when the car they are in shouldn't be able to. It's bungie cord A.I. physics. They start falling behind in more realistic chunks of time after you break the 5 second bungie cord. If you're not able to break it they'll stay there till the end.

Why is it that the one car(Pontiac GTO/Monaro)that I can put custom Rhys Millen bodykit bits on, I apparantly can't put the Rhys Millen stickers on? :?:

I know this might sound just a bit trivial. But the I've seen the stickers available for several other cars, all of which do not have any Rhys Millen parts. Tell me this isn't a government operation! :thumbdown:

you can go onto the cars that have it and make a vinyl group with it in a use that but otherwise i dont no why like some cars have Castrol and others dont but the most cars that dont should lol it strange

Yeah i noticed that with the stickers. When i was painting my 355 when i first got the game i had stickers that i didnt have when i was paintting other cars later on. I never understood why they would make it like that.

If I recall correctly you cannot make a vinyl group that contains manufacturer logos.

Therefore you cannot put manufacturer logos onto a car where they are not already available, unless you make them by hand yourself.

Yeah I figured that out afterward. But thanks though. Quite a pity. And considering how long it took me to to make an American flag using the vinyl group settings, I don't think I'll be bothering to make my own stickers anytime soon. Perhaps they'll make a firmware update to change that. Or I'll just do without.

It's been like that since FM2 (possibly even FM1, I never played that), so it's unlikely an update will be appearing to allow it. It's probably down to copyright issues...

There are plenty of people who do make the majority of the manufacturer decals though, just search the Storefronts. ;)

Perhaps... but that would circumvent me from learning to do it myself. And since I'm already getting hooked in the mouth by the paint skinning angler, I might as well figure em out on my own. Yesterday I did a pretty darn good copy of the Shell Helix decal on the TVR T400R Synergy Motorsports. I also did a pretty good interpretation of the Synergy logo itself. However, my Union Jack interpretation is proportionally off. I don't think my British friends would be completely satisfied with it. Practice, practice, practice.

If you find it helps you can DL people's vinyl groups and then paint over them in the create a vinyl group mode. Most common stuff is up there for free.

Just don't sell them. I find that to be rather dishonest, after all the original creator (assuming he/she was in the first place) did all the hard work. ;)

Just because it's not as realistic as PC sims doesn't mean it's arcadey. I enjoy the handling in this game, it feels realistic enough to pay attention to your setup and get realistic feedback, but not deep enough that you can't just drop in every now and then and do a few races casually.

I agree the handling is quite nice and it can be enjoyable to drive at times but the behaviour of the car beyond the limit of grip is crapola. Obviously the game has been made drift friendly but it is just way too easy to regain control of or continue a slide after you lose grip.

It is arcadey regardless of how sim like you think it may be.

On the arcadey-ness of the game. I'd rather play this over Race Pro, it looks better, and the online community is better.

But if you compare it to a SimBin PC sim or any other PC racing sim it is quite arcade like, but again better looking. For me it's a good half way house, sitting between arcade trash and sim.

Well for me, arcadey or not the wheels respond too quickly to steering input. While it's probably more precise on a wheel the thumb stick to wheels response is far to quick. Relaxing pressure on the thumbstick coming out of a corner seems to result in going off track far too often. Relaxing pressure on the thumbstick has the wheels turning fully straight almost instantly. Which is far too quickly. Wheels on a car don't recover as fast as that. So It would seem there is some sort of nanny help that not only can't be turned off, but also can be a detriment as well.

I'd rather have responsive controls than latency. I guess that's just a downside of using a joypad. If you look at the telemetry, the steering doesn't snap violently, there is some smoothing.

On the telemetry sure. But there seems to be a bit of a gap between that and the cars responses. While I agree a responsive car is always better. This is just a particular area where the car is too responsive. Under load a cars tires don't straighten out quite as fast as they do with some cars. It's just one of those things I have to learn to get used too.

Has anyone else noticed that the Chevy Monte Carlo Nascar has as much or more downforce as the GT2 Porsches' and Ferrari's? I know they've made some dazzling improvements to Nascars over the years. But I didn't know they'd figured out how to generate so much DF. Perhaps their splitter/diffusers are as good as in other forms of motorsport. However, what's really suprising is the Nascar would allow the cars to get so sophisticated.

Either that, or the Turn 10 people have exaggerated just a bit.

It'd be nice if they introduced some more events (using the new DLC cars) and some new tracks for single player, so far the only event they've added is the Hyundai Genesis one and the tracks they've released are not used in the events/season mode, it'd be nice if the ring GP track was used once in a while.

Imo the game desperately needs more tracks for season/event mode.

As for freejrs point I think what he's getting at is that T10 keep releasing DLC packs with what the manufacturers want in the game, not what the people playing the game want.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we've only seen 1 DLC pack so far that has been voted for by the people who play the game, the rest have been full of new cars pushed on us by the manufacturers. And they're almost all road cars, not race cars. Don't know about anyone else but I'm not a sheik who collects cars, I'm a guy who wants to "virtually" race proper race/sports cars.

Except for one of the packs, there has always been a decent supercar or trackday car. Then there was that exotic car pack, which I still need to buy.

I moved my TV and have been using it for a monitor for a couple of weeks, it has killed my console gaming as my 360 is now on the same screen as my PC. I think I'm going to put my old screen back. It's not any better or worse, but my TV monitor is a 21" LCD, my old monitor was a 19" TFT and is huge.

However there is a race car (although it's in S class, read GT3/GT4) - the Proton (er I mean Lotus) Evora 124.

Not a bad car, and people have tunes for it already (some people clearly have no lives or they're lazy unemployed bums/students with nothing better to do :lol: ).

Probably the best car in the DLC though. Shame about the rest of the advertising filler I had to buy/download as well to get it though...

Does anybody know a really good lower cost car that can be built up to R1 class competitiveness? I'm running out of R1 cars that have Reputation Level Freedom for upgrade discounts.

I'd like to keep the upgrade discounts rolling along, but all my R1 cars are pretty much filled up now. And I've still got several R1 series championships, and races left to do. I'm wondering if cars like the Ferrari F50 GT can be made R1 competitive.


I have to say I'm a bit disappointed at how the class structure works in this game. If a car is in the same alphabetic class as the A.I. you should be able to run it, no matter how comparetively slow it might be. Considering how slow the A.I. are, even when they are being slowcar boosted out in front of you to block, and check brake, and deliberately crash into you, I just don't get why the digital nanny won't let you underdog your car. They'll let you overdog your car beyond the ridiculous. And yet they won't let you underdog you car an inch. And then they'll make the A.I. drive stupidly slow, even on Hard level, and then in the worst case of unrealism they'll give the A.I. a slowcar boost so ridiculously obvious that it's embarrassing. Atleast Gran Turismo had wisdom to either cleverly hide the A.I. boost, or to just not bother with a challenge level high enough for the upper 20 to 10 percentile of gamers. It's the age old adage of "anything worth doing is worth doing right".


Forza's A.I. is something a commitee would come up with. Lots of overdog ability to and nanny's to help out the slower more casual gamers. And an A.I. dumb enough, and slow enough to help that out. But then the worst kind of unrealistic slowcar boosting the manufacture a wannabe challenge for the upper percentile that falls flat on it's face the second it rears it's ugly mug. And since Forza includes online play, why did they bother with A.I. challenge at all. It's never gonna be a worthy challenge for the best players, unless it's the best other players providing it. A computer just can't be programed to provide it.

I was bored so i plugged in forza again, since i had deleted my forza save wien i changed my gamertag awhile back, i had to start from the beginning. however this time, i turned all the assists off for added challenge, the game is so much more fun now, i dotn know why i didnt do this before, the lotus exeige, tat is fun, brake slightly, turn in, clip the apex, give it a bootfull on the exit, enjoy a nice little drift, repeat. and you earn more points and credits with the settigns turned off. I now have renewed enjoyment for this game, it is nolonger just monotonous driving with no challenge, it is now fun. the care are actually easyer to drive, with you turn on TSC, ans stability, the cars tend to understeer as the computer contorls wheelsipn and redictrubutes power, but with them off, the understeer is less and what understeer you get can be can be canceled with a little throttle to bring the rear end around. i also turn ABS off, fro added challenge, at first it was frustrating, but now it feels weird not threshold braking. just squeezing the left trigger and slowing down is borign, but having to modulate pressure on the trigger to prevent lockup is fun.

I bought them as an investment, athough i will be keeping one. I noticed that they are all originally owned by T10, so they were vip gift cars i guess. right now the market is flooded with them becasue peopel who were given one didnt want it are selling them cheap. eventually there will be less on the market like there used to be because all the people who got one from T10 will have auctioned them or decided to keep them, and many ones that were auctioned will be keep by people who wanted one, and scored a cheap one. so the amount of them on the market will decrease, and the average price will go back up. so in the future i should have no problem re auctioning them and getting a return on my investment. I have put a few on them on the market right now, to see if i can move one or two so i can get some more money to ( i used all my money buyign them) to buy a couple more.

What im doing is buying low, with the goal of sellign higher. Im takign an advantage of a surplus of cheap really expensive cars. i predict that the P4 surplus will end sometime i the future, meaning the average prices would go back up. abotu 8 months ago, i never saw oen go for less than 1.5M. I am took a risk in buyign up these P4's. Im betting that the average Market price in which people will pay for these cars will go back to where it was before the surplus.

About sellign a few to buy more. I want to acquire more so if the prices do go back up, as i am bettign they will, i have more to sell. If it does, i will make huge returns on this investment, if it dosent, and the cars stay cheap forever, i still have a garage full of cool cars i can paint, and race that i got for a fraction of their buy new price. So i won eater way.

I am goign to keep close watch on the P4 market, to see where it is going. Hopefully i can make some forza money here.

Can anyone help me with the dark dog Saleen S7R and it's snap over steer, I only use auto transmission and no other aids so this car is a nightmare in fast flowing long corners. If I so much as think about steering a bit more into the corner the rear just suddenly snaps out. If i remember rightly this is what the same car did in the original game...are turn 10 for real? I've initially tried bunging more rear wing on which has helped a bit but not by much, I'm peeved that I'm probably going to have to dial in a load of understeer just to make the damn car driveable.

The GT1's in Forza are pretty crazy to drive, try softening the springs and anti-roll bars - particularly making the fronts harder than the rear, be warned though, you might have to fine tune it a lot as this will bring more understeer in - should help with oversteer though!
Also, be sure it isn't power oversteer! :p

Thanks for the reply :) It defo isn't power oversteer as I'm feathering the throttle when it happens, it's not lift off overteer as I'm not completely lifting off either. I got some good advice from a Forza forum about the ride height being too low, I'll look at that. I did make the car more manageable by doing what you say, but I find it stupid that the cars require this amount of setup tweaking to make them drivable.

ive found that most race cars just have too harsh of a power delivery in the first two gears to use them. in some cars, like the c6.r, i try not to use 2nd gear as well.

I don't know how anyone can complain about the MASSIVE choice of cars in this game. Plus some incredibly detailed models make this a terrific game/sim for the console. At last count there were over 450 (maybe more IDK) cars in this game. Some great vintage stuff and some terrific new vehicles. After reading the review in AutoSimSport I bought a Xbox basically to play this game. Simply awesome IMO.

Yeah there maybe 450 cars in the game but just how many does anyone actually drive/race?

And compared to the cars purely there for advertising the number of race cars or cars that people do actually race in real life are quite few in number.

The problem is though the packs always have about 2 decent cars and then the rest is just pure crap pushed on us by the manufacturers.

Turn 10 seem to have signed a deal with the manufacturers that means they have to keep releasing DLC with new/upcoming cars, just to keep the manufacturer licences, and those DLC packs/cars are outweighing the ones people really want at the moment.

Anyway I was feeling like throwing some money over a bridge but couldn't be bothered to go to the river so I bought the new DLC pack yesterday. I only wanted the Mclaren really but I have been pleasantly surprised with the Fiat Punto Sport.:thumbup:

Turned it into a RWD Hillclimb special and it is great fun to drive. Shame there is no 4WD option.....:-(

I bought the MP14-12C or whatever it's called and it is a weapon!! Faster than the Ferrrari 458 by a fair bit I would say. The only thing is that 7th gear is totally useless......you hit top speed in 6th easily rendering 7th pointless.

Does anyone know if it is like this in the real car?? So 7th is just a fuel saving gear and not really used??

The ratios are adjustable but I just thought it was weird that 7th is so long by default.:?:

How do I paint a cars mirrors and wings which cannot be painted and how do I paint each mirror a different colour??:?:

With the Porka 997GT3 RS it has nasty orange mirrors/wing which I cant paint over yet Iv downloaded designs which other people have made and they have painted them!!

If I paint the car body the mirrors stay the same colour that they were when I bought it......orange.

It's the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) in white. But which ever colour the car is it still has the unpaintable orange mirrors and end plates on the wing.

The only thing I can think of is that the skins he's seen are glitched, i.e. someone has found a way of doing it via a glitch.

Or the skins are created on another car, saved as vinyl groups and then applied to the car.

Yeah that's my mistake I guess. I bought the white one with the horrid orange mirrors thinking I woul be able to paint them but I should have bought the one with black mirrors and painted the car white.

Now I cant change it back!!!!:angry:

Anyone else peeved by the leaderboards....I only use auto gears no other aids, yet people with full aids are classed above me. I know they went quicker, but ONLY because of the aids, I'd be a hell of a lot faster with the aids but I feel it's cheating. Also.....why doesn't having the racing line on have a penalty for the leaderboards? I hardly ever use it but can shave considerable time off a lap by using it. The single player mode penalises you for using these aids by earning less money..why doesn't the leaderboards do the same thing. The racing line is a PURE cheat IMO.

when i sold my first one i set the price at 455,000, when it was down to about 2 minutes, the bids started coming in, it wen from 455K to 1.8M in the time it took me to go to the bathroom. then it went to 2.6M and sold. but the ones where the bid is under 100K will get some biding action when the auction nears its end. people get in a bidding war. and the price goes way up on these cars.

Apart from the NASCAR (but ive got a modded NR2003 anyway), I wont be missing out because i dont like gran turismo, not only can you actually paint the cars, but i think forza is more fun for a casual console gamer like me and with F1, WRC, DiRT 3, TDU 2 and GTR 3 all on their way and Forza 3 already out, even if i did have GT5, it would only be gathering dust in a corner.

Both consoles have their own pro's and cons. I got nearly all accesoiries for the X360 yet it doesn't feel that complete. Than there's the fact you got a nice Blu-ray player in the PS3, which is also good for games. On X360 several games are multi disc. On PS3 you got enough with one Blu-ray.

in terms of graphics the X360 is better, the X360 controller is better. But the X360 makes much more noise and is less reliable.

I have buddies who have PS3's, I have a PS2 (knocking around somewhere), I had a PS1 (both editions) and I own a PSP, my Bluetooth headphones are also made by Sony. So if anything you'd call me a Sony fanboy.

I am laughing because GT5 will turn out to be just the same as FM3, an advertising medium for the car companies, masquerading as a racing game. Albeit with better graphics and arguably better physics. Although from what I've read and heard the PSN is nowhere near on a par with XBL so online won't be much fun, unlike FM3.

The new 360 Slim is actually as quiet as the PS3, if not slightly quieter, I know I own one and I took it round my mates house and compared it to his PS3. Even the Elite wasn't that loud, the only particularly loud ones were the early arcade ones. And the PS3 has had it's reliability issues, just the same as the 360 has.

The only thing wrong with the PS3 is the price of the console and the fact that the games cost £10 on average more than Xbox 360 games (well that and PSN isn't as good as XBL).

Oh and the games that are multi disc on the 360 - not a problem, 1 disc gets installed to the 250GB HDD, then you install the 2nd disc to the HDD, and play the game from the HDD, the same as you can on the PS3. And like the PS3 you can also use USB drives, plug in any old HDD you've filled up with MP3's or videos and you can play them straight off the drive, and you can use "up to 16GB" USB sticks to store your game saves on, which makes it handy when you go round your mates house and they have a 360 and the same games as you.

So the 360 is no better or worse than the PS3, unless you take into account the price and the catalogue of games. ;)

Look, both systems are good at what they do, they both have great exclusive titles, etc, etc.

As a fan of blu ray movies, I can say the cost of a PS3 is justified. I've had my fat 60gb 3 years now, and close on 70 PS3 games, which i'd say 85-90% of my game collection consists of used games as I am a bit of a bargain hunter.

I bought the PS3 back in 2007 as a blu ray player first, and a gaming system 2nd, and it serves that perfectly, esp if you invest in blu ray movies.

There are some great exclusive ps3 titles, MGS4, etc.

My biggest complaint about some of the older games, having to install the game on to the HDD before playing, with a 60gb hard drive, memory management becomes something you have to take in to account.

Thankfully, a 500GB laptop Hard drive for less than $50 shipped, solves that problem rather easy.

Now, lets get back on topic of Forza 3.

Well 4 times for a whole game doesn't even come close to the cost of a PS3 here in the UK, and then there's the £40-50 that GT5 will cost, so that'd be very close to £300, for 1 game if you don't already have a PS3!

I am laughing because GT5 will turn out to be just the same as FM3, an advertising medium for the car companies, masquerading as a racing game. Albeit with better graphics and arguably better physics. Although from what I've read and heard the PSN is nowhere near on a par with XBL so online won't be much fun, unlike FM3.

The new 360 Slim is actually as quiet as the PS3, if not slightly quieter, I know I own one and I took it round my mates house and compared it to his PS3. Even the Elite wasn't that loud, the only particularly loud ones were the early arcade ones. And the PS3 has had it's reliability issues, just the same as the 360 has.

The PS3 doesn't have so many problems, mostly it's dust that was gathered and made the console too hot or a broken Blu-Ray drive.
While the X360 gets too hot that in the end leads to a RROD. (the pre-Jasper versions). My X360 Jasper DVD-drive ain't so quiet btw. The X360 HDDVD-player is quieter.. of course you install all games on the HDD, but it's just a fact..
The only thing wrong with the PS3 is the price of the console and the fact that the games cost £10 on average more than Xbox 360 games (well that and PSN isn't as good as XBL).

Mine didn't have that problem. And the difference between a 250GB PS3 and 250GB X360 is €50, most probably due to the Bluray drive. How shocking...

Hmm let me see, statistics, paid for by various people in the industry, manipulated to give the picture certain people want.

There how is that for a reason why the statistics say otherwise. I had an Arcade, I know people who had Elites, and the Arcade WAS the loudest, and the Elite wasn't much louder than a PS3. And from the people I've spoken to that has always been the case (and I've conversed with a lot of people about this via the web).

Perhaps they got the good Elites...

There have been other problems, yellow light of death for example, which is very akin to the RROD. So like I said PS3 has had it's fair share of problems.

The whole PS3 vs 360 argument was settled for me when I wanted a new console in 2006. The 360 had some outstanding games and many more in the works, and the PS3 wasn't out yet and had one game that I wanted to play. Unfortunately nearly 4 years later I still wouldn't have been able to play it so I think I made the right choice.

As for Forza vs GT5, if GT5 doesn't blow it out of the water then something has gone seriously wrong. If they can't make a better game after spending that much time and money on it then they should find a new job. In the time it has taken to make this game turn 10 have released 3 games. GT5 is just a loss leader to sell PS3's.

Nothing can defeat the fact I have clocked up hundred's of hours in Forza 2 and 3 and enjoyed all of them, they are brilliant games and I look forward to whatever comes next.

It's not always A class online, but when you choose your class when joining a public game you can see how many people are racing in each class and the majority always seem to be racing A class.

simply put, they are very limited because the only way to get one is be gifted one by a T10 member. Most of them are probably won in the official T10 comps. They usually dominate whatever their class is too.

Forgive me for asking all this time after FM 3s release but anyone know how to get photos I've created out of the game so I can upload here? I did a search on the Forza forums and wasn't sure if I'd found anything relevant to what I was asking. If theres a quick, simple tutorial available then can someone point me in that direction please?
