i can't seem to figure this out and i'm hoping someone here can help shed some light on my problem. after installing NFS Shift ... i go to options/controls and try to adjust the controls. at first ... i choose G25 combined pedals... and once i go to the test lap and it starts ... the car automatically steers to the right and stays right by itself. plus my pedals are not working.

ok ... so i exit ... go to options again ... and this time ... i choose G25 seperate pedals. but same thing ... once the test lap starts ... it jerks to the right and stays there. but at least this time ... my pedals are working. i have to turn the wheel all the way to the left (full 900 degrees) just to make it turn left. and it doesn't even gradually turn left ... it flashes from right to left. no turning motion.

for some strange reason ... the wheel is stuck on turning right cause when i try and do custom wheel settings.... i can't set the wheel. as soon as i try and make any custom settings ... it keeps selecting "right" and it gets stuck on preset 28 and i can't get out of it.

i exit and load up my profiler ... and when i turn the wheel ... it doesn't move in the profiler. when i step on the gas and brakes ... it works ... but i don't hear anything sound like before. i don't know if its cuz i reinstalled a newer version of the profiler???

so yea.... for some stupid reason ... i'm having major issues setting up the wheel for this game. i have the PS3 version ... but i don't like it as much as the PC version. i don't know if iRacing has anything to do with this problem.

hope someone can help me out here ... i really would like to play this game on PC as it looks pretty good. why does it keep turning right???? *cry*!!!

This game can NOT be played with 900° or 720° steering wheel, since they use lock-to-lock reference & not center-to-lock reference

if you use 28° steering lock in nfs shift, its like using 14° steering lock in gtr evo.

so the problem is:

alot of cars in this game are limited to +- 40° steering lock (= +- 20° steering lock in gtr evo)

its why steering wheel feel so mutch woobling.

So there is 3 solutions:

_Dont play above 540° steering wheel (n) :/
_Hack the .plr file of the car & be kicked like a cheater online. (if its possible to edit this???) (n) :/
_Dream about a patch where dev edits each cars to put the steering lock limit above 70°

or be disapointed like me, if you dont trust at least in 1 solution above.

i found a link for a download in another thread that resets your wheel calibration settings and that seem to fix the problem. but now that everything is working ... i'm noticing that the response time in the steering is quite poor. actually ... its more the sensitivity rather than the response time. i seem to have to crank the wheel a lot just to get it to turn a little. even when i turn up the sensitivity to 75%.

Actually it plays just fine with 900 degrees, you just need to have the appropriate wheel xml file. The whole range can be used, sensitivity is set at 50%, speed sensitivity 0%.

It seems that the in-game wheel is not correctly mimicking the actual rotation. It's a little disorientating, but I drive usually from the bonnet view so it doesn't bother me other than in replays. I suspect that the in-game wheel response can be tweaked, I just don't have the knowhow.

The steering wheel onboard, like a lot of games, can NOT reproduce a man turning a 900°steering wheel,

its animation based.

When you can see a accurate 900° steering wheel ingame, generaly you can not see the arms & hands bcs games dont manage arms animations like in a real life. (its like LFS)

in gtr evo there is option to remove wheel drawing ,onboard,

i seem to have to crank the wheel a lot just to get it to turn a little. even when i turn up the sensitivity to 75%.

Steering Ratio (:1), Overall : 16.43

nfs shift: 900°/16.43= +- 55° steering lock in game
720°/16.43= +- 44° steering lock in game
540°/16.43= +- 33° steering lock in game
360°/16.43= +- 22° steering lock in game
270°/16.43= +- 16.5° steering lock in game
bcs its lock-to-lock

gtr evo , same car:

900° = +-27.5° steering lock in game
720° = +- 22° steering lock in game
540° = +- 16.5° steering lock in game
360° = +-11° steering lock in game
270° = +- 8° steering lock in game

bcs its center-to-lock

a accurate real value, for steering ratio, is needed, make a search on google for the steering ratio of the car.

Try different setups & default setup to, not for the ffb, but for the angle of your steering wheel.

Do you turn your steering wheel from 0 to 45°, in real a 250km/h? or just a little of degrees.?

tweaking a lot my ffb , i have see, a good ffb with a wrong steering ratio, can do illusion, (i was using a 28°steering lock for a mazda rx8.
But with another ffb ,i must be set to 55° to have a correct steering angle for real, its why i just post this.

porsche gt2 have a steering ratio between 13:1 -16:1, do the calcul

900° /13 = +-69° steering lock
900° /16 = +- 56° steering lock

but the porsch gt2 is limited ingame to 40° steering lock (900°/40°= 22.5:1 steering ratio (its wrong & cannot be played with 900° steering wheel). its why i say, you cannot play with 720° or 900° (eccept some cheap cars from stage 1 where you can put steering lock to 55° max)

900°/55°=16.3:1 ratio & its just nearly 16.43:1 real steering ratio.

so 900° & 720° are not possible on porsche gt2 & alots of similars street cars

& finaly with default g25 setup (to test before to make some radical ffb modifications).

into (car garage)--->(tuning)---> (press 1 for quick tuning)

there is 2 parameters,

Steering lock : 50
Balance : 50

using max values for settings above & correct streering ratio, make the game more simulator in the same way as gtr evo is. (nearly on "ice" feeling, into corners, you spin without problem) the hardcore feeling near gtr1 must be between 75% & 100% for balance

brainstorm on the way. :s bcs setup is for each cars, stored in cars.bff?

there is realy 270° ffb shape into a 900° steering wheel, i cannot remove this.

the whole range work on 900° but the ffb shape feel like a 270° ffb juxtaposed on 900° steering wheel control.
