The game is like rfactor now ;) but with better graphic's
How To install the mod
First unpack your need for speed.
put the 4 files from the NFS Unpacker Folder in your need for speed shift game root (the folder where the game is installed)
...\Need for Speed SHIFT\
CLick on game_unpack.bat To unpack the game !!!
Extracting all files will take some time 20-30 mins.
After unpacking, right-click on the NFS:Shift shortcut on your desktop, select Properties and add the option '-loose'
to the Target path. The option makes the game accept unpacked files.
( example, Target: "...\Need for Speed SHIFT\shift.exe" -loose )

Copy The Files from my mod to your NFS:SHIFT installation directory and click replace all.
This controller mod is specialy made for the g25. the mod replaced the Logitech g25 separate pedals preset.
you can also use this with all other gaming wheels.
You can start the game now ! but first load the g25 separate pedals preset Options->Gameplay->Controls
and load the Logitech g25 separate pedals (preset 6) you can edit the controls as you like,
The mappings of what buttons or pedal does what but don't edit the settings from adjust control.
They are loaded out of my config and contain changes not shown in the game !
Always change your controller even if its already on this profile ( just load a preset and then go back to preset 6 )
Otherwise it won't use the new settings! and remeber the old default crap...
Try the game i guess u will be amazed how much better it is then the default game.
Of course play in pro mode with all aids off !!!!!!

Yes i removed the rumble! You feel the Real Kerbs now ! i totaly editted the kerb feeling now you feel them the proper way!
and the gripfactor (and gripweight), Gripfactor is on 1.0 now rfactor uses 0.8 shift 0.6 by default. 0.8 also felt great. but its on 1.0 now feel great too!

This mod is a better start. The real mod 2.0b copy/pasted GTR2 tyre slip curves. But both games use different tyre models, and after several experiments in both ways the conclusion is obvious: these tyre slip curves are not equivalent and can not be transfered from one game to another.
@skneo there is still this property you left unchanged in physicstweaking. It seems Center of gravity in shift is lowered with this parameter:

Hi guys,
I'm using a Microsoft FFB wheel & pedals and I know the G25 has its steering settings inverted in all games. The Microsoft doesnt. What do I need to change in your G25 wheel file to turn this effect off? Also, My wheel has about 120 degrees of lock, what should I change to reflect that.

Not sure if the G25 has the inverted setting, it seems that it is not needed anymore (at least I don't need it anymore for my Fanatec wheel while for GTL/GTR2 I do need the inversed effects).

For this you can use preset n 27 - i think it's better. (vehicleset_pc_custom_wheel.xml)

I unpacked my game files and installed this mod. Its really great but I have a small problem. My favorite car a works tuned Corvette cant drive any more, the gearbox seem broken.
Before installing this mod I only experienced this problem one time in the Viper Vs ford match.
I have tried the simple tuning mode, loaded default restarted Shift, but the problem wont go away.
Please help.
Hmm no clue what that could be sell the whole car and redo it ? maybey that will help !?
But i don't think its a problem due to my mod i not changed anything on those area's.

I managed to get the gearbox working again in my works tuned Covette, seems i just had to save the game!
I really must say this mod takes the driving experience to a new level, forcefeedback is perfect with my G25 now, THANKS!

You can restore the files with *.bkp extension created by the installer (e.g. PHYSICSBOOTFLOW.bff.bkp, it's the file prior to mod installation).
I'm planning to save modified files in another container, when the installer is executed again and the mod is already installed, it will give the option to undo the mod changes.

Yes, just the 4 files you mentioned are changed. You can use the backup files created by the injector (*.bkp) to undo changes or use a backup you made yourself.
I mean the .bkp file is the file before you install the mod.

great mod, thx for it, cars fealing is real, nfs shift is now my favourite game, i love to trash stock cars round nordschleife, only the AI cars are now slow but I try to change them as you say in your first post.:thumbup:

They're part of the controller config .xml. To be honest, if you're already using a downloaded of self-tweaked config, then you're probably already using the majority of the tweaks found in this mods config.

skneo, at first I really liked your mod, but I have shifted to the real mod 2.0b because it seems to do a much better job of removing (or at least significantly minimising) the see-sawing effect. Any thoughts on what the difference is? ...I think juls said something about tire slip angles. Plus, I found the AI to be very slow (and couldn't edited them like you suggested in your first post because I use packed game).

The Real Mod makes more extensive changes involving the tyres, chassis, track surfaces and AI profiles. This mods main focus is the grip and AI modifiers found in physicstweaker.xml.
Yep the real mod copy/pastes the tyre slip curve from GTR2. I don't like this idea tyre model is different here but for the moment it gives a quite enjoyable result. Main drawback of real mod is how it somehow makes the car less "alive", it is a bit like on rails, too much on the understeering side, it does not react with road curves like before.

My .bff files are available for direct editing in D:\Games\Need for Speed SHIFT\Pakfiles\ so why all this injector and unpacker vooodoo? Can't they just be replaced directly?
Also, how do you make the Logitech Profiler launch the game with the -loose parameter?
Also, it crashes for me while loading a race, gonna try a reinstall now.

My .bff files are available for direct editing in D:\Games\Need for Speed SHIFT\Pakfiles\
They can't be directly edited, because they are archives containing hordes of files. To edit anything inside you need to unpack them first.
why all this injector and unpacker vooodoo?
Because it is currently the best and easiest way for people to use multiple mods while avoiding conflicts.

In theory, yes. However, it would mean you would only be able to use a single mod at a time if they change the contents of the same .bff. The injector modifies individual files within the .bff archive, allowing you to use multiple mods. Also, uploading a 24mb .bff file when you have only made a tiny change to one file/setting is hardly efficient.

Great job on this mod skneo.... worked straight out of the box with no probs... just have to read the instructions properly).... now it can be played like a proper sim and the wheel is pin point accurate.
I'm also really pleased that the blur has gone as that used to drive me mad (so unrealistic)
One thing that does concern me though is when watching a replay and the car goes over the rumble strips my wheel goes ballistic and I have to hold on to it for dear life.... lol
Also do you know a way of getting rid of the music in replays as it drives me mad!

Yes! Navigate in your NFS Shift directory to the following path \\Audio\Music and delete or rename the file "nfs_racemusic.fsb". This should disable all race music, including replay music. I hope i could help ya!

Just to let you guys know I've installed it twice, and now repairing my game again. The first time, it got to the career mode video, then started loading and crashed. Now after the repair and the second install of the SK Mod, it crashes on startup, and I've had -loose in the target both times. So in short...it's just been getting worse with a repair, and I can't explain why, but I know I'm not trying the mod again until I get an answer about this. I followed the README to a 't'.
EDIT - maybe I need to patch it again. Nvm now it crashed.

One irritating problem: the loading screen at the start doesnt work, i.e. the little yellow bar doesnt go all the way to the right, I find that annoying. Anyway to fix that? Everything else works fine. Thanks!

Same here. Just bought this game and was further disgusted at EA's attempt at car physics. I saw this thread and have been trying to get it working for 3 hours now, but it continues to crash just before the track screen comes up (can hear the car idling just before CTD & MS message).
Is there a compilation of known issues for this? During the unpacking phase of the install it's hard to tell if everything went right since the screen scrolls so fast.

This is quite an old thread now. If you want improved handling, go to the download section and grab Juls' sharp tyre set mod, it improves handling, brakes, force feedback and other minor improvements and works with V1.2 of shift :) The SK mod was for ver 1.0 and hasn't been updated for ages.

ijust wished everyone online had used it.
What we really need is a full conversion of s#h$it, sorry shift to a mod using the sharp tyres by juls. New screens, race modes etc... and a new name. It could be Project Reality.
I guess its impossible now, EA licenses and mod tools were not released yet, and i think it will never be:crying:.

im on the steam version of the game and i tried this mod but the tracks never load. the game is still working but seriously never load. the only track i could get loaded was the small circle track, so i really havnt even tested out the mod yet. any ideas?
Skneo please update your mod to work correctly with v1.02 i can't get the supra to work.

This Sim SK Mod is the BEST! I would say this Mod is so far the most realistic out of all other mods I have experienced.
I've experienced with Real Mod and Sharp Mod but they are all disappointment.
Real Mod is like magic grip and also makes RWD like a FWD. = =; Real? I don't think so.

This mod "NFS Shift Sim SK Mod v2.7" made NFS Shift into a Sim.
I recommend people to install the following mods.
+NFS Shift Sim SK Mod v2.7 / NFSSIMSKV27 (Latest) = Physics Improvement
+Matt's NFS Shift brake fix v1_2 (Latest) = Brake Bias Fix
+Shift-Mod-PCGH Edition_V3beta (Latest) = Graphics Improvement
They work perfectly well together.
My clean installation procedures as follow.
1./Install NFS Shift
2./Update SHIFT to Patch v1.2
3./Put nfsshift.bms, quickbms and game_unpack.exe(for v1.2) into the root folder where SHIFT.exe is located.
4./Prepare SHIFT for mods -> Uncheck the Read Only for the "Pakfiles" folder
5./Unpack SHIFT by executing game_unpack.exe (wait until unpack process finishes, once done unpacking, it will then prompt with "press any key to continue")
6./Copy Sim SK Mod contents over to SHIFT folder (merge and overwrite)
7./Copy Brake Bias Fix contents over to SHIFT folder (merge and overwrite)
8./Copy PCGH Edition contents over to SHIFT folder (merge and overwrite)
9./Enjoy!
I am using Win 7 Ultimate 32bit as the OS.
PS: Supra does work, I have no any issues.

Ist it possible to use this great mod AND the Exotic Cars Mod? I've installed the Exotic Cars Mod and don't know, if it works to use both mods.
