Hello, first of all id like to say im REALLY enjoying this game :-D but i got some issues with 5.1 sound.
i got a logitech G51 surround sound speakers, and the driver is believe is SoundMAX HD audio. anyway its the driver that came with my motherboard (asus commando). i use 5.1 in the advanced audio properties in windows. that works fine for GRiD, CoD and other games, but with Shift it sounds like the game does not support 5.1. sounds like GTR2 and TDU (missing sounds, or sometimes very low volume etc.) can anyone help me? would be nice:mrgreen:

I can confirm that I get plenty of sound from my rear speakers, so Shift must support 5.1 surround. You said your drivers came with the motherboard... have you checked the manufacturers website for an update? Often the included drivers are out of date before you even buy the board.

I don't know what else you could do if surround is working in your other games.
I know it doesn't help, but just as a basis for comparison, I'm getting surround sound with SHIFT, but I think it's the CMSS(sp?) in Creative's software. Not sure. I'm running a Fatality X-Fi...

I think at least the menu sounds are true 5.1, with sounds moving from back to front :)

its not that SHIFT doesnt support 5.1, because in the race itself its fabulous (in all cameras). it gets bad in the replays and when i press 8 in the tuning section (8 is help, then the guy starts explaining what each parameter does). with 5.1 on, i cant hear the guy at all, and in the replays i can only hear the engine when im close to the car, and still i hear it very soft.

The cmss is maybe the problem?
i use cmss to add virtual surround into headphone stereo.
but isnt working well all times with games.
(basic x-fi), i dont use cmss for nfs shift.

Stig, I had the problem where I could not hear the guy. He talks on the very center channel. I had to use some control fluid on my center channel connection and that cleared it up for me. I also needed to do that for my left rear speaker. Can you use your diagnostic software to verify your getting output on ALL your speakers?

@Teddie: Yes, i have got output on all of them, in the test section in the driver, as well as in the race itself, and in the replay when the car is directly in front of me (but somehow its very low volume).
@ the other guys: i dont have a x-fi soundcard or this cmss software (dont even know what it is! xD) so that cant be the problem

Do you have some type of software mixer for your card that lets you adjust each speakers level? (probably a stupid question, sry).

yes i can do that in my driver and in the windows settings as well (i think they both change the same settings) ive been experimenting with the swap center/subwoofer option in the driver but that only gave weird effects in the menu
