Is it me or does it seem like there is never anybody online racing, and when you do find a server the ping is crazy high and no-one seems to finish a race... 25 ppl in practice and quali but a soon as the race starts ppl start to drop like flies. Almost makes me wounder why race online.

All depends what time zone you are. I am in Australia, and find no-one n during the day, but after about 9pm, and thru til about 10am ther is quite a few. Of course weekends are a different story, just about always ppl racing.
I mostly race in servers with 200+ ping, and have had very few lag issues, compared with the amount of hours played.
Your best bet is to join a league, publis servers mean wreckers can come and go as they please, that is why most players will drop out 1st lap, they usually get taken out.
After saying that, I havent seen a wrecker for weeks now..... maybe things are looking up!

Wish I could say I haven't seen a wrecker for weeks, but the last vew days, probably 2 out of 3 races have had at least one.

The really interesting one was a driver name of "P1" who was decently fast. Lots faster than anyone else. And he simply drove over anyone who got in his way. You did NOT want him directly behind you on the grid in the 2nd race. I watched him plow through at least 3 on one start. He seemed to enjoy it as he could obviously qualify in the front but didn't qualify for the first race at all. You'd think with his speed, he could easily afford to go around other people.

I just starting racing with R07 online and I have started with public servers. Lots of guys just run over whoever is in front of them. I get punted all the time. It is very frustrating to brake at the right time and know that you are likely to get run over.

I did get in one race that was OK today, but it's dificult finding decent races

I've had the same issue. Of course, part of my problem seems to be systemic from the fact that I'm easily 2-3 seconds slower per lap than everybody else. (not enough driving time)

When I do fairly well however, there's always somebody that'll push you out. I wish the damage model were a bit more realistic - maybe people would think twice about that.

What makes me wonder is why anyone would want to run a 3 lap race.

They have 30 minutes of qualifying and 3 freekin laps of race. Makes no sense.

If we can scrape enough players we can make our own No-grip server and organize races here. We won't have to deal with 30 min practice/30 min quali/5 min race

Most online open servers are filled with hotlappers. But thats not entirely the racers fault. The servers operators are the ones setting up races. Really setting up any less than a 15 lap race depending on where, is going to be a free-for-all anyways. It didnt use to be that way years ago. Leagues are the best answer.

Just using the default number of laps works good. I'm in if we can sort setting up a host session. It appears to not be a slamdunk. You don't simply click the host button and setup the race parameter options.
