And now what we need is a no-cd version of the patch.exe.

Ade,
You're welcome. And I see you've turned some more very good hotlaps. Done with the patched version?

Ade,
You're welcome. And I see you've turned some more very good hotlaps. Done with the patched version?

Those laps were done unpatched.

I haven't had a drive since getting the patch so I am about to apply it before running some chassis comparisons at Brands Indy. I want to gauge the different chassis feel for each of the cars (WTCC and 87WTCC). If any circuit will show a "settled" chassis out of the box then that circuit will. Judging by feel and what I know form previous sims I suspect the BMWs will have a hard time there. :) They can be twitchy. I have a SEAT time already so it will be interesting.

Does the patch reflect any physics changes? I didn't see any in the release notes.

If I get any decent laps I'll post 'em up.

I don't think it has any physics changes. They would be hard to feel, I'm sure. And as you say, they didn't mention any.

I wish I had thought about the no-cd deal before I'd installed. I would have waited too.

Hopefully, it won't be long in coming.

A few quick notes about the patch.

1) I now have dead zones available.

2) Menu loads seem slower for some reason.

3) RACE 07 exe now seeks to connect to the internet.

I wonder about point three. An offline installation shouldn't require connectivity. I first noticed it when I went to start the game after patch installation. My firewall informed me that the executable was wanting access to the net. I gave it a once off permission and started the game. Twice during gameplay I completely lost steering and suffered major menu freezes. On both occasions the RACE 07 exe had again sought net access and required a fresh permission.

I have now granted a permanent permission for the executable (which I can take away at any time) simply because I like uninterrupted gameplay.

I wonder what it's doing?

I wonder what it's doing?

I also wonder what they are trying to accomplish. Since i am very happy running Race07 w/no cd and absolutuly no proplems I am sure i am going to leave this patch alone untill more is learned.

Thanks for the information.

I just checked and sure enough, the patched RACE07 is opening timewait connections to the internet.

It's probably sloppy programming. Whomever worked up the patch left some code in the offline version that didn't belong.

Lousy programming.

I'm going to check and see if I can replace the exec with the old no-cd version and run with that.

Hey folks. fwiw and just to let you know, i put the original offline "Race07(v1.0.0.0).exe" file back in the folder - ran the 1.0.0.9 patch/update. then backedup "Race07 (v1.0.0.9).exe" file and then overwrote it with the nocd patch. Started the game and went away driving. hehe... So no probs here with the same nocd after patching Race07 to v1.0.0.9.

Yeah, I just replaced the patched exec with the no-cd as I mentioned in post #14, and it runs ok. I even set a pb during my test. ;)

And doesn't start opening IP connections.

The controller page still has the deadzone options, so that's not in the patch.exe, but it would seem that there might be a thing or two that'll be lost. Big deal.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I'll grab me a no-cd and try it out (back up the game exe first of course).
