All the ui files seem to be missed by default by the unpacking scripts - they're the .bff files in \ui. You can run quickbms over them, and they unpack into a bunch of sequentially numbered files, and about the only thing that's plain text in them are the filenames for icons. Which is a bit of a bummer, because if there's one thing you might have expected to be in .xml ...
So anyway, does anyone have any ideas as to what we're looking at in these files? Anyone working on an editor? I am tempted to just dig in and start messing around with them but I can think of faster and less tedious ways for this to get done, like, someone else who's very nice telling me what the hell I am looking at :)

We haven't figured out how to edit any of the interface yet, nor do we know exactly what most of those numbered files are. By opening some of them in a hex editor you can see various commands, but as for actually editing them in any useful way... nope.
This is a problem which has already put paid to a number of potentially useful mods.

Yeah plan b is "poke at it with xvi32 a lot" but wow would I rather be doing just about anything else.

Heh... good luck with that. I had a go at it a while back, but the effort just wasn't worth it.

Not exactly UI-work, but I have modified some of the cameras that shows the car in menus and in paint/vinyl-shop. I have made some a bit faster (menu) or removed the (stupid) camera transition delay (vinyl/paintshop).
Now they switch to the car parts/sides right away.

Camera mods uploaded. They should be in downloads soon.
They came a bit later than I promised, but I was kinda busy during weekend ;-)
- NOTE! - Sorry to every person that downloaded my v1.0 UI Cam Tweaks, some numbers were messed up (menu rotating cams only) and for some reason I didnt noticed my error until it was too late. I guess I tested the wrong files before I sended it here.. :( :(
Its now fixed - and v1.1 UI Cams can be downloaded now.
