I wanted to separately thank the everyone involved with the PG mods creation for the hours of enjoyment they have given me with their creation. I have always said that when people care about the work they are doing, whether for fun or profit, it shows in the end product. I can think of no better example of this than the P&G mod. The attention to detail, in both the physics and the cars themselves is simply amazing.

So I simply wanted to personally extend my thanks and admiration for the people who have taken their time and effort to give all of us what could easily be a stand alone game for absolutely nothing, zip, nadda, nicht, bubkis.

So what is the plan for the next installment? And at some point twill all the cars from GTL be available? I cannot wait to see what cars like the 906, GT40 etc. will be like after they get the P&G treatment.

And again, thank you for the hours of enjoyment I have had, and will continue to have with this great, great mod.

Check out the GTLW website (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), especially the Mods section (http://fp.gplegends.plus.com/GTLW/mods.htm)

And thanks for the kind words

I too would like to thank the makers of this incredible MOD. This is the most fun I have ever had in any racing simulator.

Thank you all for the kind words. I can assure you they really help us and keep our morale high.
As David said, our website has information about the mod and the releases we are planning to do, nevertheless I'd like to write a couple of worlds about the next release.

As you guys probably know, we are working full time and very hard on the 2nd release, which covers the GranTurismo cars of the 60s. That means coupè and roadsters of great fame that almost everybody dreams of. You all know the usual suspects, Ferraris, Cobras, GT40s...
And actually this is what worries our team most of all. Probably most of you have great expectations for those monsters. When someone is driving one of our falcons, or gr2 Mustangs, expects a big heavy bus, and doesn't gets too critic about it. Or when you drive an alfaGTA or a Lotus Cortina, you can drift along with your foot down to the floor without big problems.
But, what will happened behind the wheel of a mighty cobra? One is probably waiting for an amazing car, but trust me, the high speed front lift is really exagerate, and if you set the car to handle this (see: oversteer setup), it can get VERY tricky at lower speeds and you need lot's of attention with the gas pedal.

Another example is the GT40 mk2. Now you're driving the abarth gr5 and with its high revving zippy engine that goes up to 8500rpm and continuous gear changing, you have the impression that you're going really fast. Great, now imagine yourself behind the wheel of a car with 7 liters (that is SEVEN) of american muscle, made specifically and ONLY for the long straights of LeMans, which means being as stable aerodinamicaly as possible on long straights and heavy braking and you only have 4 gears. A car capable to exit the parabolica at monza, and just a bit after the pit exit, will do 300km/h... with still plenty to go. But you better start braking as soon as possible because the brakes are, yes better than the abarth... but not THAT better! That means braking waaay before the 300m. As a matter of fact, make that 500m or more!

And it's not done, because the braking itself is difficult. The car has quite some downforce at the rear. That is making the car very stable at high speeds. But it also has quite some lift at the front! Which means the nose, already light (the engine is at the back remember?) can be very very light indeed. So there you are at any track able to do EASILY more than 260 at any given short straight, and you need to brake hard. At high speeds the front wheels will block under heavy braking, but with lower speeds they will be able to sustain much more braking force. So you move the braking bias to the rear, and it is all fine for awhile but once you go under 150km/h the rears start to block! Hell on earth lol.
Oh and did I told you about the 4 gears gearbox that works with the 7liter engine? ahh... it's great, or maybe not. You have tons of torque from say... 1500rpms. 1st gear does something like 120-150km/h... and you find yourself using just 3000rpms for some turns and it still burns tires!

So why am I saying all this? Just a warning and advice to all of you :). Yes the cars, most of them are sweet to drive. Cars like the etypes, the ferraris, alpines, the shelby mustangs, the corvettes... great fun. But you need to respect them. Remember that most of them have similar sized tyres to a "simple" alfa gta or a falcon, but the triple amount of horsepower! And there are cars that will simply be HARD to master. no matter what.
We will of course provide once again a manual, but... get ready to be blown away!

Any questions? :D

Bring it on, daddio!!! I want these cars, and the challenges they present. (I also want a little more help in terms of set up direction, I know the already released cars are set up for understeer, and that with a few clicks you can make tail happy funsters, I just don't know what the "few clicks" are! Still, I am learning...)

I almost don't want you to rush though, I already have enough on plate learning the cars we already have. Take your time, and make them as good (in their tricky, cantankerous big-power-skinny-tyre way) as the cars you have already completed.

Looking forward to the Elan especially...

I think 'respect' is the right word!
I found myself crashing the IROCS all the time. Well, now that we got the RSR's, I'm in awe.
For me, widebody RSR is the Porsche (150% Porsche Porsche you might say :D): air cooled, with fat, wide, pudding soft bias ply slicks and all the attitude of a drunk alligator. I was like 'holy sh*t, I'm in a RSR... holy sh*t, I'm going to die' and I started to actually finish laps. Amazing.

that's the best description of an RSR i've heard for a while... the mod must be good.

Awesome mod and praise for it. My only complaint is I'm a chevy man and have to drive those old fords.

Agreed, best thing I can say is I've always been more of an 'rFactor' guy, but since joining the P&G series at Race2Play I've started rF maybe 5 times in 2 months.

It's that good.

If there are any GTLW members in Florida I will gladly buy you a lot more than one beer. You guys rock.

I'm slightly behind the times here, having only today finally downloaded and installed P&G.
Just wanted to add my thanks and also congratulations to all the team who were involved in the creation of this mod on a simply stunning job well done!!!:up::up:

So far I've only started playing with the Lotus Cortina, having an absolute ball in that! but I can hear one of those Wide Body 911's calling me though....So look out track marshals, hay bails and hedges, here I come!:roflmao:

Yes, a great mod - and Aristotelis' post has got me drooling....... A GT40 on "grip-proof" tyres :D

There is one reason only I don't drive this all the time - pure and simple; the GTL League over here.

Otherwise you wouldn't get me off it.

I think the GT's might force a re-think 'though ;)

Huge thanks to all the team

Thanx for the comments gents, I can't talk for the others on the team but I'm sure everyone at GTLW feels proud with the results achieved so far with P&G and it's good to know people appreciate the work done. :o:up:

I can't advance much yet (:D) since many things are still being prepared on the backstages for Part-II of P&G, but I believe this is going to be very good, personally think better than Part-I was/is. :)

I just hope that people will always understand that it has been taking us so long because investment in every little detail has been made (once again, and even more).
Everybody is still working on many little adjustments (though some are major!) for the best recreation, be it in 3D-models and textures/skins (external and internal parts), physics, new sounds, etc, same for the persistence in accurate data research and its correct implementation that still goes on, etc... this takes a LOT of time to get right and well done as you can imagine.

...in fact I'm talking mostly about the kind of details that, for some, will only show up if you really pay attention (and I mean to each single car).
...for me, also as a user of P&G (which I am), this is modding at the highest level.

Resuming, I think P&G is going to mature and grow to another level with the upcoming release of Part-II (GTC 60's), I can antecipate that.:up:

...I just wish that all this praise and good feedback so far reflected in online-racing numbers at public-servers... :-/
While leagues have been good "customers" of P&G, it has been extremely frustrating to see just a small bunch of guys spreaded on various public online-servers (for pick-up racing) only from time to time. :-/

Again, thanx everybody for the kind words and support so far!:up:

Thanks for the message.
But I wonder, would it be improper to humbly ask for some sort of progress report every now and then? Or perhaps you prefer to work in secret (and in peace!).
I log onto NoGrip at least twice a day to check up if maybe there are some new goodies for the P&G... I dare not say what I'm waiting for :D , I'm sure I'm not alone.

You are not alone, brother! I too have checked at least once a day for the past few months. A small progress report or screen shot now and again would be great. I have much respect for your work. Take your time, we know it will be worth the wait.

You guys have totally have the correct ethos in the way you're going about this.
I only dabbled with GTL (I'm a late comer to all current sims and Started with GTR2) and although I loved the content I could tell It was an older game than GTR2.
In contrast the quality of P&G is up there with anything, quite probably the very best racing sim available today anywhere IMO.
Using GTR2 as the base was such a great idea.

I only really use sims for online racing though, all my online racing is merely practice for league events.
So I too would like to see more people online with it.
Apparently the numbers off users is quite large? If so are we perhaps getting close to a NGR P&G league starting up?!

I don't really know how the system works with the server(s) but we have GTR2 on Sat nights, GTL on Sunday's and then Wednesday night racing. Is that all of them? so the rest of the time the server is up for GTR2 league practice? What about some Friday night (which is the only other time I'm available here in NZ: Saturday morning!) events for P&G? practice could be offline if necessary so it would only need an hour or so of server time. I would imagine that Friday night could be the most popular night for GTR2 practice, so there would need to be plenty of interest for those guys to be OK with. ........But it would mean I could race with fellow NoGrippers in this FAB sim!

Back to reality: However long you guys spend working on each stage of the project has got to be worth it.
You're creating something very special indeed here.

Just throwing my .02 cents in. I run in a Race2Play(www.nasasimracing.com) league on Sunday nights using P&G. We have 14-18 drivers every Sunday night and great racing when we choose the "right" track for the small bore cars.
Our only complaint is CTD's. We find that when people are jumping out to try different cars, we always lose 1-3 drivers when that same person reconnects. Lately, we've had several drivers get disco'd while qualifying also. We have rock solid connections also at race2play. Is this a GTR2 flaw or a P&G mod flaw?

Sounds like a car set issue, like the cars being used be the re-entering player is not on the pc of the one booted.
Can those booted get back into the session?

Baston8005

Those booted can get back into the session as long as it is not in qual or a later session.
