View Full Version : Using MoTeC for tire pressures and what else.....

I've found the quickest way to work out the proper inflation for the tires is with MoTeC.

The detail that does the trick is the average temps on the graph that shows under TYRES and is the Tyre Temperatures page. I've got a graph for each tyre and got three very valuable functions that show in the upper right hand of each graph. The three show the lowest temps, highest temps, and average temps.

The average temps tell me just about all that's needed. It's the average of the inner/middle/outer temps for that tyre.

It usually only takes a couple of runs to have the pressures good to go.

Anybody know of any other MoTeC things that're valuable for something?

I use Motec to see how effective my braking and turn-ins are. You can check out the braking graphs to see how smooth your footwork is and also check the lateral g-force graphs to see that you are getting the max lateral-g's and where you are not pushing hard enough and where you need to let up.

Also, Motec can be used to look at your RPM history to see if you are running consistently in your car's power band range.

Motec is very handy, thanks for the head's up on the tire temsp- I am going to check out the motec data for my race last night, I was wondering how to adjust my tire temps.
