I had an interesting discussion awhile ago. It was about the 60/40 brake bias setting that's thrown on your car by the default setups. The discussion got into theory a bit. Basically, one pair of tires can't do what all 4 tires can do, and if you put too much of the overall work on just 2..... well, you know all that, right.
Anyway, I got some indirect feedback yesterday about the deal. I very often move the brake bias to get some of the brake load off the fronts. You can't really do much, but sometimes it doesn't take much.
Any track that has more than one high speed straight into a hard corner is going to give the fronts on a FWD fits. And if the track eats tires elsewhere, those fronts are going to wear.
Ran a couple of 15 lappers the other day at an abrasive track. And on the last couple of laps of each race, the guys I was following up till then started coming back to me. Turns out they were running out of rubber. I never heard from my crewchief until the last lap. And my fastest lap was the next to last one in the 2nd race.
This sim is really pretty good. It amazes me time and again how real world stuff is reflected in it.
