sorry to hijack Pat01's thread of ctdp to race07..so we talk in here now..

Here is the list of tracks i have converted to Race07. These are all GTR2 version downloaded right from this great website. So, what we need is for anyone who is interested to find the email address of the track creator/converter, pm me with the information and I will contact that person for the proper permissions. If permission is received, I will spot check the track and release to the public..sounds pretty easy, as i dont see any reason why they wouldnt wanna give permission, unless they want to do their own conversion..
Daviking will moderate this thread as he has plenty of great ideas to get this rolling..many thanks to him!!
Also, if there is any one else that has converted tracks and would like to add to this list please do so..Hopefully, this week i will have a step by step tutorial with everything you need(except simed) to convert the tracks very easily..

heres my list..obviously, a few of these tracks may never see race07 publicly, but at least wanted to show you what tracks can be done..the conversion process on these tracks was about 4 hours. testing is another story..

Hi Guys..

I have been investigating how find the contact adresses as easy as
possible for all the Rickylix tracks / 3x large PM's are shipped to him.

In 1-2 days I will write a lil posting of my findings, just to help the new
guys out that want to get into the wonderful world of Race07 track
conversion & at the same time want to spend as little time as possible
digging up the needed contact adresses for the permissions.;)

If we keep up this pace & at the same time get a few more guys into

As promised here are my findings regarding the easiest method of getting in
touch with the GTR2 / GTL track converters, for the Race07 track conversions.

Forget about doing 1000 google searches to hunt down the email adresses.
That system is a true pain in the butt / and a true time eater as well..
( Using that system might kill your interest in getting the permissions )...

The absolute easiest system to use is to go via the members DB of No-Grip
and the RSC Forums / Combined they have alot more than 100.000 profiles.

( The No-Grip profiles allow to ship a PM requesting for the permissions )...

(RSC allows both Email & PM messages, some members wont allow email contact).

If possible, it's recommended to use the Email option as first choice,
because PM's often require the member in question to pop by the site first.

A few tips of what is recommended to do / before you convert a track(s).:

To make the job as easy for yourself as possible don't forget to read the
almost always included .txt file as the first thing you do.
The .txt file will have a description of who converted the track(s) to GTR2
or GTL in the first place & more often than not a description of who made
the orginal track as well.
(Will save later investigating time & will ease your own .txt file credits list).

Another thing to keep in mind is that alot of GTR2 quick-click conversions
of GTL tracks ( still ) are scattered around the net..
If your GTR2 track does not have a .txt file with a description of who did
the actual GTR2 conversion, there's a good chance it's a quick click job..
(In that case you just need to get permissions from the GTL converter instead).
(If the GTR2 track only has a GTL related .txt file it's a quick click job too).

Also check the list of which tracks have been released already or are pending
a release / just check the first posting of this topic for the pending list.

Recommended is that you convert the track(s) first & test them out to
make sure they work as intended, before you ( kindly of course ) request for
the permissions / No need to get permissions if a convertion turns out bad.
( If you don't get the release permissions, just enjoy the track yourself ).

Don't forget to give credits to all the guys that previously has been involved
in the track you have converted / including the original track maker as well.
(Just use the info found in the .txt file - when you make your release .txt file)

How many tracks would be a good idea to go for ..??
Well just as long as the tracks you have converted works as intended,
there should be no good reason to hold back in numbers..
( The Race07 scene needs as many track converted as possible for sure ).

As Darock ( wisely ) suggested we do need an easy for all to understand
step by step guide - of how to approach the actual convertion job..

Hopefully we will get such a guide before long / allowing as many as possible
to helpout in this massive ( but truely cool ) project..

If you have already converted a few / several tracks for own personal use,
Please consider helping this project out by releasing the tracks to the public.

In case you have a question or two please don't hesitate to make a posting in
this topic / I'm sure a kind soul will help out as best possible.

I see a lot of conversion that doesn't seem to use Race07 engine to its best. I see that in trees, buildings, etc. They oftentime look like they're coming out of GTR2 (don't get me wrong, still a good graphical engine, but not up to par with Race07).

I dunno what the conversion implies, but, would it be possible to "enhance" the graphics while converting it?

SuperCouilles, yes, there are some tracks that the .dds files dont looks as good as in gtr2 due to race07's more advanced graphic engine. I am spot checking the tracks and if i see anything, i update it to make it look good. for example, the jerez track, many grass textures did not come out right and there is actually no texture at all, it is just a green color..also, the oval tracks road textures were very messed up, but only need some material adjustments. but, i will make sure each track looks as good as possible before releasing it. The only problem that i see in the future is small fixes to things in the gdb, scn, and aiw files. unfortunately, i dont have time to fix all these "little" issues, so after i release this first crop of tracks, i will start another thread for bugs in the track and we will need others in the community to fix those things..most of them will just be small text fixes..nothing to download etc..

I have been offered to convert the track from rf to race07 and seek permission again..
You can't convert a track from rF straight to Race07, since the latter doesn't understand the gmotor2 .HAT files. Therefore you have to convert via GTR2. Also note that you have to have GTR2 generate a new .HAT file every time you change something in a Race07 object that is set HATFile=true, or if you change a material name that effects driving surfaces somehow, even if it's just a FFB effect ( e.g. road1 -> lgroad1).

I heard recently that Mallala has been converted to gTR2. I know (ie live near) the original creator and know he loves seeing his original NR2003 work getting converted to other sims. If anyone is considering converting it, I have no doubt permission will be granted. :)

I do believe that this thread is for US (everybody) to get the tracks converted faster and so on start the little adjustments like you said, a new AIW, a Menuart, etc...

PS: I have two tracks that you have forgotten to add in the list, they are already in the pipe (done), SEPANG and BIRMINGHAM, both from the great DutchDevil, if he get us the permission, its good to go!

I actually converted Frank55's version and not Mr DD's, so i have to hold back on that one for now..Ive tested all the tracks for graphics, timing and aiw and all are good in those departments..little things may come up that can be easily fixed in the .trk and .gdb files and definetly looking to you and others to be able to find those fixes and post them in a new thread i will create once the tracks are uploaded..

if you have done birmingham and sepang, by all means pm Daviking and he will get you Mr DD's pm info..he replied rather fast and gave me permission on all the tracks i asked for except tsukuba as stated earlier..but he was very cool with it!

I guess I don't understand the reasons for offering the tracks in a huge package on some other download site, when NoGrip bases it's existence on it's forums and download pages.

There are HUGE reasons to release tracks individually and at one central location. Version control of tracks is a major mess for the community when they are scattered about. And when they're lumped into one huge download that creates even more problems.

Plus you're basically using NoGrip here to advertise going elsewhere for something that they do.

I'm a moderator at an R/C website and one of their rules is that posts that advertise competitive services and functions are to be deleted. It is perfectly sensible to do.

A lot of sites protect themselves and if they didn't would simply provide a means for their own destruction.

I hope you plan to upload them here soon, real soon.

Darock..yes, for sure, they will individually be uploaded. unfortunately for me, i dont have the time to do them one by one. I have pm'd Daviking and he will hopefully be helping in the coordination of the individual uploads. My goal is to make people happy and enjoy some new stuff for the sim. I mean no disrepect to No-Grip or the rules and only want to comply to them. I dont think I expected so many permission granted's and just wanted to get them out there. No watkins glen is not a no-go at all..

It just needs to be converted & permissions to release it needs to
be obtained / Should not be anything impossible to accomplish..:up:

Jcarno-i have Watkins Glen, but i didnt convert it. So, it will be up to the converter or anyone else who wants to do it. most people have been very nice with permissions, as theres not much differences in between the race07 and gtr2 file layouts..but graphically there are some differences and some track makers/converters want to see that that their hard work is going to look as best as possible in this new platform..
on that note..4ph3x has given permission for toban, essington, and mills..but first wants to see what i have done..so a beta of those tracks are on the way to him for review..

Well i did PM rickylix, i have done road america and paul ricard, also all layouts for toban, but not sure if we're allowed to release this one..Still have a minor problem with Toban, if anyone can helpwould be good..problem i having is :first one is in additional events, practice mode all the garage doors are shut except for the last one, so i seem to be in the wrong place.
The other problem is, when AIW are out, only tested in race mode so far, they cross the pit exit line stop, and return to the pitbox but outside it like they have just come in for a pitstop, any ideas on these, this is such a great track as well.

It was really exciting to see that Laguna Seca had been released here for Race 07... I downloaded it right away, installed it, but once I slect the track, it just sits there and says "Loading...." forever... anyone else having this problem? So far all other track conversions have worked out just fine.

Hi guys, noobie to this but I noticed a conflict on this track. Don't know if this is the right forum for it but the CastleCombe track when I installed it gives me a Safety Car parked diagonally on the grid when I use race event and custom race settings... I have posted same comment on comments for download of track.

Rickylix & I have been discussing how to expand the project as best possible..:)

We have come to the conclusion that we need 1-2 guys helping out
in the requesting for permissions department..

The idea goes like this...
It's not fair that the guys helping out with the actual track conversions
& at the same time getting into tech areas that do need abit of time to
learn for many, has to concern themselves about getting the permissions
for the tracks as well...;)
( The Project would like to helpout in obtaining the permissions for all )..:)

But for that we need a few guys that like to searh forums member DB's
and shipping - standard PM / Letters to the guys that converted the
tracks to GTR2 / GTL in the first place..:D
( You just need to have a good sense of organizing / that's basically it ).
( We already have organized a fully working "ground" system for this job ).

Anoyne into this important work-task please shoot me a PM..:up:

I think Rickylix has mentioned this before - we only get mass-results
by ways of large scale co-work etc..:up:

Btw - We also need 1-2 guys helping out spread the word on all the Race07
forums of the world / in other words a recruitment job..;)

Overall The thing that bug with this project is the way the tracks are converted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually, the track is taken from - let's say - GTR2 and converted to Race07 without being modified. At least, the visuals doesn't change much (if ever it changed).

What is bugging me is that, IMHO, Race07 graphical engine is one step up from GTR2. Knowing this, I'd like to get (see) more out of your conversions. I whish the track was not only converted, but enhanced at the same time.

So, all-in-all, I'm wondering if you guys could (not only) convert the track and enhance them by using his textures (when availabe)? Of course, that is, if he grant permission.

SLN has always been updating tracks from the past SIM Games and is very good
but that is what he does and enjoys,

the conversions are desinged to get them into the game and iron out the bugs ,

to update the texutures and other parts of the track format needs time and
someone like SLN to get involved.........

There are several persons who can work at a mod... it's not a secret it is called a team.. :D

At this time Rickylix, Mojo, Meck2 ... for the tracks and I for the cars, are the first step person (converters).

To complete the teams (tracks and cars) are missing textures gurus and physics experts :D someone well involved in could do, no need to be an expert or a guru.

I wish some of these missing guys could join us to complete the job.

I feel like walking a desert alone...

:) Rally style tracks will be really needed soon.

Overall The thing that bug with this project is the way the tracks are converted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually, the track is taken from - let's say - GTR2 and converted to Race07 without being modified. At least, the visuals doesn't change much (if ever it changed).

What is bugging me is that, IMHO, Race07 graphical engine is one step up from GTR2. Knowing this, I'd like to get (see) more out of your conversions. I whish the track was not only converted, but enhanced at the same time.

SuperCouilles, believe me, i agree with you 100%..ever since i played grand prix for atari 2600 i have wanted to see the best graphics for race sims. my dream is one to see a sim that looks like "the real world"..with games like Crysis, i know graphically we are not too far away now!!
but the great thing about this community is there are several people that get things started..Race07 is very new and we are only at the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. just take a look at the gtr2 download section, the track updates outweigh the tracks themselves..so, in the future i can see many graphic updates and changes for all of the tracks and mods..we all wanna create a little excitement for this new platform and getting new mods and tracks to try is the first step..
im sure for most sim racers, we all have two sides. the one side is the impatient one and wants plenty of goodies to try out and make the sim as new, fresh and exciting as possible. the other patient side wants a perfectly modeled and textured mod/track with no bugs and will wait months/years to finally have a taste..so for the modders, we try and cater to both..it is probably going to be at least 6 months to a year before any brand new sim platform comes out..so just give it some time and Race07 will just continue to grow and prosper..


Geeman..I would also love to see Oran and all the Aussie tracks for tha matter ;)..they certainly can be converted over, but we have got to get the proper permissions..i cant remember, but maybe thats an MMM track and i have not heard any responses from them yet...

a V1.0 of the tracks & later work on gfx enhancements etc..:up:

Please just ship Elwood a link to the tracks you are converting & he will
test the tracks carefully out before the official release..;)
(As soon as the organizing are in full place, I plan to help Elwood beta test tracks).

Testing the tracks out for bugs etc, is a time consuming task..
By moving the workload of track testing away from the track converters,
we hope they will consider spending some of the gained time to convert
many more tracks..:)

Important is that all track converters makes a posting when permissions
has been obtained & other progress has been made..
(This is needed to help keep the pending track list in best possible order).

And of course make a post as soon as concrete work has begun on
a track / several tracks..
( To avoid the scenario of 2 guys converting the same tracks )..;)
( Which ..sadly recently happened regarding the Birmingham track ).

We still need 1-2 guys into hunting permissions down for the tracks..:)
Not a difficult task / just requires abit of time & organizing as well..
( This job will result in alot more tracks will be released )..
( Shoot me a PM & i will helpout as best possbible to get you started ).;)

We are working -full speed- towards a system that goes like this...:

of the tracks / we need guys especially into this, very time consuming task.

Like daviking mentioned, and as I'm sure you can appreciate; that the testing of tracks is & can be quite a time consuming task.. This is a privilege for me as I get to see the latest goods soon to be on offer, but more importantly (I hope) a little help for Ricky and other quality track makers out there, so that they are able to carry on with their speciality.

Naturally, I intend to do my best at spotting any probs, errors etc.. with tracks but like everyone else out there, I'm far from perfect & I'm probably better at making mistakes as opposed to spotting them ;)

This is a great time for Race07 (it's a great game it deserves it!) and with an amazing community here at nogrip, RSC, and countless other sites I could mention ... with all of OUR help , no matter how little how small it can only get much better. (Am I starting to sound like a politician, preacher or what?? :uhm: )

IMO, it's a nonsense that these guys decided to take back the conversion at this stage. I know they are working on v.2.1 - and this would explain an halt on current portage of 2.0 to Race07 - but since there's no due date, they should have let you convert your it and let us enjoy that track (which, I must say, is one step up from Raceking's version - which is good nevertheless...).

I love it, absolutely.

The reason why I like Raceking’s is that, I think, it “flow” better. You’re basically in for a smoother ride. FPS helps also.

As for NOS, it’s simply more like the real thing (as far as I can tell from watching posted video on Youtube). Track’s prettier, track’s bumpier, track’s more of a challenge to drive. Certain part of it is totally different from Raceking’s and for the better.



Don’t get me wrong, it’s two astonishing piece of work. But if I had to decide a winner…

Need alittle help here, i have converted all 4 layouts of Toban, and it looks yummy, but, Toban long is fine, toban reverse, short, and short reverse have problems in the pit area with the aiw, on the reverse versions as soon as the aiw exit the pit lane they return to the pitbox outside the garage and facing the wrong way, and never move again..on the short version there seem to be a handful of cars in the same pitbox, which just happens to be in the middle of the finish straight..lol..also not all the garage doors open either..any clues??

Heh! I've seen that many time while playing it in GTR2.
Maybe this is not due to your conversion but the one before?

I did my first Toban GTR2 release with SLN textures as well, but he was quite pissed that I used them so I had to step over to the imho far superiour Hudson Kerrs.... If you want them for yourself u just need 3d simed and extract the SLN dat and paste the DDS files in ur trackdir....

Imho Toban, Mills & Essi really suit the R.A.C.E. cars very well and all tracks are a blast online.

What a stupid reaction/behaviour! IMO, if you take time to re-work textures and release them as add-on, the more you find them applied to tracks/conversions, to more you should be happy. That's unless you have something against Simbin and like to find your textures only on rFactor or something... Now I get why you had to remove your first conversion...

4ph3x this is your conversion im using, any idea on the problems?? seems strange to me, but i have similier problems appearing with the Russian Ring as well, again with that circuit it seems to be with the variations of the track, all seem fine in GTR2..

Does anyone know what line in the .aiw file would cause the cars to brake as they cross the start/finish line of a track?? im converting a certain track which has variations of the track as well, and only one suffers from this, so i want to track the line in one of the others versions and replace it..

Also if anyone is good at working with a aiw editor give me a shout as im crap, and i have some great tracks to release but can't till the a.w has had some work..

Trust me m8 i love this track and always have done, so it has been done well, some of ][udsons textures have been used, modified the track texture somewhat, looks great in my opinion, upgraded the cornering/speed of the aiw, really competitive now, only downside to this conversion was i have had to make each layout a totally separate track, they still appear as addon or variation ingame, but their not in one dir, its the only way i could solve some strange pit problems, but it doesn't effect them in anyway..

As a teaser, im waiting for permission on Oldring park/russian ring and paul ricard 88, as well, all ready to go, all look stunning in race07..

Pointless reply m8, im happy whoever converts, what im stating is that Gobi is not the maker of this track, MORE Racing Team are, personaly it would be nice if we could just convert anything, but im affraid as im sure you know we will get hammered if we do, alot of modders don't like sharing their work, also rickylix started this mass converting and has stated he wants proper permissions..I agree with your feelings Danny these problems always appear and its a real pain in the arse..I think i will stick to just doing things for myself and a few friends always a safe bet m8..:up:

Does anyone know if Bathurst is on the cards to be converted. Would love to get my hands on this being an Aussie myself.

Also I am wanting to get my hands on 3dSimed so I can help to convert the tracks as well. I have been searching everywere on the net and can only find it if I join up to an Adult website. (Not going to happen with my credit card on the net, Wife will kill me LOL)

Got these tracks working now and I must say, they are great.
Obviously we have Brands, Snetterton, Doni and Silverstone but is there any scope to get permissions and convert the other BTCC tracks such as:

CROFT - GTL by Tantra
KNOCKHILL - GTL by DerDumeklemmer
Oulton Park - GTR2 by Motofx (should be easy to come by)
THRUXTON - GTL by triafgg

Any news on these would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work.

more misunderstandings like the confusion about the Russian Ring track.

The Stats about the Russian Ring track..:

3..Gopher got the original authors permissions..

Just a suggestion, why don't you guys make it into a co-work release..;)

Sounds fair to me m8, yeh i did miss Piquet thread about russian ring, we have spoke, but we did need more team racing permission for that one, i think we need to highlight that converters permission comes 2nd, try and get the makers 1st, espically if they are scratch built, maybe re-edit the list on 1st page with tracks done, and tracks to be done maybe get volunteers for each track, and to track down the permission for it, just a suggestion, it will help stopping incidents like with me and Piquet, because neither of us im sure wanted to step on each others toes..

I really do not understand why people post their stuff on rapidshare when they have available a dowload site like this one. NoGrip offers you a place that is well known and BUSY.

Also, here the public does not have to pay for convenient access or wait out the artificial delays that timeshare forces so that you'll maybe lose patience and pay for convenience.

There are a number of examples of sites that offer downloads where the downloads have been available for weeks/months and the download counts are almost nothing for excellent work. Yet the same work made available here has download counts in the hundreds in less than a day and can go into the thousands in a week or so.

Good new on Pacific Raceway..got it into Race07 last night..looks really good!!just need to tweak the aiw a bit and change the textures and this should be a fun track for everyone..Im gonna try and seek permission for it and if all goes well, i believe i will do a blanket release for rf, gtl, gtr2 and race07 all released on the same day..havent seen that happen before..ill get some screens going and start a new thread on that one..

SpecialKS, there will be a blanket release for rf, gtl, gtr2 and race07..Derdumeklummer wll be handling the gtl/gtr2 and I, the rf/race07, and we will be working together on textures and the track itself..the question is, do we want a modern day look or a 67-ish feel like it is in gpl..
im leaning toward a modern day look..but your opinions are welcome on that subject..

Great news! I for myself would prefer a 67-ish look, but first of all I want to try out this awesome track. Until yesterday I didn't know anything about that track, I didn't even know that it exists! Then I found a pic by accident and started searching the net.
In the meantime I found out that there already exist two (beta)-versions of this track for rfactor, but they have never been released or are wip yet. Downloaded the beta (from 2006) I found at filefront but it's pass protected.
Tried to contact the creator but didn't get an answer up to know.
But I think some racing leagues are using the track.
I'm not able to do any modding or painting yet but I hope to see this track sometime in the mentioned sims.

GTL = 67-ish look. Of course.
The only problem is, if you do make it look like 67, I'm pretty sure someone somewhere will cry out loud that you are using a moder layout and that the track wasn't like that! :mad:

As for Race07, modern layout WAD. There's a LOT of videos of this track on Youtube. You shouldn't have problem gearing up for the publicities, banners, colors, etc.

I have only recently begun to download cars and have really enjoyed seeing these beauts in action on the track. I downloaded Surfers Paradise and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Later I discovered Kyalami and have decided that this will be my next track to get. My question to you is if you know of anyone who is thinking of or busy with other South African tracks.
For example ( Durban's street race track used by the A1 gp, or maybe East London or Phakiso Freeway.) South Africa have some awesome tracks...!!!!

i can say for tsukuba, essington and mills..permission is granted, but the authors want to spot check the tracks before they are released. Tsukuba and mills need some texture work and right now, i dont have the time..i have a lot of new tracks that i need to get to now, ones that have never seen the light of day for the mods we race.
plus, I know peoples expectations and most want a bullet proof eye popping track, especially for Race07, so more work needs to be done with aiw and all the other "little" things that need to be ironed out..
still waiting on Mr DutchDevil for Watkins..but that one is ready to roll...

Hey Mojo..its nothing major..some of the textures kinda look textureless.mostly the grass. possibly it is just the bias settings
but as far as tsukuba, it came from gtl and Mr DD wants it re-textured quite a bit before it goes out for race07..
essington could be better..i cant remember, but 4xphx the original converter requests a good look at it before it gets released..pm me if you wanna fix em up right..i honestly dont care who gets credit for releasing the tracks, unfortunately, i simply dont have enough time to make sure the race07 conversions are spotless and the community deserves that..we had a team in place doing a lot of work, but sadly it fell apart..

jonbrum, that may be a possibility..it is required to have the .hat file from gtr2 otherwise the track will never load. you will either need to run the track in gtr2 to generate that file, unless you already have it..then just place it in your race07 oulton track folder..if that doesnt it work out let me know and ill see what i can do...

I have run the track in GTR2 to create the .hat file and copied it over, also edited the files in the .gbd file, think they are correct but I still don't even get the track show up in the track list of add on circuits.

Thanks for giving us this track, it's close to home for me, but i am still wondering why all the re do's of this track, for whatever race game's, have never done this track right, this is not how the track really is, there are no concrete barriers in all the Chicane's just the ripple strip areas with tires as barriers, and the walls round the track have tire bumper areas on most corners , it would be nice if some one could give us this really great track as it really is, surely something else with good grip could be used to stop the Chicane cutters from getting an unfair advantage on other players...

Actually the game has locked up by me, when the Ai was trying to leave the pits....

So I was able to drive around the course.
I tried to make it work, but had no succes, and gave up. :(
