OK, I like to screw around with setups.

So I figured to make one and store it. After each run, I adjusted each a couple of times each way to see if it did something obvious. It's a way to learn what they do. And after running awhile, I stored what seemed right. Then moved on to another track. Did good there and could afford to upgrade the car. The upgrade seemed to make the stored setup a bit off. No problem right, just change it and save over itself.

Didn't work that way. Started to save it, and D2 said it was a duplicate name. Good so far right. Nope. It said I already had that name to use another one. OK, if that's how it works, the old one can just be deleted later.

So now D2 has told me to make up another name and given me an OK button. So I push the OK button and it tells me that I already have that name etc, and I hit that same OK button and there is a CLOSED LOOP in the code.

It turns out now that going into the SAVE code now enters a closed loop. I think I hit every key on the keyboard and all the buttons on the wheel, but the only way out is to try and Ctrl-Alt-Delete and use the Task Manager. Only problem is D2 has messed with the OS a bit and the Task Manager pops up and is instantly overwritten by D2, right in it's closed loop.

Anybody know where the saved setups are stored? I'd like to remove the one that got stored in hopes D2 won't be so prone to lock up in the setups code.

Or does anybody know a keystroke combo or such that'll defeat the closed loop?

OK, it turns out that they apparently don't lock up if you hit the right buttons when the correct thing on the screen has been chosen.

A number of things don't seem to have support if you're using a wheel, at least my using a G27 (probably any Logitech wheel would work, or not work the same) seems to cause problems. For example............

When "spectate" is running, there are some replay controls shown on the screen. Like it appears that you can hit the up arrow to look at the next car ahead. That button does nothing on my keyboard. MOF, none of the keyboard buttons do anything. So you figure the wheel buttons should do those things.......... nah, not the buttons. Only thing that seems the wheel can do is in replay. Turning it speeds up or reverses the replay, and shifting gears changes the camera view.

Wonder if there is actually any documentation somewhere. Think I'll go look on the Codemaster's website.

I'd grade the game F on user documentation.

Yes

When you have done your setup or changes, you click STORE and it slaps two lines on the screen. One is bright yellow and says something like, "NEW SETUP" and the line beneath shows the date-time of the previous stored setup.

You have to do whatever your pc does to change the selection from the title line to the lower line. I use the down arrow key on my keyboard. Then hit Enter.

If I don't select the lower line (make it bright yellow), the code enters a closed loop telling you something about overlaying existing file click OK, you click OK, and it asks again.

If I do select the lower line, it doesn't get locked in the loop.
