5.1 Surround Sound? How?

How can I enable surround sound? Right now it is enabled on my system and works for other apps and games, but in Race 07 I only get stereo sound.

Race 07 only has stereo sound I'm afraid. Surround sound for racing sims is still relatively unusual - NR2003 has it but most don't.

...you can't.
The sound-engine featured in these ISI based-games (RACE'07/'06, GTL, GTR2, Rfactor, F1C, etc) is restricted to stereo, there's no support for EAX/3D surround like, say, NR2003 and some others. *shrugs*

You can emulate surround sound with a Creative Labs soundcard that supports CMSS-3D. It's not the real deal, but it is adequate and I much prefer it to 2.1 stereo from only two speakers.
