Hi all
new to RACE and have been enjoying finally able to get good fun races with AI.
game runs fine but replays are very stuttery.
fps is still at least 70 in replays but it stutters badly.
any ideas as to why this happens ?
thanks

Stutters seem to have more than one cure, but FWIW I fixed my replay stutters by reducing FSAA from level 3 to level 1. I think some have advised setting FSAA in your graphics card control panel and leaving the RACE 07 setting at none. I haven't done this but its worth trying.

There's also another reason for stutters in replays , its basically because simbin wants them to stutter.
Here's an excample of a cam file from Estoril GTR2
TrackingCam=TRACKING002
{
Position=(-12.274033, -13.598685, 602.773804)
Orientation=(-0.207962, 0.304116, 0.000000)
Fov=(38.440000, 28.320000)
Clear=FALSE
Color=(0, 0, 0)
ClipPlanes=(3.000000, 1000.000000)
LODMultiplier=(15.000000)
Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
MipmapLODBias=(0.000000)
Flags1=(5)
Flags2=(0)
ActivationLocation=(-393.589035, -20.913872, 336.662598)
ActivationRadius=(490.000000)
TrackingRate=(20.000000)
MovementRate=(0.000000)
ShakeRate=(6.000000)
ShakeMagnitude=(3.000000)
}
Notice, ShakeRate=(6.000000)
ShakeMagnitude=(3.000000)
This cam will shake no matter what kind of system you have because its built into the cam file. Set them to zero or delete both useless lines.
Thanks.

Honestly, they should hire you to do the cameras, your work is magnificent. Thanks for the headsup, looks like some editing of RACE 07 cams is the order of my day.

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. My stutter disappeared when I changed FSAA settings - nothing to do with cameras :)

I get the stutters in the replays - if I turn of adaptive AA they go --- I think its a bug in the graphics card driver
I have ati 1950xtx in crosfire mode but still stutters in replay

thanks for replies ill play around with the aa settings and see what happens. pretty sure my stuttering is not caused by any inbuilt camera shake. it like the fps drops from 80 to 1 for a split second , however fraps just shows a fairly constant fps of usually above 70
which is why its so annoying high fps with stutter just doesnt seem right. in rfactor i get muckh lower fps in replay but no stutter.
il also try removing
"Notice, ShakeRate=(6.000000)
ShakeMagnitude=(3.000000)
"
just to be sure , but i would have thought this would be just to introduce a bit of vibration into cams for realism, like the way the replay cams in DIRT shake as the cars go passed.
Thanks.
