The best I can do with the Subaru (Subaru Impreza STI Group N) Car is 1:44. I mean i'm on the limit I can't go faster that that.

Is is a decent time? On the time trial ranking it's about the the 2500, so far away.

But I have seen 1:39, is it a slow car or it's me that is slow?

You 1:44 should win online more than once or twice.

You can go faster. It's about discovering a quicker technique through the hairpins or finding a better line through a couple of turns.

I'd guess the 1:39 is probably an honest time.

Try the mitsu lancer evolution X. It appears to have an edge over most other cars. It sticks better. Less tail wagging makes for a calmer run.

Handbrake turns work really well on the gravel runs but they need a little finesse.

thx, yeah handbrake works great or hairpin but I cannot be consistent yet.

I scrub all the speed you have, I have to downshift and gaz early as I pull on the hanbrake

The axis handbrake work much better than button handbrake

Any way to get my useless clutch pedal to act as an axis hand brake?

I'm using my clutch for just that on my G27.

Just go into the control functions and assign it. Click on the handbrake to setup it's assignment, then step on it.

I'm not positive that it reacts proportionally. There is such little feel that it could simply be on/off that happens at some point in the pedal travel.

No matter how it responds, using the clutch for it is a very good way to have it work. The buttons on the wheel are way to hard to hit accurately since your hands are also working the paddle shifters.

Yea, I've been using it that way. It's on\off.
Hard to control without a progressive rate.

I have my G25 shifter set to sequential and use the change down gear as handbrake hehe - literally pull it back towards me and let go to release feels very satisfying.

The key to nailing handbrake turns on dirt2's gravel surface is to turn in not only early but very sharply having got yourself down to 2nd gear. Pull handbrake when you have enough turn then as soon as you feel the back start to come round, release (for 90% of the time I use the handbrake for turns in dirt2 I'd say I have the handbrake on for less than half a second, that's all it takes).

As you pass the center of the turn counter steer to get the nose where you need it whilst feathering the throttle to control the slide, as soon as your straight bury the gas and grab 3rd gear, your off :)

Time and time again online I see people trying to handbrake turn on these stages whilst on full throttle. You'll just slide out of the turn. The idea of a handbrake turn is that the front wheels act as an axis on which to spin, i.e they need grip so don't bury the throttle when yours sliding or they'll spin up. Your back wheels don't have any grip anyway (because you forced them to slide with the handbrake) so as soon as this happens you've got no grip on any wheels and you slide wide and its over.

I have use the clutch to make a G25 hand brake like this (not mine, but I copied the Idea from this)

then I connect the pot to a leo bodnear board, I have it from either the SLI-PRO or the F1-CST Pedal, and finally cover it with a ebrake cover, it work like a charm, but I'm not consistent yet

Best I could manage was a 1.40.85 in the Escort Mk II. Pos 570. I think with some more practice might hit the 1.39s. Playing with setup does help. Cheers.

LOL don't feel bad, I can only manage a 1:49 on default setup in the same car, so you are much much better.

Same method I use myself & bang-on in my view:thumbup:
