View Full Version : FPS.. what do you get ?
just ran a few tests to see what I'm getting as it seemed a little slow
1600x1200x32
Frames: 3064 - Time: 92400ms - Avg: 33.160 - Min: 1 - Max: 45
1280x1024x32
Frames: 3596 - Time: 89272ms - Avg: 40.281 - Min: 1 - Max: 56
1024x768x32
Frames: 4854 - Time: 102438ms - Avg: 47.384 - Min: 17 - Max: 75
I think those minimum 1 are when you start the logging as its the same key as for a screenshot :P
all tests are done on:
a64 3500+ @ 2420mhz,
1gb ram,
aiw9800pro @ stock
all highest settings in game, 8x AF and 0x AA in ati control panel
Explain how to benchmark it? What game video settings u used?
I have ATI X800pro 256mb, so I should do pretty well in this benchmark. BTW my game runs very smoothly FPS around 85 all the time :)
using fraps you can select to have it log to a txt file where it writes the results, just press f11 to start and finish the logging, then copy the results form the txt file (by default its C:\fraps\FRAPSLOG.TXT)
the settings I used ingame are these
oops I should have said.. of course I did those tests on the the rallyschool stage :)
Pls be more specific like: what rally school stage (haven't done that at all yet :smash: ), what car view you driving etc. and should I just press the f11 when starting to drive and should I then press f11 after completing the stage?
I am sure that we need pretty high end gfx card to run this game nicely with all the goodies on :sherlock:
well theres only 1 full rally school stage, its the last test in the advanced part fo the school, and also selectable for quick rally in the Rally GB (I think you have to complete the school to unlock that though)
and yes, I start it before the countdown at the start and stop it after the finish line, using in car center cam :)
hehe yeh I think it need it too, damn why did I cancel that x800xt order :-|

just wondering, will my radeon 9200 se 128mb be enough for the game
Ok, here is what I got:
1024x768x32
Frames: 6928 - Time: 88122ms - Avg: 78.618 - Min: 41 - Max: 87
1280x1024x32
Frames: 5780 - Time: 84792ms - Avg: 68.166 - Min: 9 - Max: 87
1600x1200x32
Frames: 4887 - Time: 87095ms - Avg: 56.111 - Min: 1 - Max: 76
All tests done in the rally school stage with center incar view. Graphics as per Dan's request.
Test specs:
AMD Athlon XP3200+ stock settings
1024mb ram
ATI X800pro 256mb stock settings
ATI CATALYST 4.8, AFx8, AAx0
I play always with resolution at 1280x1024x32 and settings are on the high side and the game runs pretty smoothly. :)
This is definetily a good time to upgrade you videocard to get the feel for speed :OMG:
 thanks for testing that ppi :)
EDIT:: btw, seems I was right about that 1fps thng, i changed my hotkey in fraps and now I get

Frames: 3747 - Time: 91400ms - Avg: 40.995 - Min: 33 - Max: 57

P4 - 2.8Ghz
1.0GB DDR RAM
Nvidia 5900FX 128MB RAM
res.1600x1200 Frames: 2487 - Time: 95422ms - Avg: 26.063 - Min: 14 - Max: 34
I was lil bit worried about the framerate, because I read on BHMS forum, that people are having difficulties with running the game smoothly. I think I got decent framerate at 1600x1200 :)

Got my new Radeon 9800xt yesterday and the game is just awesome and great looking!!! Im running it in 1024*768 32 bit and fps is great except in France...really poor fps there... dont know if its a bug or something?? 800*600 16-bit didnt help either. Fps around 20... 50-60 in all other countries. Wierd stuff!

Changed AGP Aperture size to 64 and fps went up on all stages, around 70 in france now!! :) Also better fps in replays. And I've always heard that agp aperture size should be at least 256mb or something...

Does 16 bit vs 32 bit make any difference speedwise?

Not for me, I would still be slow in black and white. :P 16 bit usually gives higher framerates, that is why I tried it. P:)

Saw the same on the High Gear Forum from NEA...his reply:
oh yea, and alot of people have found that RBR gets a much better frame rate with a lower AGP apeture size. one chap got 75fps with a 16mb apeture size and only 58fps with a 256mb apeture. go figure!
I will give this a try !!!!!!!!!!
