Hi all,

Sorry to bring this one up again. I know someone posted ages ago the list of what each Mini Genstring number does. Can someone point me or repost the list. I have done searches galore here and at RSC looking for this. I am trying to place the minis in GTL correctly as to Morris or Austin with the correct grilles. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the correct grille to go with the name with some major incorrect postings. See pics below for the correct grilles.

Yes, you posted the correct ones.
However, luxury Minis (...muha) sometimes had a Cooper grille...
I had a Morris Mini 1000 De Luxe in Oz, had a Cooper S grille.
I'm busy with the Minis, will let you know if I find anything.

Hubba Hubba.

1=wheels
2=body (tow hooks, exhaust, kill switches, body clips, filler caps all related)
3=bumper
4=steering wheel
5=lights
6&7=helmet style
8&9=interior view (determines what window strips and bonnet kill switches are seen from within the car)

Wheels (1=all chrome, 2=all black, 3=black inner chrome outer)
body (best to look at standard cars to see which you prefer)
bumper (1=straight bumper, 2=bumper with nerf bars)
steering wheel (1=newer style, 2=old chrome type)
lights (1=thick square tape, 2=thin square tape, 3=no tape,
4=orange spot, 5=octagonal tape)
make sure the lights match those on the windows style used otherwise the tape changes when the lights are switched on.

Thanks, Sunalp2, master of all info. Does this mean that the grille is contained within a .dds file and therefore not as easily changed as I would have hoped ? There are so many incorrect Grille/Badge combos out there.
I was hopimg it would be easier to correct the mistakes.

Anyway, a quick response as usual.

Nigave.

P.S. Tried to put the new GTL wide wheel/Flared arches combo into P & G on GTR2. Comes up in the showroom but will not load goes CTD.
Anyone else tried and suceeded ?

Hi Pizzaman,

Because the series minis are based on european cars I assume that they intended that the austin and morris cars had the correct grilles. I know that BMC played around with all sorts of variations in bodyshell/trim etc over the years but all I want to do is put the correct combo of grille and badges on my cars then put them into either the Austin or Morris selection area.

It's being a bit anorakish, I know but that's me, I suppose.

The grill is on the Window template. Nothing you can do to change it as far as I know. You can stick graphics on, but that's about it. Maybe you could try and paste one over the top.

I had troubles with the grill on my Healey 100s. I was trying to use the one Insane Druid had used but that didn't work, and I tried to make up my own and that didn't work. In the end Alex supplied me with one he'd been working on (for the second installment of P&G I would imagine).

As for the Genstring information, I keep that on a shelf in my GTL car workshop. Easy to get hold of. ;)

Ps. I've also put a wide wheel mini in P&G for James1.

Easy Peasy. Like Hex editing, I can't tell you how I did it, or I'd have to kill you. :D

It is really stupid, yeah, not from you but from Simbin.
They have made a lot of things so accurately, yet left the Morris out.
I could forgive them, not so our Antipode friends who only got Morrises...
The my have heard that there were also Austin Minis, but never seen one (unless inported from Pommyland...)

Guess you need to sort the original cars and part them to Morris and Austin.
When you have established which ones are Morris and which are Austin, you can sort them by using the genstrings I think.
There are separate GMT's too for the bodys. However I do not think the grille is profiled, so it is probably just the piece on the windows-template.

You just have to alter the DESCRIPTION in the .car file.

I've done that with all my Aussie Mini's (called them Morris), and I've called Sharpo's the Austin Mini Cooper MKII.

Then they show up in their own little menu.
