Another WIP, need to finish some other stuff first, but here's a first glance.

It's AMG's debut and came second over all in the '71 24hrs of Spa.

Nice! It's a very brutal Mercedes. I have read some stories about the car and it's birth. The father of this car is Erich Waxenberger who got an idea to put 6.3 V8 to W109 chassis in late 60's. At first the engine produced 250 bhp at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h took 6.5 secs. In later models the power had increased to 400 bhp and there was rumors of even more. Also the size of Waxenberger W109's engine is rumored to be more like 7.0 litre than 6.3 that was announced it to be.

There was some issues with tires melting away in long endurance races and therefore they had to put massive tires with those wide arches on. The one speciality Waxenberger's cars had was a airsuspension. That's because the racing rules at that time said that suspension needed to be same as in stock car. Don't really know how much these later Mercedes supported AMG models differed from orginal Waxenberger cars though.

This project looks good. It is nice to see how it improves. Keep it going!:up:

Hi Beni,

nice to see that somebody is working on this Mercedes :eek:. If you need informations about the car maybe i have some because today i bought a magazin where i found that car. There are e.g. information about the engine
(schedule power and torque over revs). I dont read the whole article until now but i think there could be further interesting things in it.

There is a BMW M1 out there, has already been converted.
It's in with the Lancia. Both need some realistic physics.
And the BMW needs some realistic wheels.

However, if permission (! ! !) were obtained, I'm sure we'd manage with the rest.
Now they are sort-of-illegal....

A more reasonable physics with specs of the so called ProCar-series is already on my HD. Same as in the beetles-thread: If someone can come up with a legal model of the car, I'm willing to cooperate! ;-)

Apart from this, guys, please stop hijacking this thread with requests or discussions about other cars than the "Rote Sau". Somehow unfair against Beni ...

They showed this beast on SPEED channel a few months back when AMG test drive was onor some car show.. It has like 600hp I think... Could be wrong though.

The car who race at Spa was equipped with original MB automatic 4-speed gearbox.

Probably, but in comparison a Fiat 500 has wider tyres ;-) :laugh:
But I'll make one that has Merc tyreprints over the roof, OK?

Wow! Those are the meanest V8 sounds I have heard in GTL yet! Almost as mean as my firebird :laugh::laugh: Doesn't quite lope as much as my car! :-D

Are you guys acquainted with the nickname, "a horses snout"? I just remembered how they used to call this car. Well, commonly used when my father wanted to buy one back in 96-97. This and the Cobra are two of his favourite Mercedes Benz models.
