have a look at that. Pretty cool to see something like that on a console. but I'd rather have a fixed real wheel AND headtracking.
That is pretty damn sweet.

so is this the next forza?

This isn't Forza 4, it looks to me more like an expansion or something. I think it looks pretty sweet, like the garage mode in PGR3 but way more involved and interactive. Makes great use of the great looking cockpits they modelled that you can hardly see in the game.

I dunno, a wheel with no force feedback, feeling of the road, no tactile sensations at all. Ya that's for Mario Kart, and nothing else.
Headtracking sounds nice but you'll probably have to turn your head too much which will have you looking out of the side of your eyes. I'd rather have a multi-screen setup myself. Or just a larger screen when they finally come down to a reasonable price.
I'm skeptical. All the motion controls and 3D stuff I've seen so far look like gimmicks and nothing more.

I agree, it's just like mario kart. Looks one hell of a lot better though.
Headtracking needs to work like TrackIR, and be twice as sensitive, so you move your head 5 degrees and the game turns 10 degrees. A multiscreen setup would be the best but that requires 3 xbox's, 3 screens and 3 copies of the game, so this is by far a cheaper alternative.
I'm obviously not the target audience for this crap, it looks like it works but I have no other judgement on it really.

I tend to agree with this, I really can't see what this will bring to Forzas driving experience. I'd have been more impressed if they's maybe showed some open wheel racing as an expansion to the franchise.
zud the spud I'm not sure they know who their target audience will be for this, it seems like a marriage of convenience just to promote new tech without adding to the gameplay.

Yeah it's obvious they've been told to do this by Microsoft, they didn't ask. I don't know who the target audience is for this, it might not even be a full game, I think it's just a tech demo more than anything.
Something to note: I was watching a video from E3 and they have upgraded the graphics engine, better lighting effects are what they mentioned. Also they said there is a mode where you just try to overtake as many cars as you can in 90 seconds or something, so they've put more than 8 cars on track at once. Something to look forward to in the next full instalment of Forza.

This is just M$ trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Wii.
It will be a hit, because as they say, "there's one born every minute", but, for the majority of gamers who already play games such as FM3 it'll go by unnoticed. Because we are comfortable with our current control systems and we have no reason to sit on a sofa looking like dicks pretending to steer a car with an imaginary steering wheel.
We have real physical steering wheels instead.
This "project natal/Kinect" is aimed very much at the casual/family gamer. Just more proof that money chasing is diluting video gaming down to dross, much like British TV really...

Possibly with the release of GT5 they may put a graphic shine on and add something else, if they don't they must be aware that they could start to lose the hardcore fans. That's where their real bread and butter is.
It's just silly driving with just hand gestures, only the head tracking is cool. I am not a fan of neither Kinect nor Move but the sad thing is that these thing will probably sell a lot and like Ravenmorpheus said it will bring the gaming industry further down the drain. I just hope they strike a balance between the casuals and hardcore gamers.

I would rather play a driving game with a wheel and pedals, but with added software that varies the steering and pedal feel so that it feels exactly the same in the game as it would in the rear car. eg, a BMW E92 M3 in game will feel the same as the real one. and a chevy aveo will feel like a chevy aveo. same with the pedals, they should require the same amount of effort to push as they do in rear thing. i think that would be really cool.

So how would you accelerate in this situation?

You don't, it's an arcade mode where it accelerates and brakes for you and you have to pass as many cars as you can in a time limit. You just steer. With the air.
Take as much notice of this as a sim racer as you would the next Mario Kart game.

The "air steering wheel" isn't good, I've a WiiWheel and i use it for driving on PC.
In all games, Grid, shift, dirt2, rFactor, I have the problem that I can't go straight easly.
That because i must hold up the wheel, i can't relax my hand, I don't have any center, i must find by intuition. It is good for your positions, but for no other.

Where did you read that?
I heard you also throttle and brake with your feet. Riht foot forward is throttle. left foot is brake.

I didn't read it, it's mentioned by every gaming outlet that played the demo at E3. That's how the E3 demo worked.
Here is a video of the demo with the developer explaining it: http://video.destructoid.com/#165197
I don't know how the system you explained would work, because you need to be standing to use Kinect.

The last part of the post is spot on. I just worry that they will spend precious development time on this, rather than on the important parts of the game.
Wouldn't most people like some open wheel racing or is that just me!
