LOL m8 - you're living up to the myth of the 'tight scotsman' !!
Honestly you're better of scouting around on fleabay - picked up a 'reasonable' 2nd hand X800 platinum (faster than 850) for £35 delivered m8 - that wasnearly 8 months ago. Im sure you should get a 1650 or low end 8000 series for similar-ish money........
I'll have a look around for ya a post a link... :)

ha ha  , when your not workin everythin is expencive. £60 is about the budget. ive seen the cards on ebay, but they all need a paypal acount. i dont have one :( . i got ripped off on ebay through paypal, so dont trust it.
as i said it was just on the off chance someone had an old card lying about that they might sell.

If PCIe, I'd get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150260
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130286

The second one is probably the best you could get for the money.

...I would hold on the purchase of a 8600GT/GTS at this time, since the 9600GT will soon be released to substitute them.

...that will make the prices go down a LOT on the 8600GT/GTS models when that happens, so hold on a little longer and you might get some great prices later for those cards (as stock left overs), for the mentioned reason. ;)

...meanwhile, if you can't wait, add to the list something like an ATI X1650XT or an ATI HD2600XT (256MB or 512MB), as they're now "stock left overs", so bouth are good options for someone on a very tight budget, they're sold cheap (errrr... "cheap" in terms of graphics-card prices, that is!), either in AGP or PCI-E format.

I've got an xfx 8500GT Fatal1ty that you could have. I have no idea if it's better or worse than your current card though. I haven't used it at all as I managed to get my hands on an xfx 8800GT Alpha Dog.

And as we're both from "Scotland, near Glasgow" it should be relatively easy to get it to you.

Glad to help.

Its better being used rather than just sitting in a drawer.

9800gtx is 200usd and the 9800gtx+ is 225, and the ATI equivalent is just as good but slightly cheaper.
