My desk is slightly higher then most so back on my MoMo I had to do a similar setup but this time it is a bit more permanent.

I basically found the angle I liked and measured from the back of the G27 to my desk. About 1.5". From the edge of my desk where it mounted to that vertical measurement was 4". I worked out the angle of 20.5 degrees took a chop saw and popped me out 2 wedges of 2x6. I cut those down to 4" after.

I then got a piece of 1/2" cutting board and cut it 9x7". I placed the board onto the bottom of my G27 measuring and drilling the 1/4" holes for the permanent mounting screws. I velcro'd the wood chocks to the cutting board and drilled four 1/8 holes through the board and wedges. I lined it up on my desk and put four 2" drywall screws strait through my desktop (Wont move now will you you bastard!!) I then attached the front clamps from my G27 to the board and screwed up the two 6x1x25mm bolts into the mounting holes built into the G27 bottom.

If I pull hard enough I am sure the Wheel itself will break off before the base lets go.

I built myself a similar rig about four years back. Mine sets the wheel (which would otherwise have a "forward (leaning at the top) rake angle" of 30 degrees if layed onto a flat desk, a further 15 degrees back toward me at the top of the rim So...I realize only 15 degrees of "forward rake" with my wheel support.

Beyond that, the only real difference between our two wheel setups is that mine sports somewhat "taller" sidewalls (the wedge shapes which support the flat plane the wheelcase rest on top of. Mine are about 2" tall at the front edge (closest to me)...and perhaps 3" at the back. I also do have a "fat" rail laying underneath the front edge, which the two Logitech wheelclamps nudge up behind (to keep the wheel snugged up tight to the rest of the cockpit).

The only "play" I get from any of this is that from the original (very sloppy) plastic bearings. Other than that, I have to bodily yank the entire desk aside (using the wheel)...in order to get things mis-alinged.

Sounds ominous, but it really does happen far too often for comfort.

"Weld me in!"

I'll also say this: From my current driving perspective (I'm set up close or identical to the "laydown" position used in F1 cars from 67-71, and to the Porsche 917), I do look slightly "downward" onto the top of the steering shaft.

Meaning: It wouldn't project outward toward the bridge of my nose, but rather lower down instead. It would come out more toward the upper part of my breastbone....
