Is there any way to output the X-Y-Z motion of the car so that such sharp movements like bumps, kerbs and impacts can be made to felt through a separate feedback device to the wheel? I was thinking that a heavy speaker driver coil powered by an amplifier may be able to give some feedback like those feedback chairs they sell

Many moons ago there was a "thing" (ex U.S.) called an Aura Interactor. I was given one & bought a 2nd ex ebay. Basically a seat pad with a transducer (or several?) built in + amp/filter built in the 70's when they knew not what to do with them & fizzled out. I HAD A VISION & built one into the backrest of a seat from some Jap. car. (Seat even had zip opening in rear & was rel. simple to mod, but donated by son who constantly rebuilds his V8 Chev/63 Toyota 4WD so no identity!) Piggybacks to whichever sound output on back of tower OK.
Gives usefull "feel" in small of back, dont think I'm imagining that, & intend to use no2 on another build while still driving first. If sound track goes bump so do you!
Sounds like what your after & I got lucky so now you know a name to search & it'll be cheap gamble if they dont know what its good for. Think mine was under $20Aus incl. postage, so embarassing I posted another $20 note 'cause it came in as new with orig. box, instr. mint!! Had to make it worth posting!!

sounds good to me - I have a load of old high quality speakers that became low quality ones with the advent of children and their rather searching fingers. I also have a really good old NAD amp that would be considered army surplus for its looks, but it's built like the proverbial outhouse.

like I said, if only you can output the 'G' forces or the information in some useable form, hey maybe we can use it. Of course, I found this: http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/Go_here_for_alternate_types_of_force_feedback_read out_and_how_to_use_them_in_simulator_systems ......it scared me a bit, as it is a bit more tech than I bargained for, but it might be of use to someone. But it is clear that there are possibilities

That must be for Star Wars sims (laff), are they making that stuff up to sound cool?
I looked at the Aura box & it said 1996, but circuit board inside said copyrt.1970 something. searched the name on ebay minutes ago & found item ex Sydney Aus, s'pose your million k from that. Looked under "transducer" & found, amongst the boatie stuff, an I beam thing for "feeling" audio output...expensive. Seems most bumps etc in say R factor have an audio component, because it works for me BUT not on subwoofer output, mines centre front channel.

clearly the G data must be exportable as the MOTEC plugin does it, it's just knowing how to use it. I've looked at a few USB external device controllers, I'm going to try and work out whether there's any way of tying them together.
