I didn't see any post about this, why :?:
I love this game but the cutting corners penalty
makes it very hard to race on the limit
When I brake to hard and miss the apex and go
a little bit to wide over the curbe, the lap don't count.
What the crap is this.
When need a patch for this Codemaster
what are the thinking

What is even more ridiculous that on Monaco if you hit barier on the outside you get penalty as well! What a F-word joke you lose time and you get penalty. Also once I JUST TOUCHED the kerb on right corner next to Casino and I received a penalty for this as well.
I can understand penalty if you cut with 4 wheels (4 wheels goes behind the white line) but not when you just touch the kerb or miss braking point.

Yes I had the same thing at Monaco yesterday
This cutting penalty has to go as soon as possible.
It makes the game undriveable :crying:

Agree.
Penalties in the game are very bad aplied...

I agree, too, that the penalty system is too strict. I think a penalty system is necessary, but the present system is just absurd.

Don't you remember the obsurd situation in Gran Turismo around the Seattle street circuit, where it was quicker to let the Suzuki smash into the barriers? In principal, I can see why there are penalties for barrier hitting.
As for true corner cutting, the usual rule is only two wheels may go outside the thick white lines that define the track, not three and certainly not four...

can the penalty behavior be turned off entirely via menu option?

Do you guys slow down while off track??
Because i do and i don't get penalised for that...

it should be a little smarter. If I go off track on the inside of a corner then most likely I'm cutting the corner and should be penalised. But if I go off track on the outside most likely I've gone too hot into the corner and pushed off the track, why should I lose the whole lap? I've already screwed up my race line.

yes, I do slow down, but this only stops some pens...
Also, in TT mode, why the hell do you loss your next laps time cos u cut 1/2 through the previous lap?!?! Check Melbourne, do a bad full throttle cut (to make it count) 1/2 way around the track somewhere, which will be of no benefit to the next lap but you now have to drive for another 3+ minutes to clear the current lap (of course) + the next full lap and not cut at all on that one too......

i love this feature... if you don't like it turn the flags off and play in arcade mode.
I especially love this feature in multiplayer, if your in a league you wont need anyone to make judgement calls the game does it for you.
they did something iracing could not figure out with penalty's... 100x better then there stupid 1x system on road tracks. Atleast you can run on the grass some without penalty.

So it's arcade to leave the track? Guess half the cars off of the start at turn one in real life get penalized for leaving the track to avoid making contact. I fully agree that people should be penalized for cutting across the apex of a corner, but when you go wide and off the track it makes no sense.

This is a very bad aspect of the game that needs to be addressed in the first of any patches. It's not realistic or true to F1. Corner cutting usually results in at least a warning for the first offense. Going off does not draw the ire of the stewards. I was on my way to a certain win during my last online event at Hockenheim and had another lapped driver spin, completely blocking the entire racing line. I naturally had to steer around him and drive slightly off track to avoid a collision, which promptly resulted in a 25 sec. penalty two corners from the start/finish. So despite crossing the line first...NO win.

Totally agree, you shouldn't be penalised for making the lap longer, only if you cut corners.
Also, what's all that 'invalid next lap' business? :?:

OUCH!
Penalties to avoid collisions are unacceptable. I think that a penalty for careless or recklessness is in order, but your situation is just no good.

If you go off track in sector 3, there you have it. You have your next lap invalidated. They did it to keep people from setting fast lap times by going off track prior to the start-finish line. This should ONLY apply to the last corner. Having the next lap invalidated at the start of sector 3 has sent my blood pressure up a few times. It's just crappy lazy developers trying to paint a portrait with a paint roller.
