I'm laughing so hard, tears are running down my face.
I just looked at the times on STEAM/Simbin's World Leaderboard and they are a joke. Simbin has cheat detection code in place, right. Yeah, right.
Well, the times they have allowed seem to really blow that idea into bits. Take Anderstorp for example.
First of all, keep in mind that they don't seem to keep any times for anything other than the WTCC 2007 cars. I guess they couldn't get their code to work for all the cars that are available in the game. They list them, but don't seem to have any times at all. Maybe nobody has raced any of the '06s or 1987s or Radicals, Minis, F3000s etc yet??? And they only seem to keep times on 11 tracks. That may be a little lame, but it's not the really funny part.
If you've ever run for awhile in a WTCC 2007 at Anderstorp you know to consider a lap to be fast, it has to be a couple of seconds under 1:40, right. lol..... And if you look at our hotlap times you see the fastest WTCC 2007 lap is in the 1:37s.
And if you're familiar with fastlap lists, you know that when the fast drivers set another track record, they can only beat it by hundreths or thousanths. And the more fast drivers there are, the tighter the top speeds are.
Well over there, look at the 1st page of times for Anderstorp. The top 25 times are there. And they work down from 25th (1:36.872) to 5th (1:36.062) about like you'd expect. Each improvement was just a couple of hundreths better.
And then the guy who is in 4th suddenly and miraculously whacked a huge 7 TENTHS off the record. And darned if the guy who beat that did for 3rd best did 1.4 SECONDS better than the guy in 4th.
The top 5 places are over a second apart between each place.
Top place is 1:24 something. You think maybe it's bogus?
So..... do you think they cheated those times or the game somehow recorded a bogus time. Which is it? cheating? or lousy code?
Bottom line is that it seems this game really has suffered with the improvements it's gotten since it was GTR2. I'd say it was time for a shakeup of the staff. They need to start over with people who can actually make the new stuff work. At least not look so half-done and bogus.
